This was a great experience right from the beginning. Julie was a wonderful pilot and gave us lots of informative commentary. The views were breath-taking and the ride was smooth and comfortable. We would absolutely do this again and suggest to anyone traveling to Hawaii.
My wife and I did this tour with another couple. It was a little spendy to be sure, but I believe clearly worth it. I felt safe and comfortable. We saw things from the air (waterfalls and topographic views) that were in the exclusive realm of a helicopter ride. Our pilot's narrative was very helpful. It was a memorable event that I would recommend without reservation or hesitation.
The Blue Hawaiian Helicopter in Maui is in 1 Kahului Airport Road, which is quite close to the Kahului Airport. Therefore, you could just jump out of the plane, rent a car and drive to here in minutes. Why not take the helicopter tour to get the overview of the amazing islands before you explore the detailed scenes? There is a patrolled parking lot, so you don't need to worry about the car. The communication and response for the reservation is quick and with detailed clarification. A safety video will be introduced to you before you take the chopper. And there is also a drinking bar there for the coffee and tea while you rest. Also, after the tour, you could check the video recorded by the camera in the chopper and have a look at some souvenir. I have to say the pilot bear is so cute. Therefore, before you try anything else, take the helicopter tour first and it's worth the time.
Simply put awesome!!!! Awesome awesome awesome - beyond all expectations!! Awesome and I would do this again!!
They did a great job with safety and our pilot was fantastic! The helicopter had great windows in front, which is where you want to sit. We flew all the way to the active volcano to Kona which was quite expensive as we did it private. A 5 star experience, if you can afford high cost. We did private, so should look at group if you need to bring cost down.
My favorite thing we did on our 10 day trip. Hugo was our pilot and he was so much fun. His music corresponded to the different locations and made it even better. He did a great job putting us at ease when we were a bit nervous. He told us what to watch for, navigated us so professionally over cliffs by waterfalls and through the canyons. Crazy exciting and so much fun! This company is well organized which was comforting knowing your doing something so "scarey". Hugo had great info on the sites and history . If you go ask for Hugo!
My husband and I took our 12 year old grandson for a flight as part of his birthday trip. He is afraid of heights, and was very unhappy that we had done this. His seat was in the front and next to the door. Once we took off, he gave me thumbs up! He told me this was the best thing he had ever done, and loved it so much! Our pilot was fantastic. He included each person in the flight, asking questions, and pointing out different things. We flew the Eco and were able to talk to the pilot. Can't say enough good things about this!
We chose the Maui-Molokai tour, which was about 55 minutes in the air. The West Maui Mountains are beautiful on their own - even better than I thought - but Molokai was really great. Dramatic ocean-front cliffs and spectacular waterfalls. Awesome. It was a little rainy on our tour, but only in spots and it didn't affect the tour at all - in fact, we got to see a couple rainbows. Our pilot did a good job of turning the helicopter around so both sides got to see everything well. The eco star we flew in provided the great perspective they said it would - definitely worth it. The office staff was great on the phone - very helpful - but in person they were a little disinterested. We were the last tour of the day so I think they may have been ready to go home. All in all, a great tour!
Second helicopter ride around Maui, but first time with Blue Hawaiian. Our pilot, Justin, was terrific. He provided nice background as we flew over various points of interest and made sure all passengers enjoyed spectacular views and had ample time for photos. He also had a very steady hand at the controls, which ensured a very smooth flight. We were a party of three, and I was concerned that we might not all have good vantage points, but every seat was a good one. We took the A-Star to west Maui and Molokai. After seeing both the A-Star and the more expensive Eco-Star, I don't see a compelling reason to spend the extra money on the Eco-Star. After speaking with a few people, I got the sense that the biggest differences between the two birds had to do with the tail rotor and the seating. However, neither improved your views, so why pay the extra money? I took my 13 year old daughter and 14 year old son, and they said it was the highlight of the vacation. Helicopter rides aren't cheap, but the memories are worth every penny!
We went for the complete Maui island tour and it was spectacular waterfalls and vistas you could only see from a chopper! Incredible views in the valleys and the slopes of Haleakala were astounding. Thank you Tara and Trevor for the gift
This trip was definitely worth the money, we took the 45 minute trip which was just right for us, never been on a helicopter before, ride was smooth and quiet, had headphones so we could hear the pilot give history on the island, fishing, inhabitants, etc. You could also ask any questions along the way. I tell you we saw things that you only see in pictures waterfalls, valleys, ocean views, things you can absolutely not see except for by air. My party loved this trip! Next time, I would take the ultimate tour that goes over the entire island! Staff was friendly and efficient. Cold lavender towels provided after landing.
Something to do and not miss, we did the complete island tour which lasts for about 1 hour and was superb, our lady pilot was great and explained a lot and the views you get are breathtaking, it is not cheap at 300USD per person. Everything was professional, on time and safe. The heliport is close by the airport so a bit far from the main beach areas so you will need a transfer to get there.
Doing a helicopter ride of Maui is definitely worth a splurge; you see so many places you won't in a car. Our pilot was great and very informative; the ride was smooth. Our flight was delayed over an hour which was frustrating, but they did apologize and gave us complimentary DVDs of our flight.
We surprised our parents with the shortest 45 min helicopter tour since my mom mentioned she was terrified of riding in one. The original morning tour was canceled but they upgraded them to the next level helicopter later that same day which was nice of them. Our parents both loved it and were surprised at how smooth the ride was. They mentioned the pilot (Eric) was great, the only thing they would have changed is stay on longer. It's probably worth booking the longer tours. Thank you for the memorable experience you all gave them!
Probably like most people, this is something we really wanted to do but wasn't sure if it was worth the price. Without a doubt it was completely worth it. We did the West Maui - Molokai tour with our pilot Hugo and everything about it was perfect. He shared interesting facts as he flew us through crazy canyons, incredible waterfalls, and the world's tallest sea cliffs...all places that you can't see any other way. The views and experience is awesome and the photos turned out great. Safety and professionalism were outstanding. Thanks for the highlight of our trip!!
