We did the Maui Spectacular Ride which is a combination of their West Maui and Hana/Haleakala Tours, AND you get to land at a remote spot at Ulupalakua Ranch, on the slopes of Haleakala. There the pilot serves you a glass of delicious pineapple sparkling wine that you can sip as you take in the amazing surroundings (& take tons of photos). This ride is a lot more expensive, but how often do you plan to ride in a helicopter? The landing and experience were worth it to me. We were delayed an hour as they fixed the air conditioner, an inconvenience they were most polite about and ended up comping us the personal DVD of our trip, which was very nice. I'm glad to have it (~$40 value). I recommend buying it - again, how often are you going to do this? The late start may have affected our viewing - we had to pass on seeing the Haleakala Crater due to clouds, something I wanted to see. However, the pilot (Rick) made up for it by showing us some amazing waterfalls that were present due to the recent heavy rain storm the island had experienced. I really enjoyed all the information he shared, as well as his dry sense of humour. Despite not being crazy about a helicopter ride, I felt relaxed with him. We were lucky to just have 4 of us - I can see how a full flight of 7 could be crowded. We rode on the Eco-Star (nicer than A-Star) in which there used to be just 6 seats - My friends sat in the front and the husband felt a bit "squished". With just my husband and I in window seats at the back, I could see perfectly and was very comfortable. The Eco-Star allows for good viewing for everyone, though I was glad to have a window seat. I highly recommend it - you see sights on Maui and beyond that you can only see from the air. Per the pilot, this company takes maintenance, etc.very seriously so I'd book with them. Follow their directions and wear dark clothing (on legs too) so that your photos through the glass turn out without reflections. Allow half a day - the actual tour is about 90 minutes, but you need time to get weighed (it's discreet - you step on a carpet and they see the number on their computer screen), watch a safety video, get in a last bathroom run, maybe look in the gift shop. The staff were all very polite and accommodating - you can tell they value good customer service.

This was definitely the high point of our vacation in Oahu ! The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Brendon is an excellent pilot , very informative, and quite entertaining! We hope to come back to fly around every island! Thank you!
