Expensive but fun
Big Island - Hilo

We took the Circle of Fire plus Waterfalls tour out of Hilo, in the A-star. The check-in at Hilo was great, the staff was all very friendly. They ask you to wear dark colors to cut down on glare and offer shirts if you forget. They also ask that you not bring anything with you on the flight other than a camera or bottle of water. They have a bag check where they lock up your items while you're gone. You do have to step on a scale when you arrive which I didn't love but only the attendant can see the results. They then place you into helicopters and do seat assignments based on height and weight. When we went for our flight I was 6 months pregnant and prone to motion sickness. I took dramamine 2 hours before the flight and found that take-off, landing, and flying generally straight or wide turns were no problem. When you get over the volcano you do a lot of tight circles though, so everyone can see the view, which definitely triggered my motion sickness. Something to be aware of if you are thinking of doing the flight when pregnant. I ended up feeling so icky that it kind of ruined the rest of the flight for me. Had I known I would have sprung for the more expensive/comfortable Eco-star. My husband had an amazing time, it was his favorite activity so he would highly recommend. I would recommend, but probably with the Eco-star.

BEAUTIFUL TOUR VERY ENJOYABLE. OUR PILOT, CHASE, WAS VERY SAFE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE AREA. THE SUPPORT STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. THEY REALLY WORRY ABOUT SAFETY - ONE MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY USES A WHEELCHAIR AND HE WAS ABLE TO ENJOY THE HELICOPTER RIDE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LIFT FOR WHEELCHAIR/DISABLED RIDERS - THE VIEW WAS SPECTACULAR BLUE HAWAIIAN HELICOPTERS ARE THE BEST! HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TRY IT.

Amazing helicopter tour. We got to see a good amount of the island, and it's some incredible scenery. Our pilot Geoffrey was an excellent pilot and definitely made us feel at ease during the flight. 100% would recommend Blue Hawaiian tours.

Proposal on the Kohala Coast Waterfall Visit
Big Island - Waikoloa

Memory of a lifetime - I proposed to my girlfriend on our tour with Chase when we landed at the waterfall, and it couldn't have been any more spectacular. I called in advance and shared that I wanted to ask the big question, they immediately directed me to the tour that includes a landing at a secluded waterfall in the Kohala Coast area. I booked the whole helicopter for the two of us (I decided it was worth it to avoid a Bob and Sue from Wisconsin witnessing the whole thing situation), and we figured out how to keep it a surprise. When we got to the heliport and took us out to the chopper, they loaded me in first where our pilot, Chase, discretely confirmed he knew the plan. When we were up in the air he provided a super smooth ride and great descriptions of the island - I think he even laughed extra hard at my jokes, solid wingman. We zoomed around the cliffs and saw whales and sharks in the water, then finally set down by the waterfall. I passed my phone discretely to Chase so he could record, then Christen and I walked up to the waterfall, where I dropped on a knee and popped the question. She was shocked and so happy, we got everything on camera, and then popped some champagne and took in the views of the ocean from the cliffs before jumping in the chopper and heading back. It was completely amazing, the whole team at Blue Hawaiian contributed to make it special and the perfect memory. Thank you so much, this was the experience of a lifetime!

One of the most unforgettable travel experiences ever
Kauai - Lihue

I wasn’t sure if this helicopter trip over Kauai would be worth it and it turned out to be an experience that I would place alongside snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, seeing the Aurora Borealis in Iceland and seeing the Bosporus and Istanbul from the cockpit of a British Airways Jet. Not too be overly dramatic but this is one we’ll never forget. Blue Hawaiian is highly professional and having a well qualified staff and pilot are important, especially given some recent tourist helicopter crashes. Everything was very organized and Pilot Beth, who described what we were seeing through our headphones, was outstanding. She pointed out sights, circled around so both people on each side of the chopper could see what she was showing us, and filled us with interesting facts and lore. We flew over waterfalls on Sinclair/Robinson land that cannot be seen by the public except by air, the Waimea Canyon, the shoreline of the Napili coast and then back into the high valley between two of the indented spires of many along the coast. We flew over the Hanalei Bay and then back over the volcanic cone of Mt Waleale before heading back to the Lihue airport. While at first I thought it was expensive I’m so glad we did it as it is a quality trip and actually about the cost of a Broadway show—this was much more beautiful and memorable.
