What a wonderful way to begin our honeymoon. We had an awesome time the Maui spectacular trip! Our pilot Rick was an awesome tour guide, bar tender and excellent pilot!!! Thanks so much Blue Hawaiian!
After doing a lot of research, I decided that the Blue Hawaiian Maui Spectacular trip was the one we should take. It is 2 hours and you land on a mountain top for a bit. We saw the whole island. I had never been in a helicopter before and was a bit nervous, but it was great! When you sign up you have to provide your weight and they verify it discretely at the heliport. Based on the passengers they assign the seats for balance. You get to be with your partner. We were lucky to ride shotgun, I was right next to the pilot, Ryan. The ride is very relaxing, he has music tied to the areas you visit. We saw so many spectacular waterfalls. The pilot provides information and you can ask questions. You have headphones on and are all strapped in, I looked like the pilot! We stopped atop a mountain, had some champagne and enjoyed the views. If you have the time, you should go on this tour, you see everything, and you go over Hana, so we decided not to do that curvy, long ride. I also selected the Eco-Tour nicer helicopter, if I was going to do this, I wanted to do the best. It definitely was and worth every penny. I would do it again. The staff at the heliport were friendly and Ryan was a friendly and excellent pilot. I would highly recommend this company and this tour.
The flight was fantastic and the Pilot was the best, I have never been in a helicopter before and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.Spectacular way to see Maui!
We were not sure what to expect but having now seen Maui from above we cannot imagine not having done it. What a spectacular tour! Rick is a great pilot and guide. Having had an introduction to how Maui formed from volcanic action during our Hana van tour, seeing it from the sky with Rick's explanation brought it all together.
My (new) husband and I both work in aviation and booked with Blue Hawaiian because of their stellar reputation (both for maintenance and overall). It was great to see the wind surfers, mountain waterfalls and wildlife from the air. I commented that I've never been Above a rainbow! Our pilot was not only informative with what he told us, but also very personal. I was impressed that he knew all our names (and used them often) before we took off! It was also nice to get a "resident's" recommendations of places to see and places to eat. All of the staff were very friendly and appear to really enjoy their jobs. From the person that helped us book our trip, to the check in people and safety people - great overall experience.
This was our first helicopter tour and it did not disappoint. We arrived a couple hours early on our way to the airport and they had a nice place to wait and we were able to put our luggage off to the side. We told the staff that we would be in a rush to make our flight and they kindly set up a taxi to be waiting at the end of our tour. Everyone was very nice and safety seemed to be very important. We chose to tour Moloka'i aboard the Eco-Star model. We were assigned seats in the front and the views were spectacular. The pilot was informative and maneuvered the helicopter so that everyone could see the falls and the cliffs. The views were just amazing and I'm glad we decided to do this at the last minute on our way out of town. What an amazing way to end an awesome vacation on Maui! Thanks Blue Hawaiian!
My husband and I booked a tour with Blue Hawaiian while on our honeymoon. It was expensive, but what isn't in Hawaii? Neither of us had been in a helicopter, but our pilot was a true professional and calmed our nerves. We had such an amazing experience and would recommend to everyone!
On 10/24/14 we took our first Helicopter tour of Hana/Haleakala. The wife had never flown in a helicopter and it had been over 40 years for me, so we were a little anxious about this. We booked a 50 min. flight on a Eco-Star and it was smoother than many airline flights we have taken, When we arrived, we were greeted and checked in very quickly by two very friendly and informative ladies. They pointed out where the guest area was and offered us some refreshments. When it was time, another friendly member of the ground crew gave us a very informative safety presentation and took us out to the Helicopter. Once we were secured our pilot introduced himself. His name was Rick and he was fabulous. He flew the helicopter very calmly and was very informative about all that we saw. He also flew by many locations in both directions so all could see. The company is great but Rick made it special. Note, it is a little pricey. Looking back on it now, very glad we made the investment to take the tour. Make sure you get the Blu Ray disk. It is not highlights of the flight, it is the whole flight with all the music and conversations.
Waterfalls and flying over the 3000 ft. sea cliff drop! Flying through the mountain valley across the island is mystical and majestic.
My father insisted that my wife and I take a helicopter ride while we were in Maui. I am glad we did! We chose Blue Hawai'i and found them to be safe and professional. The flight was short, but we covered all of West Maui, going low over the mountains, skimming over Kaanapali Beach and the hotels and saw a huge wind farm that the pilot said supplies 20% of Maui's energy. The flight was very smooth; a great first chopper ride!
My girlfriend and 9-year old twins took a 45 minute tour over the North Shore and East side of Maui with our pilot Mike Thatcher. He was a great guide...giving us all kinds of information related to history, owners of real estate and different geological formations. He was great with my son who would ask questions...Mike made sure we were all having a good time. The guy next to me did grab his "comfort bag" a few times. He mentioned that he should have eaten breakfast before the tour. Also, even though it was raining at the airport, we were able to find some clear skies and sunshine...so don't let that worry you. One tip...the tour includes a video that sometimes pans into the cockpit...so don't make silly faces...or do...just know that it will be caught on video...and all your questions...like mine asking the pilot if this was his first trip.
My husband & I truly enjoyed this amazing tour. We did the 45min Hana/ Haleakala tour and we had a GREAT guide & pilot Rick!!! I recommend requesting to fly with him.. The Honeymooners from NY
We loved the helicopter tour! It gave great views of Maui that could not have been seen from anywhere else. The pilot was great, she was funny and very knowledgeable. Also, the company has cameras on the helicopter that take pictures of the views and also of the people in the helicopter (to see your responses to all of the amazing sites) and this is available for purchase after the ride for a very reasonable price. It was a great start to our visit to Maui! One caution: we put their address in our GPS, and it is actually the address of the airport, so we ended up at the airport and we started getting worried that we were going to get to the heliport too late! If you are driving to the heliport, start out like you're going to the airport, but then start following the signs that say heliport!
We took the west Maui and Molokai helicopter tour and had a fantastic time. Because the pilots are certified tour guides, you get a live narrative (unlike a prerecorded audio tour in Las Vegas!). Glenda, our pilot was nice enough to fly by our hotel for an aerial view! A great way to see so many unexplored areas of the islands!
These folks really know what they're doing, from check-in to completion. Only about 20% of Maui is accessible by car, so seeing it from the perspective of a helicopter was such a treat. It is worth the price, you won't be disappointed.
