We toured the West Maui Mountains & it was amazing! Our pilot was knowledgable, felt confident in his abilities & was very friendly. I would definitely recommend them! Excellent experience!!
First, you have to pay $5 for parking, on top of the expensive trip up to see parts of Maui. My husband and I chose to go see West Maui and Molokai. The service people are not very friendly and seem impatient to get everyone processed as fast as possible regardless as to whether they had a physical disability or not. They had us watch a safety video, and we were later told, no carry on bags of any sort were allowed. 6 people plus the pilot fit into one helicopter: 2 in the front, 4 in the back. There is a video camera in the front on the inside & on the outside, so if you choose to buy the blue ray disc or an SD card, only the 2 front people will be shown on the video, none of the 4 back people. Now, the good about this tour. The view is phenomenal. The height, the angle of the views, the scenery just takes your breath away. Our female pilot took us to some stunning multiple waterfalls at Molokai and we got to hover above the stunning cliffs, lush dormant volcanos, and multi-hued aqua blue waters. Just stunning and spectacular views. Only bad thing was trying to take pictures through the helicopter glass, tended to give off your reflection or glare.
We booked the Complete Maui tour which lasted 65 minutes. Our pilot Glenda was experienced, professional and informative. We had previously driven the perimeter of the island so had a pretty good idea of the lay of the land but nothing compares to seeing it from a helicopter! We booked by phone for a next day tour but if you go to their website and book online with 5 days notice you will get a discounted price. We showed up about 45 min before the flight watched the safety video then waited to be called up for our flight. We boarded the helicopter in our assigned seats based on weight and balance. The ground crew got us belted in, Glenda introduced herself gave us instructions on what to expect and away we went! The whole operation is very professional. The ground crew were very polite and knew what they were doing. I really recommend this tour company! You WILL NOT be disappointed!
People will tell you that if you can only take one chopper trip Kauai is the place to do it, but I disagree. In Kauai, you can see canyons, valleys and the incredible Napali coast. On the Big Island, of course the Waimea Valley is not Napali coast, you can see the beauty of greenery and waterfalls so close you can almost touch it, but can also see all five of Big Island's volcanoes as well as thoroughly inspect the Volcano Park from the top and see the majestic calderas and lava flow with its devastation. If you can afford it, it is a must do. We took a two hour flight from Waikoloa. We were a bit worried about seating (a chopper takes 7 passengers), as they seat you based on weight (yes, you will be weighted before the flight) and only guarantee that one of the two can have a window seat, but we figured out the formula. The lighter people seat by the windows on the back, and the smallest ones seat in front next to the pilot. I sat in the front as I am tiny and the hubby sat in the second row by the window. My was the best seat, although it was sunny and thus toasty in the front, it was worth seating a bit. Our pilot was very pleasant and informative and provided good narration and made sure that people on both sides of the bird got to see an attraction we were over. The trip was simply unforgettable.
Justin Brooke is fantastic! A talented pilot and tour guide. I'll recommend Blue Hawaiian to everyone and to ask for Justin! We enjoyed the view! Thank you Justin!
Trip portion to Hana was cancelled due to cloud coverage. Instead rearranged to do Molokai and lahaina area. The staff didn't offer a discount at first but then when we all complained grudgingly gave us each back $50 refund each. They obviously have a bunch of tourists so you are just a number which seems ridiculous for such an expensive experience but guess that's Maui for you. Overall flight was fun but customer experience could be kicked up a notch.
This was our first time in a helicopter & was not one bit nervous! Our pilot was knowledgable, professional & gave use a SMOOOTH ride. We saw beautiful waterfalls, mountains & valleys. Just breathtaking! I say GO FOR IT!!!
A must-do for a trip to Maui! We had the most spectacular views and our pilot was very knowledgeable and an excellent tour guide. It was worth every penny!!
Truly an exhiliarating experience flying over the active volcano, flying through beautiful valleys, spectacular waterfalls and coastline. Seeing the lava flowing was certainly a unique experience in our life. The Eco-Star helicopter provided panoramic views, the pilot was fun and very knowledgeable and this was one of the best tours we have ever taken.
My wife and I had booked for a helicopter flight and opted for the lower cost A Star 45 minute flight over Molokai. When we arrived to check in we found the staff most pleasant and helpful. When we were called to board we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves on the larger Eco Star. Our pilot Glenda was very experienced and knowledgeable. We found the experience well worth the money and would recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to anyone. Having read some of the negative reviews all I can say is some people must be very hard to please.
What a wonderful way to begin our honeymoon. We had an awesome time the Maui spectacular trip! Our pilot Rick was an awesome tour guide, bar tender and excellent pilot!!! Thanks so much Blue Hawaiian!
After doing a lot of research, I decided that the Blue Hawaiian Maui Spectacular trip was the one we should take. It is 2 hours and you land on a mountain top for a bit. We saw the whole island. I had never been in a helicopter before and was a bit nervous, but it was great! When you sign up you have to provide your weight and they verify it discretely at the heliport. Based on the passengers they assign the seats for balance. You get to be with your partner. We were lucky to ride shotgun, I was right next to the pilot, Ryan. The ride is very relaxing, he has music tied to the areas you visit. We saw so many spectacular waterfalls. The pilot provides information and you can ask questions. You have headphones on and are all strapped in, I looked like the pilot! We stopped atop a mountain, had some champagne and enjoyed the views. If you have the time, you should go on this tour, you see everything, and you go over Hana, so we decided not to do that curvy, long ride. I also selected the Eco-Tour nicer helicopter, if I was going to do this, I wanted to do the best. It definitely was and worth every penny. I would do it again. The staff at the heliport were friendly and Ryan was a friendly and excellent pilot. I would highly recommend this company and this tour.
The flight was fantastic and the Pilot was the best, I have never been in a helicopter before and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.Spectacular way to see Maui!
We were not sure what to expect but having now seen Maui from above we cannot imagine not having done it. What a spectacular tour! Rick is a great pilot and guide. Having had an introduction to how Maui formed from volcanic action during our Hana van tour, seeing it from the sky with Rick's explanation brought it all together.
