This is one of those "must do" stops on Maui. We flew with Captain Chris. It was a very smooth ride, he was very professional, funny, and informative. I didn't feel at all unsafe but I was nervous to begin. They are very safety conscious and took time to instruct us all on emergency procedures. The views and sights were extraordinary. We didn't get to fly over the Haleakala crater because of the weather that day but we flew over west Maui & our resort in Lahaina, Molokai, and Lanai. The sights were amazing & things we would never have seen from the ground, but it is pricey. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Maui.
We recently enjoyed going on the full tour with the bus to Hana, and the helicopter ride back from Hana. On the way to Hana we met our wonderful bus driver, Gary, for our bus ride. We took the Rode to Hana in the bus having a great time along the way. Our tour guide knew a ton about the Rode to Hana and provided us with fun information. We stopped along the way with stops like a waterfall swim, tasty treats like banana bread, and the location from a scene that Jurassic Park was filmed at. We arrived in Hana getting a tour of the small town, and stopping at Wai'anapanapa State Park for lunch. Our tour guide dropped us off at the Hana Heliport as we met our pilot for the ride back. As we boarded our helicopter our pilot thoroughly helped everyone if they needed help and started the helicopter. We were soon in the sky without any trouble. We flew safely with our pilot pointing out things like waterfalls, plants, and more. The island is so green and from the sky you get a stunning bird's eye view of Maui. The pilot played some fun music that we listened to from our headphones that we got on the helicopter. We soon landed happily! We arrived back safely and we loved the trip!
Myself age 68, my daughter 13 and my son 17 did the Maui spectacular tour. It was breathtaking. The aircraft was in outstanding condition, the staff was excellent, the pilot was calm, safe, and friendly. Unfortunately, the Haleakala volcano was fogged in, so we did West Maui and Molkai and landed on a ranch near Oprah Winfrey's property high on the mountainside. The views were spectacular. I bought the USB stick and the Blu-Ray disc and can't wait to see them again. We were in Maui for 8 days and nights, had a fabulous time, and did just about everything there was to do, but we all agreed this was the highlight of our trip. Do not miss this one.
If you are in the Hawaiian islands, you have to take a helicopter tour to really see them! Blue Hawaiian is THE premier helicopter company. They even designed their own helicopter just for touring the islands (the EcoStar). We chose to combine a helicopter tour with a road tour (The Road to Hana Tour). Special thanks to Eric (our pilot) who was very knowledgable and made us feel incredibly safe and comfortable.
This was my husband's first time in a helicopter - he was so thrilled to take this tour over West Maui and Haleakala crater. The locals all say this is the best tour to do by helicopter! The pilot was very knowledgeable and gave an educational dialogue while viewing the scenery. Flashdrives and DVDs were available at reasonable costs after the flight so you can relive the experience anytime!
We went on a 45-minute flight to see Maui and Molokai and we are so glad we did! Despite the rain, we were able to get amazing shots of waterfalls and rugged coastlines and cliffs that were magnificent. Our pilot was confident and competent and very knowledgeable about the area. We were a bit sad that we couldn't see the side of Molokai where the lepers were taken but it was just too rainy and foggy to go there. The rain made the waterfalls swell and instead of the normal one or two, we saw about 10 in one area. And some of them were so furious that they turned brownish with sand and the water below developed a big brown pool. So neat! We liked our tour and the company so much that we booked a 2-hour spectacular on the Big Island to go see the active volcano and more waterfalls! It's quite pricey so save your pennies but do make sure you splurge because this is once in a lifetime!
Beautiful trip for a family of six. We did the hour long tour and it was awesome. This is the second time we had this tour and when we come back we will do it again.
Simply stunning. We had signed up for the full one-hour Maui tour, but Haleakala and the east coast were socked in when we arrived. The friendly and efficient staff were happy to cancel or reschedule our tour, but also strongly recommended the West Maui/Molokai tour, where the weather was clear that day. What a great change of plans!! Molokai, in particular, will blow your mind - 3000 foot waterfalls (as seen in Jurassic Park); the highest sea cliffs in the world; the famous leper colony; the largest coral reef in the US, etc. And enough cannot be said about our pilot. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the history, geography, culture, ecology etc etc of the staggering sights we were seeing, which greatly enhanced an already amazing experience. And, to put a cherry on things, we even managed to spin over to Lanai before heading to the West Maui canyons Utterly unforgettble
For videos, google Blue Hawaii helicopters. The company is at the Heliport on the backside of the Kahalui Air Port. They are well organized. Seating in the helicopter is done by passenger weight. Cameras mounted inside and outside of the helicopter record your entire trip. A DVD is available to purchase when you land. There are waterfalls and rugged beautiful terrain that can only be seen from a helicopter. Our pilot was knowledgeable and gave us interesting facts about Maui, Hana, Sugar Cane and the entertainment megastars who live in Maui. It was a wonderful experience. The helicopters are new and made for touring, so every passenger on board could see. Next time we will take the tour that lands for lunch
Beautiful, AMAZING. Ryan was informative, fun, kind. I did NOT want to get in a helicopter, but it was so smooth and fun. You will see sights you just cannot see any other way.
Great experience with pilot Rick! Was lucky enough to sit in front of heli. Very smooth ride aling astonishing waterfalls and crater pits. Seen waterfalls like you will never see from ground, 5 levels, joining each other into an even bigger fall. Worth every penny!
We took this helicopter ride to Haleakala and Hana and had the best time of the entire trip! Our pilot was fantastic and asked us questions and engaged us throughout the whole ride. Music was perfect--Hawaii 5-0 theme as we took off and somewhere over the rainbow just before a rainbow appeared. Wanted to take another tour but ran out of time. Do a Blue Hawaiin tour if you do nothing else in Maui.
Must do while you are here. We have been coming to Maui for 5 straight years and always wanted to get it booked. Our Expedia Local Expert Andrea set everything up. All the staff at Blue Hawaiian were great. Seriously a must do.
As a former Air Force crew chief I saw a lot of the world through perspex. But I want to say that this tour was the most beautiful I ever saw. Well worth the money. My wife's first helicopter ride and she loved it. Yes, I would do it again . My wife bought the tape, although I wish there was more of the scenery than us inside the chopper.
We booked this whilst on a cruise so it wasn't as cheap as booking direct, but worth every penny. It's the only way to see the best of the island, and the pilot is brilliant, lots of knowledge ad a great communicator. Highly recommended
