Well worth the time and money! We really enjoyed seeing Maui from the air. Excellent pilot, very informative. We enjoyed it so much we did the same on O'ahu with same company! Highly recommend!
On May 16th we took the Molokai/West Maui tour with Rick. It was out first time taking a helicopter tour of any kind. What an amazing experience!!! Rick was wonderful - informative with presenting information in regards to the helicopter, what we where seeing and the history of Hawaii. He answers all of our questions and actually encouraged them. My family absolutely loved the experience and even though I hate to fly I had to say it was something that I am so glad I did. If you do hate to fly I would say try this, it is a totally different feeling and it really is unlike anything else. We were going 130 MPH and it did not even feel like we were moving. When we were over the water or the outer area of the island I was relaxed and really enjoyed it. I personally did get a little nervous when we went in-between the valleys of the islands, but the view was well worth any butterflies that I might have had. I would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and especially Rick. We purchased the DVD of our tour happily (for a fee) and filled up on Blue Hawaiian Helicopter t-shirts. Our next trip to Hawaii will definitely include another tour with them.
Our trip to West Maui/ Molokai was one of the best experiences in my life to date. Yes it's pricey, but I would recommend everyone does this at least once in their life. We paid extra for the Eco Star and it's worth it as everyone gets a good view but I was lucky enough to get a window seat. The seats are allocated according to your weight so don't worry about getting there early to try to get good seats or anything cos it makes no difference. Our pilot was Rick and he was great. Calm yet enthusiastic about all the incredible things we were seeing. We were lucky enough to see a mother and baby humpback whale far below even though it was the last week of April. I don't want to spoil all the surprises of this trip you but trust me it's incredible. Wear dark clothing to limit the reflections on the windows for good picture taking.
You get good views of the valleys, waterfalls from the mountains/cliffs and streams, which otherwise are hard to see. Pilots provide good and useful explanation. We liked the tour but we also left with a feeling that the packages are pricey compared to the value offered.
Glenda The Good Witch was our fabulous pilot. Gave a great tour of Maui and the Crater with entertaining stories of Maui. Wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning. Magical!!
Rick was excellent pilot and very knowledgeable tour guide. I enjoyed every single minute of the flight. Ground crew and front desk service was also excellent, Thank you :) It was well worth of spent.
My husband and I took the tour of West Maui and Molokai. It was one of the best experiences we had on our trip to Hawaii. The staff who helped us with safety measures, including strapping us into our seatbelts as soon as we sat down, were professional, informative, and friendly. Our pilot, Mike, was simply outstanding. When we flew over the water, he was pointing out fish, turtles, and mantarays. Talk about eagle eyes. We also enjoyed the music (and realized it's the same music on our DVD, which we purchased afterwards because the experience was so great). On a side note, finding the heliport can be tricky, so give yourself some extra time in case you get lost. The GPS took us to the regular airport, which is not where the heliport is. The people at the Mariott near the Costco on the way were very helpful in giving us directions like, you're going to be in the middle of nowhere, and, you'll pass a point that has a bunch of cars piled on the side of the road.
The West Maui/Moloka'i trip was by far one of the most incredible adventures I have ever experienced! The views of the sea cliffs, waterfalls, & valleys on Moloka'i were breath-taking, but flying over the coral reef on the east side of the island-WOW! It isn't inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. This Blue Hawaiian tour is worth your time & money!
We had a total of six people in our group so some had better views than others in the chopper. If I had to do it again, I'd try to longer flight that does money of the other / unreachable part of the island with waterfalls. Otherwise, I don't think the money was worth it for me. Having said that, our pilot was wonderful and half our party thought it was a highlight of our trip.
This tour was awesome! The copter ride was fun and the pilot, Ryan, made sure everyone got a clear view of the sights. We learned a lot about the area, including historical points around Maui and Molakai as well as current events like the annual channel swim. The views were truly amazing and this just might be the best way to see the islands!
What a wonderful trip! We did the 65 minute whole island tour with Glenda as our pilot. We live on Maui, but we saw parts of the island that we had never seen before and can only be seen by air. Glenda's narrative was a perfect mix of Hawaiian names and history. It was a surprise to have to pay to park our car after spending so much money on the trip, but this would be my only complaint.
You're in Maui. It may be the only chance you get. Take a helicopter tour! My wife and I recently took the Molokai and west Maui tour on our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience!! The pictures we came back with were breathtaking. We did pay slightly more for the "Eco" copter so we had better seats and went home with a souvenir Blu-ray Disc. It felt like we escaped real life and entered a movie set. The fun thing was they played theatrical scores during the flight (Jurassic Park, Hawaii Five-0, etc.).
A must if in Honolulu. The 45 minute flight covers all of Oahu and you get to see a lot. Sit near a window if possible otherwise your stuck in the middle of the helicopter making it difficult to see. Pick up and return from the hotel was a plus and was included it the cost. Staff very friendly and helpful. If you don't do anything else spend your money on this ride. Also get the DVDs which covers your flight. Great to look at a later date.
This is one of the more expensive things you can do.. But, worth every penny.. I don't especially like the idea of hiking a jungle in the heat, but flying over it was amazing.. I took the flight to molokai, and it was stunning, the cliffs, the waterfalls are all something that no hiking is going give you the same views as you will from the chopper. The people were great, the staff was very professional, and focused on making sure you have a good time, and enjoy the experience.
We took the West Mts and Molokai trip and it was breathtaking! My son said this was the highlight of our trip to Maui and its definitely on the top of my list too! Blue Hawaiian was great and Ryan was a fun and knowledge pilot! Great time!
