Incredible Experience !!
Maui - Kahului

I have been to Maui 9 times over the past 20 years but had never taken a helicopter excursion. We booked a Complete Island tour with Blue Hawaiian in Kahului. When we checked in, we were advised that adverse weather would prevent flying over east Maui and Haleakala Crater. We were offered a refund, rebook or alternate tour to West Maui and Molokai. We chose to proceed despite our disappointment about not seeing Haleakala from the air. To our surprise, we were thrilled with the alternate tour. Seeing Molokai's breathtaking sea cliffs along with the valleys and waterfalls was fantastic. We were able to see mother whales with their calves in the channel between Molokai and Maui. Pilot Mike was amazing......very knowledgeable and friendly and the Ecostar helicopter offered great visibility and comfort. Without the change in itinerary, we would likely never have seen any of Molokai......and how thankful we were for "bad weather" on east Maui !!! Looking forward to another excursion with Blue Hawaiian on our next trip.

Best way to view the volcano on the Big Island, Hawaii
Maui - Kahului

Highly recommended, and don't worry if it is overcast, made it easier to see where the hot spots were. Flight was smooth and very informative.

Awesome Scenery
Maui - Kahului

Only way to see some of the great valleys, waterfalls and shoreline is from a Helicopter. Very professional pilot - very informative and great ride. A bit pricey but worth the time if you want to see some great parts of the islands.

excellent helicopter ride highly reccomend written by an 11 year old
Maui - Kahului

On our trip to Kauai me and my dad went on this beautiful ride on the eco-star. Our pilot was Brandon and he was super nice and answered any question. If you go on this with only 2 people including yourself I would highly reccomend requesting the two front seats you may not get them because seats are chosen by weight. The helicopter was extremely smooth and actually pretty quiet. The seats were very comfortable. The views are amazing and there were hundreds of waterfalls. You will get to see where many movies were made such as Jurrasic Park,Indianna Jones, and countless others. From above you'll see the dramatic landscape and inaccessible areas of the island. You will see a huge waterfall from Jurrasic Park that is truly breathtaking. The whole time you're in the helicopter you have headphones on that are very comfortable and will hear cool hawaiin music whenever nobody is talking. You will also have a small microphone you will share with the person sitting next to you that you can talk to the pilot and all others in the aircraft however when you talk every body hears what you say so you can't talk to just one person. Cellphones are not allowed so don't bring it to take pictures however cameras are allowed. In the helicopter there is a lot of windows to look out of so don't worry if you're sitting in the middle. There are a few minor setbacks I mentioned here but overall these are nothing big. Overall this is an excellent service and would highly reccomend it for people of all ages.

A must do, the only way to see Hawaii.
Maui - Kahului

This was an amazing adventure. Its also the only way you can see the best part of Hawaii. We had booked a helicopter tour on Kauai, but during our stay it rained so much it was cancelled twice. So when we got to the big island, this was first on our list. We had a two hour long flight, and saw everything, volcanoes, lava, waterfalls that you cant even imagine, and also we saw some humpback whales. Highly recommend this one. Our pilot was Toshi, if you have a choice, ask for him when you book it. He was great.

Into the green
Maui - Kahului

Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We saved this until the end of our trip so we can say,"hey we were there". We went with the Maui spectacular that stopped at the base of Haleakala. It was breathtaking seeing south Maui from way up there. After all of it I have to say that the best part was choppering through the west Maui mountains and seeing the drastic change from desert to green. Really cool. I feel they could have done more in Hana. Maybe they just breeze through so you can book the Hana tour separate. Anyway if you have some extra money definitely give this a shot.

WOW
Maui - Kahului

A great trip. The sights from above Maui are incredible. We also got to go accross the channey to Molakai and see the waterfall there. All I can say about this is wow. We had a great flight with a knowledgeable pilot who talked to us throughout the flight and the two way conversation really added to the trip as he could aswer a couple of questions. If you can do it, the do it.

So glad we did this
Maui - Kahului

We took the 50 minute tour on the ecostar. You definitely want to splurge for this better copter. Much more comfortwable and better visibility. Great views of the volcano and waterfalls. We were able to see glowing lava areas. Our pilot was very knowledgeable. Please, parents, consider carefully whether you bring your kids. We were with a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Both kids got ill, one vomiting twice. Thankfully the incidents were isolated enough that it didn't effect us, but the ride was torture for them.

Nothing they could have done better
Maui - Kahului

The staff, facilities and tour were excellent. The staff did everything they could to make the tour as personal as possible. We definitely recommend the EcoStar helicopters as the windows are much bigger and provide great views. Our pilot was very informative and did a great job of making the tour as interactive as possible. The staff made sure after we landed to take pictures of all of us next to the helicopter. We took the West Maui/Molokai trip and the waterfalls on Molokai were spectacular.

Surreal from start to finish
Maui - Kahului

Let me start off by saying that I have had a life long fear of heights and extreme motion sickness. My now husband & I went to Maui to get married & enjoy the perfect honeymoon island & decided that a helicopter tour would be a once in a lifetime chance to see some scenery that we could only see by helicopter. I have read people say that Maui isn't particularly special for this kind of tour but I couldn't disagree more. Despite the fact that I felt like vomiting the entire time because of my motion sickness, it was still one of the most stunning & surreal experience!! Our pilot (wish I could remember his name correctly) was hilarious from start to finish & that alone distracted me from the fear/ sickness haha. It was smooth, beautiful & gave my Husband & I something special that we will remember forever & even got great pictures despite the glass and being in a moving helicopter. For us it was money & time well spent.

View to kill for!!
Maui - Kahului

My sister and I went to Blue Hawaiian. Love this...I recommend this to anyone. We had Jason as our pilot and he was great. Told us right off that it was not a lecture and ask any question. We did the West Maui Tour and it was incredible. I cannot explain the peace I felt as we flew over the valleys. Take the time and do this trip. Also get the DVD...it is great memory of your flight..not a generic one...

Highlight of our trip to Maui!
Maui - Kahului

Fantastic! We did the Maui Spectacular Tour with the landing and pleased with the trip would be an understatement. Our pilot, Glenda was the best! The helicopter was only 8 years old, in perfect condition, comfortable, A/C worked great and the best part, since the helicopter was designed and built specifically for Blue Hawaiian, the visibility was fantastic from every seat. Be sure to wear at least a dark shirt though so that your reflection in the windows don't hamper your ability to take pictures. It was quite windy the day we went but with Glenda at the controls, you couldn't tell it and it was an extremely comfortable ride. We WILL do it again on our next trip.

Top notch experience
Maui - Kahului

Definitely well worth the money! (just remember you are dealing with forces of nature from weather to lava flows not everything is under there control.). We took our two boys who we are adopting from out states foster program so this trip was a celebration. Tim our pilot made this experience great! The boys keep talking about while at school. Tim, thanks for making this experience the best! Oh. We did see lava!

Best helicopter experience to date!
Maui - Kahului

I've been on helicopters on nearly all the Hawaiian Islands, and this was our first time on Blue Hawaiian and first time over Maui. Shortly after this flight I did a second flight over Maui with a company that offered 'doors off', because I'm a photographer and wanted to have the best images without shooting through glass. Some of you may be in that same situation. There are pros and cons of both, but Blue Hawaiian truly shines as one of the best experiences in the air. Their helicopters are modern, the headsets and music are great, the pilots are very tenured and experienced, and very accommodating to the needs of photographers (for example, allowing passengers on both sides of the aircraft an opportunity to see key sights). As it turns out, the photos I took on the Blue Hawaiian flight turned out better than the photos I took on my doors off flight. A little bit of that may have been the weather and the days I flew on. But I found the reflection through the glass to be much more minimal than I expected. And my pictures were sharp because there was no wind and much less vibration in the helicopter (doors off copters are older, more jerky and much much more window). I liked both experiences, but I was tremendously pleased with my experience with Blue Hawaiian. The pilot was a little chatty, there were times I would've liked to have the music and scenery speak for itself. But he was also informative and very friendly. I'd fly Blue Hawaiian again and can really recommend them. Photographers should consider wearing darker clothes to minimize at least your own reflection, and a 24-105 zoom lens was perfect. Didn't need a polarizing lens and I've read they don't work well through chopper glass. A friend brought a bigger zoom (70-200 range) and missed a lot of shots being too close up. And remember to take time to put the camera down and enjoy the moments of flying.
