We went on the Blue Hawaii's EcoStar flight from Maui to Molokai. It was an hour trip started at 12;00PM and it was the best way to see the islands! We saw water falls and mountain ridges from the sky that we couldn't have seen. The pilot was an excellent guide. She was explaining the islands and pointing out sites as we flew by. The flight was pricy (probably pricer than other companies), but I think it was worth it. We even bought the DVD of our actual flight. It was worth it! Now I want to go on the flight to Volcano now... ok, next trip!
We enjoyed our one hour helicopter tour from Hilo. At this time, helicopter is the ONLY way to see any lava, so if that is something you want to see, this is the way to go. The lava is not as spectacular as it has been in the past, but the view of the caldera is amazing, and the only way to truly see inside the caldera is to get above it in a helicopter. In addition to flying over the lava (which was flowing, like a red stream, across the landscape), the helicopter ride also gives you a unique perspective on the land. And our pilot took us by some waterfalls, and out over the ocean, where we were able to observe 3 humpback whales, from above—an amazing sight, that, alone, would have made this trip well worthwhile.
I'm a first time helio flyer. This was a trip to remember. The views were fantastic. Pilot was knowledgeable, friendly and very experienced. Staff was curtious at every moment. Ride was smooth with occasional bumps due to wind sheer, but other then that, had a blast. The waterfall's were amazing and the stop on the ranch on the hill gave a jaw dropping site. The rainforest was spectacular, so dense but beutiful. Saw old lava flows, black sand beaches, even the road to lana from the air. Pilot flew over land and sea and made sure everyone got a view of the special sites. We did not get a chance to look at the crater due to the weather, but that did't bother me a bit. Better safe then sorry. After checking the reviews of the other company's i've chosen Blue Hawaiian, and i don't regret it one bit. Thank you Blue Hawaiian for a wonderful experiance. One recommendation: I highly recommend 2 stop flights to the big island to see the active lava flow. I know you do charters but they are very expensive and most people won't do that. Recommend cost of 600.00 / person for the ultimate ride from maui to the helio port on the big island and then route to the views of the active volcano. I would of def of done both this maui experience and the big island if it was available.
We've flown with Blue Hawaiian before and so on this trip to Maui it was an easy choice that did not disappoint us. We did the "round the island" trip which gave us a fantastic overview of Maui and helped us to put locations and places we later planned to visit in perspective. We were upgraded to an EcoStar which is the best as far as viewing ability is concerned. As in the past, the pilot was excellent and the flight was smooth showing us sights there simply is no other way to see. Thanks, Blue Hawaiian, for getting our trip off to a great start!
We used Blue Hawaiian for our Kaua'i helicopter tour, and it was great. The company emphasized safety and fun from the start. They assign your seat according the weight to ensure good weight distribution on the flight, which we thought was a plus (not a negative as some posted)...glad to see they were thinking of safety. Everyone views a safety video and gets life preserver packs to wear before going onboard. The flight itself was very nice; the pilot navigated the sites beautifully with narration on everything we were seeing, and answered all questions. The sites were incredible. The aircraft seemed very new and it was comfortable. Overall: highly recommended if doing a helicopter tour on Kaua'i.
I am a helicopter pilot and FAA Pilot Examiner. I was impressed with the professionalism and safety practices Blue Hawaiian uses. I was very impressed with their equipment and state of the art video of the flight that was available. The flight was absolutely breath taking and the staff was extremely personable. I recommend Blue Hawaiian to anyone, whether they have been on a helicopter before or not. Safety is obviously Blue Hawaiian's top priority; they will make your flight personal and very enjoyable! Blue Hawaiian is a must do when visiting Hawaii!!!
I am a flightattendant, and had never been in a helipcopter before and was a bit nervous. The pilot was wonderful he calmed my nerves and I had a blast. The flight was beautiful and smooth. I will absolutely do this again. Thank you so much.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was amazing. We purchased the Maui Spectacular flight plan and it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly. Our Pilot, David, did a great job providing a smooth ride and sharing tidbits of information during the flight. Half-way through the flight we stopped on the side of the mountain for some Pineapple champagne. We would highly recommend this trip to everyone. The views that you will see are unparalleled. Our only regret was that we only went once.
We flew Blue Hawaiian and it was a great tour with a very professional pilot. We got closer to the terrain than on any helicopter tour we've taken, but it was not frightening. Our pilot was a true "pilot" who knew his stuff. The views around every turn were so stunning, that I noticed we were getting "wow"-spoiled after a while. Don't lose your sense of awe. My only complaint is that the DVD was poor quality - I suspect that is because they get it ready so quickly. I'd prefer a better DVD even if I had to wait. But that's nit-picking - don't miss a helicopter of Maui. Worth every penny.
My husband and I just got "Maui'd" a few days ago and my brother gave us a helicopter ride on our last morning in Maui for a wedding present. Truthfully, I wasn't entirely sure it'd be as amazing as he said it was. For one, I tend to get car sick and I'm not a big fan of planes so I wasn't sure how I'd do on a helicopter. However, I took a couple of dramamines and figured- what the heck! It was AMAZING! We were upgraded to the eco-star helicopter and took the West Maui/Molokai tour. Truly beautiful views and amazing photo/video opps. I was seated in what was, in my opinion, the best seat in the house- on the left side right behind Emery, our pilot (who was also AWESOME!). He pointed out the Olowalu Plantation House where we were just married and we got some great video footage to add to our wedding videos. Now for the outstanding customer service- after returning to the mainland, my husband has been searching around the house trying to find his most favorite hat which has a lot of special meaning to him. He couldn't find it anywhere and it finally clicked- we had to check it in at their desk because hats weren't allowed on the ride. I called and sure enough, they still had it and they were willing to ship it home to us. Thank you so much Blue Hawaiian Helicopters! We hope to return soon and it was an amazing last hoorah before leaving Maui.
For our first ever helicopter ride, we went with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, described as the "Cadillac" of tour operators. We were not disappointed!! We rode in the Eco-Star (definitely worth the extra money) and every person had a great view! I was able to take so many pictures and communicate with the pilot. He made sure to highlight all the waterfalls, reefs, cliffs, etc. and turned the helicopter so that each side of the group could get a view right next to it. When we go back to Hawaii, we plan on taking another ride with Blue Hawaiian!!
We took the Blue Hawaiian complete island helicopter tour of Maui, and are very, very glad we decided to do so! Maui has numerous and large waterfalls, gulches, and other areas that simply can't be seen any other way other than by air. Our one hour+ tour was made even better by a thoroughly knowledgeable pilot (Mike), who not only explained each of the sights with historical knowledge and keen "local" insights, but also ensured that the more gotta-have-a-photo ones were circled a couple of times so that all 6 passengers could get a good view of the sight. We opted for the Echo-Star helicopter that provides large viewing area from the large side and front windows. Each of the 4 riders in the back seat have individual and spacious seats, while the 2 up front have a wonderful view through the front window. Each rider is also provided a high-quality headset from which to listen to the pilot's narrative while drowning out the insignificant helicopter engine/rotor noise - we were also provided a microphone from which to ask the pilot questions. Each customer is also provided the opportunity to purchase a keepsake DVD that captures the tour - not an off-the-shelf, commercial DVD about Maui, but rather a DVD of the specific tour that you just went on, including the visuals and pilot narrative that were recorded by the 4 cameras on the helicopter (a bargain at $25 a DVD). We will certainly choose Blue Hawaiian Helicopters when we visit the other islands when we return to Hawaii for another vacation.
We did the EcoStar helicopter/full island tour. The pilot was very professional and informative, and we got to see the volcano, coastline, Hana, etc. We didn't go North past Lahaina, and for a full island tour I expected we'd go all around it. Anyway, it was a neat way to see the island, and since I've never been in a helicopter before. I think that my husband and I built the helicopter ride up so much in our head that we were a bit disappointed, but it was still very neat.
we took the volcanoe tour which last 45 minutes and we loved it. it is true that you dont see much lava because of the day light but you get to see the cratere and you have nice overview of the lava flow. We had a very young pilotwho was very nice and very competent. We felt very safe during the all trip. The chopper are clean and well maintained.
If you ever get the chance, I’d highly recommend a helicopter ride around any of the Islands of Hawaii. While it can be expensive depending on which flight you choose, the chance to fly deep into the valleys and gorges to see magnificent hidden waterfalls is worth the cost. I'd recommend Blue Hawaiian because they have the best ratings, reviews, and are very friendly and professional. The helicopters they use are very spacious, comfortable and there is plenty of window viewing area. You'll wear a cushy headset from which you can listen to the pilot describe the scenery or ask questions. Their choice of background music is excellent and includes many original Hawaiian artists. On this particular flight, we saw some of Maui's most beautiful valleys, rain forest, and waterfalls. They stop atop a private landing spot on the slopes of Haleakala to pop a bottle of champagne and let you take pictures. Then from there its on to the top of the Haleakala Volcano. After you've gotten your fill of the mountain, the flight continues on towards the little coastal town of Hana which takes several hours to get to by car. Beyond that you'll get to see millionaire estates of the rich and famous, including a peek at Wolfgang Puck's sweet Maui ranch. All in all a fantastic way to see the Islands of Hawaii if your willing to shell out around $400 per person. You could go with the A-Star over the Eco-Star from Blue Hawaiian for $50 less, but the Eco-Star is larger and more comfortable with better window viewing.
