Scott was very knowledgeable and great pilot! He made the ride fun and very interesting. Points of interest were AWESOME, we have flown with Blue Hawaiian last year and we will be flying Blue Hawaiian again because of the great staff and equipment for sure! Thanks again Scott! We hope to see you again. Remember to add the Jurassic Park song to the tour per Cohen :)
This was my second time flying with Blue Hawaiian on this island. Both times were memorable. Esther was a great pilot. She was very knowledgeable in the history of the island and the volcanoes. The flight was wonderful. Se gave us terrific views of the fissures, especially the most active from which the lava river flowed. The entire experience was top rate. Thanks Esther, and thanks, Blue Hawaiian. -- Jack Gordon
Simply amazing! The highlight of our trip! To see the lava shooting up out of fissure 8 was unlike anything we've ever experienced. So glad we booked the flight!
Very informative pilot. Great view of the new volcano activity. Awesome! A must do.
This was our 25th anniversary. I booked a helicopter for our family of five, and because I was over their limit we had to pay extra to leave the 6th seat open. It was worth it. The seats are reasonable in space but when you're moving around looking at stuff, having that extra seat open was great. Wesley our pilot, was experienced, friendly and answered all of our questions. As a pilot myself, he took all the necessary measures to insure our safety and comfort. He allowed my wife and I to give our little 25 year speeches to each other and said it was the best he'd ever heard(probably fudging that a little, but who cares). We flew right over Kiluea and go some amazing photos. It's a 45-55 minute flight and because of the lava flows it was totally mesmerizing. So thrilled to see it. Blue Hawaiian did a great job. Their gift shop is a bit crowded when the new group is coming in for their briefing, but other than that, they ran a great operation. Highly recommended. Not cheap but worth it.
The best and only way to see the lava flow from fissure 8. Awe inspiring views. It was my 7 year old son’s first helicopter ride and he loved it. We saw the lava pouring out from the fissure and were amazed to see it flow into the ocean. Spencer, our pilot was skilled and informative. Try to book early since the first two dates I tried were already booked. Remember to wear dark clothes due to reflections. If you forget, they will provide you a dark shirt to wear over your shirt.
10/10! Spectacular! Once in a lifetime opportunity! Seeing the volcano from the air was chilling but educational for our us and our kids. They loved it. The waterfalls were breathtaking and the matched music played through the headphones was such a fabulous idea. The coastline of the Big Island must be seen. Very professional team at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. One of my most memorable helicopters rides ever.
The Helicopter was great, very comfortable. The headsets worked well. 4 of the 6 seats have great views (the two middle had good views). We went to the Kohala Coast and the views were incredible. Do to lots of recent rains the waterfalls were numerous and run-in very full. Saw the 3rd largest waterfall in the world as told by John our pilot. Fortunately the weather was great. WE could not ride in the Hilo area due to volcano activity.
Even though we did not have best weather (no sunshine) it was fantastic experience. Our pilot Geoff was the best. He gave us a lot of information about the island, when we experience a little turbulence he calmly explained us that this happens on every flight and it is nothing to be afraid of. During the flight he engaged us in the conversation. At the check in they were super nice and the safety presentation was thanks to some very interactive staff very dynamic. Our flight was my early birthday present for my mum, so I asked them if it is possible to be in the front. They told me they will put that in the computer but it will be pilot’s decision on the sit order. We did get front sits. Thank you very much for that. My mum enjoyed it very much. I read in a lot of comments that the lighter person gets the front sit. Since we were the smallest in our group maybe this was also a reason why we ended up there. When you return you can buy USB key of your flight (including the recording of the conversation) for $42. It is expensive but on the other hand it is nice to have it to watch and remember it later on. It is worth the money (even though it is very expensive). You can get the filling of the whole island and it is one time life experience. Advice: Wear dark clothes
Our helicopter tour with our pilot Barrett was one of the highlights of our trip. The views were stunning and Barrett was amazing. He made all of us feel comfortable and told us so much about the history of Kauai..... my favorite fact was that Barrett was The Rock’s body double on the last film made there.....yea.....we believed that Barrett!! He was very amusing!
Being from Hawaii, sometimes we can become accustomed to the beauty that surrounds us everyday. Taking a tour in a Helicopter is not something people even think to do...but they should! Seeing Oahu from the air with Blue Hawaiian has given me a lasting impression and new found awe of an island that I have lived on for most of my life. They have an excellent safety rating and use modern helicopters that feature individual seats and Bose headsets. As an aviation enthusiast and student pilot, I can say that most people in the aviation industry will agree that Blue Hawaiian is among the best air tour operators in the state.
My family voted to take this helicopter tour to see Maui. 65 minutes of terror for me and sheer joy for them! We were 5 passengers each equipped with cameras. I was in the front seat with the pilot and enjoyed seeing everything from up high, but admittedly got very quiet towards the end when the pilot did this 360, so my family in the back could see the valley up close just below the line of clouds. I would strongly recommend this tour. Just remember to bring your Dramamine and Sea Bands!
On a morning when 7 helicopters took off, only two made it past the clouds to see the lava and the rest returned. We were amazed by our trip. Our pilot Shawn got us close to the lava, circled making tight turns to help all 6 on the helicopter see the brilliant sites. In this case the tight turns are a complement, no one complained of it being rough. When we landed, we learned that the other helicopter that made it up wasn't happy with the amount they were able to see. I highly recommend this tour, choosing the eco star helicopters, and if you can request Shawn as the pilot. Great trip.
Mark was fantastic: very knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you everyone who helped make our honeymoon treat so wonderful!
Had a scheduled flight to see the volcano on the Big Island. We arrived on the gate, watch the instruction video /presentation and had no idea there was any issue with our flight. When we were assembled getting ready to board, we were informed that our helicopter was grounded due to mechanical issues. It would of been nice to find out earlier or a notification that there may be issues with our flight. This would of made it easier to adjust our schedule. At that point we had checked out of our hotel and we would not of done that if we thought there might be an issue with our flight. The agent was very helpful and apologized for our problem, she helped with our cancellation to the travel company that we booked it with. We have used Blue Hawaiian before and never had a issue. I guess the good News is we were not on the aircraft with a mechanical issue.
