A privilege and unique experience
Kauai - Lihue

We flew as a group of four friends, but this reviewer herself was the one unwilling and incredibly nervous participant. While three weeks out now from it and still not sure I will ever do a helicopter ride again, I can't say enough great things about the Blue Hawaiian experience we had. I'm grateful my friend chose this company, as their professionalism and process was excellent from start to finish. I was very, VERY nervous upon arrival and was happy to be greeted immediately by a polished desk staff and very welcoming and modern facility. From the lockers to store your stuff (as you're not allowed more than your phone on board), to coffee bar and well set up theater/prep area and gift shop. The briefing procedure was calm and clear. You're also in a somewhat private space - which I appreciated due to my nerves. Our escort out to the helicopter pad felt very safe and controlled, and coordinated by 2-3 staff members - so I felt looked after. Our pilot Brian made this nervous wreck feel immediately at ease with his bright smile and friendly, mellow Tennessee accent. I was grateful to be seated between him and my husband - in the front for great views, and bumpered with one hand to squeeze (husband) and Brian to glance over to for not just great entertainment (his narration of sites and fact was fabulous), but also for reassurance. While I might still be weary of helicopter flying again, that's a personal situation and not at all because of this company. They were terrific, and because of their wonderful service and care, I was able to push myself through what will always be an incredible memory and experience. For those who may also be nervous and trying to decide whether to peer pressure yourself like I did - go for it with Blue Hawaiian (and Brian, if you want to make a request). They'll take very good care of you. FYI - I took a Dramamine and wore Seabands, as a preemptive measure. Partly because of my recent uneasiness with flying in general, but also because of my general nerves. Worked for me. The feeling of hovering was still something I didn't quite get used to regardless, but i made it through and it truly is manageable for the 50 minutes and the incredible opportunity. You can do it...even if you don't ever want to do it again afterwards, you can do this. I did!

Informative
Big Island - Hilo

We took this helicopter ride in Hilo and were fortunate to get it in. It was a very informative ride and the Ego helicopter has full windows which allowed us all to see well. However, when we were there, flights before and after us were cancelled because of rain. I probably would recommend booking it from the other side of island as Hilo gets lots of intermittent rain showers. We took it when on a cruise.

One of the best experience we have ever had. Gardner was like poetry in the way he expressed himself and told us the story of the islands. We are extremely happy and recommend anyone to do this amazing trip. Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

So glad I made myself go!
Kauai - Lihue

I had never been in a helicopter and was quite nervous about it, but having hiked in some gorgeous spots on Kauai, I was eager to get the view from above. Our pilot was a lovely host with a slightly dorky sense of humor that I found charming and put me at ease. I did have a primo spot in front (I'm very tall), which gave me probably the best views. I'd go again in the heartbeat. And do yourself the favor of just being in the moment and not taking too many photos or video. Spend the extra money (I think it was about $40) at the end and buy the video. One of the cameras was a little fogged up and isn't quite as crystal clear, but I am glad I took advantage of the experience by letting my mental recorder be amazed at what I was seeing.
