I did the 50 minute door's off helicopter tour of the island while visiting Oahu. At first I will admit I was considering the door's on experience and after talking to the folks at Makani Kai they had me reconsider the Door's off experience and I do not regret it! The door's off flight was awesome. It is intense though- the wind whirling around and all the sights of Oahu coming by you from the right and the left. Definitely follow their tips about dressing warm! My face was still frozen for an hour after I finished the flight. You can't have anything in your pockets so just FYI will need 4 quarters for the locker and $5 for a case to strap your phone if you don't have a camera with a strap or a strap for your phone. Transportation from your hotel is included if you are on Waikiki Beach and they are all total professionals. Would 100% recommend this group. Had a blast even though I was like 90% excited and 10% scared about the door's off - they did a great job with the safety briefings and making sure we were all safe. AND you will have the most amazing photos and videos!!

Evan, our tour guide was great! He was very friendly and did his best to make sure we were comfortable. He had a great sense of humor which made the experience even better! The views were breathtaking. I highly recommend the 60 minute tour.

Had a fantastic time with Evan our pilot. Really was informative and a great pilot. Did everything that he could do that everyone could get a great view and photos. Would highly recommend this company

We flew with Pilot Jim on 2/13/17 and had a terrific experience. The winds didn't allow for us to keep with the normal itinerary, but we still saw so many wondrous sights of Oahu. The ride was smooth, even though it was a windy day; and Jim kept us entertained with lots of facts about the things we were seeing from the air. The entire staff and crew of Makani Kai were professional and courteous. I would highly recommend them and hope to use their services again one day!

Pilot Jim was the best! Highly recommend this experience with doors off! Jim entertained us the whole way and provided us with beautiful history about the island. Would defiantly do it again! One advise- rug up ;) From tash and the ladys😁 (feb 24th 2017)

We really loved our helicopter flight, the island is so pretty from up there and it's so cool without the doors. Highly recommended !

We had an amazing ride with Pilot Jim! His commentary and knowledge of the island was very impressive. The whole crew at Makani Kai Helicopters was great! My husband and I flew with Pilot Jim on a Open Doors flight! It was our first time on a helicopter. Jim was knowledgable and funny and we were shown amazing views. Would highly recommend!

Jim was funny, engaging,and very knowledgeable.I was a bit nervous at first, but with his humor, put me at ease right away!!The views were awesome,and Jim made sure we all received them!! The weather was perfect for our doors off tour. Jeff was our pilot and he was fantastic! So full of knowledge about the sites he showed us. We even got to see some whales which was incredible. I would highly recommended paying the extra and sitting up front. You can see so much more and hear everything the pilot has to say. The couple in the back said it was a great ride but you can't hear anything from the back. I would with out a doubt do this again! Thanks to Jeff and all the staff for making such a memorable moment for us.

This would have to be a personal highlight of our trip to Oahu. This was my third helicopter flight but a first with no doors! Exhilarating to say the least! Our pilot Jim was hugely experienced, had a fantastic insight to the island and also entertained us with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend this trip. Mahalo Jim and Makati Kai helicopters.
