This was our first time doing a helicopter tour, and this one did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations!!! Our pilot's name was Josh and he was very personable, nice, and very knowledgeable. He even had theme music which was absolutely perfect, especially while flying over the volcanoes. We did the waterfall landing and that was just the cherry on top. We also saw some whales and Josh got us nice and close to them. We were very impressed and would love to do another tour through them in the future, definitely recommend this tour!!!
Blue Hawaiian offers an epic experience by landing in a remote waterfall location that is accessible only by helicopter. The experience comes complete with champagne, cheese and crackers in a very remote corner of paradise where a 400' waterfall meets the ocean. Ask specifically for GREG, he is an excellent pilot with awesome hosting skills. Greg knows how to provide the right amount of attention and privacy for your group at the same same time. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and specifically, Greg as the pilot,....Mahalo!
My wife and I did this tour last week which I booked online. I was sent an email confirmation of the trip and the details such as arrival time and what you should wear(dark clothes). I was scheduled for the 0915 trip but ended up changing it to the early trip which I did via email. We arrived and checked in and were both weighed. This is so they can place you on the aircraft in the right spot so the weight is distributed properly. A safety video is watched before you fly explaining the procedures in the event of an emergency. We were introduced to our Pilot, Toshi. He was an amazing pilot who took us over the volcanoes and various waterfalls. He was very enlightening and encouraged questions throughout the trip. He was funny and very safety conscious as well. I think he said he was flying for 21 years and you could tell he was good by the way he handled his aircraft. Our trip lasted for two hours and was one of the highlights of our visit to the Big Island! I know this is an expensive tour, however I would highly recommend paying the extra money to land at the waterfall along the coast. We wanted to but they only allow so many landings at the falls for each trip and our time was already booked for this. I was envious of the two helo’s that were on the ground as we flew overhead.
This is the best way to see Kona. What a fantastic trip to see Kona and Hilo. The flight over the volcanos, seeing the humpback whales, and the whole island of Hawaii was spectacular. Our tour guide Matt was the best. Definitely a must if you come to Kona.
My husband and I opted for this tour -- and it did not disappoint. Our pilot, Shane, was amazing and full of history and facts about this diverse ecosystem. But just when you think you have seen it all -- you land at a remote waterfall and when the mist hits your face -- well words cannot describe. Mahalo Shane and staff at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!!!!!
I would give this experience ten stars if I could!! It is pricey, but beyond worth it!!! Our pilot was Toshi and he was excellent, fantastic, superior & FUNNY! He knew everything about where we flew. His narrative combined with the scenery & the onboard music made the trip! BREATHTAKING! And the only way to see most of what we saw, is by air. The cliffs near the valleys are stunning! A must see! GO DUCKS!
Spectacular views of the island - Kilaueau volcano crater, Kohala Valley, Waipi'o Valley, Hilo and its rain, and the changing terrain that coexists on a single island. Our pilot Toshi was amazing - very knowledgeable about the island's history and a great tour guide. The waterfall landing was also a special treat - a bit pricey and amazing experience to get that up close and personal to a 800 foot waterfall. Great experience and would highly recommend

How else can I put it... If you can do this trip,DO IT. I had taken the Kohala tour earlier this year (when I was on business here without the family) and enjoyed it so much that when we decided to spend the holidays on the island, the Big Island trip was my present to the whole family.(Grandma, mom, dad and both two girls, 13 &10.) COVID protocols (temp checks, masks, sanitizer)were well in place and the only time we were allowed to unmask was for the picture you see. After a short safety video and attaching our life vest belts we were off. Little did we know what we had in store. We met our pilot Toshi and were loaded onboard in the seating assignment the had picked. Turns out both girls got front row seats while the adults took the back. My youngest was seated right next to Toshi and he dubbed her the de facto copilot and tour guide. What did she want to see? Where did she want to go? Highlights: *Kilauea awoke days before our arrival. Had the chance to see the lava lake and fountains of lava! *Toshi’s extensive island knowledge and pilot skills. 23 years working for this company, you can tell the man loves his work, and it shows. WHAT AN WONDERFUL TIME HE GAVE OUR FAMILY! He kept joking with my daughter “This waterfall is 800 feet tall, what do you think?” She’d says how cool/awesome it was. “I can tell you’re not impressed, Let’s go find a bigger one!”.😊 The final leg of the trip was so beautiful that it brought our entire family to tears! Simply cannot recommend Blue Hawaiian helicopter tours enough, and if you can book a whole helicopter ask for Toshi! If not and you get lucky enough to get Toshi as your pilot, be ready for the best tour ever!
I could not give this enough stars. It is not cheap but they give you an experience you will never forget. Such beautiful views, knowledgeable pilot, and attentiveness makes this a must do while in Hawaii. Greg was our pilot and he was absolutely amazing at his job and above with being friendly and caring of each passengers comfort and experience! We landed near a waterfall which added to the breath taking adventure.
The are a lot of things people recommend or describe on vacations as "experience of a lifetime" and most are not. This was! What a ride. A two hour tour over amazing waterfalls, volcanic lands, and the active volcano! I was lucky as the sky was clear and the seeing inside the crater was amazing. Outstanding informative pilot, top quality clean and new looking helicopter, a well organized safety/orientation presentation and views that are without equal. One of the best things I have done on a trip, and certainly a huge highlight on the big island.
It wasn't a first for us but if you've never been in a helicopter you just might want to take the two hour trip around the island of Hawaii. The helicopters are clean, comfortable and maintained. From the air you will fly into the valleys, see the spectacular coastline, fly over the volcano and more. We even saw some whales. While the experience isn't cheap, the trip is definitely worth it and if you pay $100 more you can get a front seat. Our pilot, Shane, was interesting and provided a lot of information.
This is not an inexpensive activity, but it's an amazing one! The geology and landscape of this island is incredible, and this trip shows you a lot of it! Our pilot was Marco, and Marco is such a nice guy. He engages with the guests, and is very good about explaining the various aspects of the island - the volcanoes, the various lava flows, waterfalls, valleys, etc. Marco is also good about explaining what's going to happen next (e.g. it's going to get a little bumpy, but it's perfectly safe).
This was the most expensive thing I did on my trip and it was worth every single penny! Seeing the island from the air was incredible. The lava flows, the volcanos, the coastline, the valleys, were all spectacular. The crew at Blue Hawaii was very professional and our pilot was awesome.
Nice pilot and helicopter. Called to book the front seat for myself and GF for the Big Island Spectacular 2h ride (and paying extra) and were provided with several time slots that worked. When we arrived, we were seated in the back middle and window. Pilot and ground crew could do nothing so figured we would address it when we returned. What they didn't disclose was that the 2h trip includes about a 30 min diversion to Hilo airport where you land and change aircraft for 25 min or so. Then the second half of the flight is virtually all flying northerly along the coast so if you're on the starboard side of the aircraft, you mostly will get pictures out to see. When we landed (again), no one was available in the office to speak with. Disappointing and had there been full disclosure, we would have gone another time, taken another operator, etc.
