We did a bit of research and decided to go with Makani Kai Helicopters as it was more affordable and they had last minute availability. We also got a free hotel pick up, which was great, as we didn't have a car to get there. Our pilot was Richard, and we did the 30 minute flight. It was breathtaking and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. I felt very safe and the whole experience was very professional. 30 minutes goes very quickly, so in hindsight, I wish I had gone a bit longer but overall still worth it. We paid a little extra to have seats at the front of the helicopter - I highly recommend this. The views were spectacular!!

My son talked us into doing it as he wanted to go, and I'm glad he did. There were five people booked for the flight but the other two were a no show so we had the pilot and helicopter to ourselves, window seats for all. Morley our pilot was along time resident of the island and had the history and knowledge of those years. We were staying at Ko Olina Kia were we met the helicopter at 0830 Saturday. We went in an anti clock direction heading out over Pearl Harbour and onwards to Waikiki, circumnavigating the Island till we arrived back at the west coast some 60 minutes later. With Morley at the controls we felt very safe. Even though the cloud cover was a bit low Morley made sure we saw as much as he could show us, over ridges and down the valleys, checking out film locations and all the history sites this island had to offer. A great way to see Oahu, I'm glad my son talked me into it.

First time ever in a helicopter, Jim (Magnum) made my family and I comfortable and at ease, telling us what he was going to do before he did it so I won't get scared and swear. I trusted him completely! His sense of humor and knowledge made it an awesome trip. Would definitely go high up with him again.

Took the hidden treasure of Oahu tour, just fantastic. Pilot provided great narrative and avoided the bumps where possible. Highly recommend! Ground staff photographed us with the Hawaii 5.0 helicopter being a huge fan I was mega impressed!

I took the same flight as Adiene from Montreal Canada. Our pilot Jim(Magnum) made the trip so over the top with his narrative. He was wonderful. I recommend flying with him. This was the best way to see this beautiful island. So totally worth it. Took the Hidden Oahu tour. Might try the doors off tour one day.

Our pilot Doug provided a great narrative for the beautiful sites of Oahu via the "Hidden Oahu" tour. Doug was truly amazing, his knowledge of the landmarks and quirky facts was a great touch. He helped with my family as first time flyers anticipating any updrafts and communicating accordingly in advance. What a highlight for our trip, highly recommended. Thanks Doug!

I did the doors off tour with Makani Kai in Honolulu, one of the best things I've ever done on holiday! I cannot recommend it enough. Fantastic views going around the island, through the mountains in the centre and finally flying over Pearl Harbour. It's not for the faint of heart, there are parts where you are basically looking straight down during a steep turn, but I never felt unsafe or worried. I would advise wearing something over your t-shirt and some sunglasses, as it will be windy.

Helicopters are a whole different animal from air planes. The good news is the pilot we had was a gunship pilot, he was a marine.nso basically, he knew what he was doing. The views are incredible, you can see parts of the island no longer available to see from the public, like Manoa falls. You can also see huge waves from the sky, cool grooves in the tall mountains from where the water made its way down..,rainforest and do much more. It's incredibly beautiful and a must for your bucket list!

My family and I did the Ali'i Sacred Falls Tour and being terrified of heights I was expecting to have a scary time of it. The staff were very efficient. We were collected on time from our hotel and driven to the landing site. We were then offered the use of the bathroom before take-off. Shortly after, we were given life preserver belts and shown how to fit them and use them and taken out to the helicopter. We met our pilot who was friendly, funny and set us at ease. We were given allotted seating to balance the weight of the helicopter but still family members were kept together in two's. The staff member got us all securely fitted with seat belts and we were given headsets to listen to the pilot during flight. Fairly quickly, the doors were closed, engine on and we were gently lifting off the ground. I held my son's hand (a little too tightly) all through the journey and squeezed it whenever there was a touch of turbulence but actually the flight was not too bumpy at all and I enjoyed it much more than I expected. The pilot was very knowledgable about the sights he was showing us and I felt we had value for money. I even think I am now less afraid of heights and flying than I was previous to the flight.

Our Pilot Morley provided us with an awesome narrative for all the sites of Oahu. The views are breath taking! Manoa falls was one part of the trip that I enjoyed seeing. Morley definitely knew his stuff- his knowledge of all the historical landmarks and local facts was the cherry on top! I would highly recommend Makani Kai Helicopters.

Fantastic!! This was my 2nd ride with this company and won't by my last! Our pilot, Jim was knowledgeable about the island and had a great sense of humor. Seeing the island from above is incredible and you get to view things that are either closed off to the public now or not accessible by foot or vehicle. If you get the chance I highly recommend this company, it's well worth it!

Can't rave about this doors off tour enough!! Jim made it incredibly fun for us, he has an awesome sense of humour. He's very knowledgeable about the island and even made an extra effort to show us a 360° rainbow. Thanks Jim. Jessica and Yuri van Toor

We did the doors off version of this helicopter tour and saw most of the island by air in one hour. What a buzz! Saw Kahala, Hanauma Bay, Sacred Falls (spectacular), the Windward Coast, Turtle Bay, the North Shore, Dole pineapple plantation and Pearl Harbour!! Best money spent on this holiday. Remember to wear a jumper and pants. Gets a bit cold up there!

Took my sisters out and had an amazing time! What a great way to see Oahu from a beautiful perspective!!! Thanks Jim for being an awesome pilot!

Had a great experience... Enjoyed the humourus & witty commentary along with the spectacular sites.... First time in a chopper loved every minute.... Definitely recommend this to cross off your bucket list... Next time will try the open door....thanks again
