We initially booked Hana and Haleakana tour, but it was cancelled due to the low cloud condition. So we switched to Molokai and West Maui tour. We saw the tallest waterfall in Hawaii and the highest sea cliff in the world on this tour. Not to mention that we spotted a whale family on the way back. The pilot was very nice and took a few minutes flying around and we then saw a few more whale families in the ocean. The tour is not cheap, but it is worth every penny! This is a must-do activity in my opinion.
Did this tour as an excursion from a cruise. It is a 40+ minute ride from the ship to the airport, which seemed particularly long. David, our pilot, did a good job showing us sites around Maui. The most impressive part of the flight was the 4000-foot sea cliffs on Molokai. Seeing our ship from the air was pretty cool. David was knowledgeable, but could have offered more info during the flight.
What a wonderful way to view Maui! Everyone from the person who booked the tour, the person who called to confirm the day before, and the staff at the front desk who checked us in were warm, friendly and helpful. And our pilot, Derek, totally rocked it! He was very professional, but entertaining and alot of fun. There were 2 small girls on our tour and Derek was terrific with them! The helicopter was comfortable and the ride was nice and smooth. I would give this tour and company two thumbs up!
Went on the tour of Western Maui and nearby island of Molokai yesterday afternoon. Hugo did a great job of not only piloting the helicopter but was very knowledgeable of the history of both islands. Tour focused more on Molokai which only has 7000 inhabitants vs. 160,000 for Maui. Saw world's tallest waterfall. Blue Hawaiian gives you Bose noise-canceling headphones and you hear the tour guide's commentary along with some nice relaxing background music. Highly recommend!
If you have taken the time to travel all the way to Maui, you **owe** it to yourself to see it from a helicopter. Yes it’s expensive. So is everything else on the island. Two words: worth it. I went with 3 adults and 2 kids and to see they won’t stop talking about it is an understatement. The pilot was very skilled and put the passengers at ease. The staff was extremely organized and professional. Even the music was choreographed to what we were seeing. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.
This was a spectacular tour. It was incredible to see places you can only access from the air (Molokai cliffs, waterfalls in the West Maui mountains...) We booked a day in advance & were able get a 1pm tour. The eco helicopter had huge viewing windows & the Bose headphones canceled out the engine noise while letting you hear the music soundtrack (loved the Indiana Jones & Jurassic Park instrumentals to set the mood...) Pilot was great with commentary & questions. Very professional operation we chose based on the safety record & all the 5 star reviews. Would definitely recommend - it was a highlight of our trip.
I was so disappointed with our helicopter flight over West Maui & Molokai. Where you sit in the helicopter determines what you see and how much of it you see. I was in the back diagonally opposite the pilot. My husband was in the back behind the pilot. The 2 seats between us were empty. The 2 front seats were filled. The people in the front got the best views and photo opportunities. I saw a lot of blue sea and when we flew back along the Molokai coast line with the cliffs we were too close so the photo opportunities were lost. I kept passing our camera to my husband to take photos because most of the photo opportunities were either on the pilot's side or out the front (which I couldn't see properly and there was no way I would get decent photos from the back seat). You cannot pay extra for guaranteed seats so its pot luck, based on computer allocation. Definitely disappointing and not worth the money!! I would not do this again.
I went alone on this tour, and had a blast! Hugo, our pilot was knowledgable, experienced and very friendly! Our tour was very lucky to see some rare parts of Molokai and the crater inside the volcano on northern Maui. I would recommend going on this tour to anybody! I got amazing pictures that are breathtaking and I would not get anywhere else. It was amazing to see some places where I would not see if I was not in this helicopter. The staff were very safety orientated and I did not doubt my safety when Hugo was driving the helicopter!
My husband and I absolutely LOVED our helicopter tour. The views were breathtaking. I can't wait to go back to Maui; we will definitely be taking the full island tour next time. It is worth the money. I was really nervous about it, because I am sometimes afraid of heights. But our pilot was obviously highly skilled, and a few seconds after we left the launch pad I was not nervous at all. Our pilot, Tim, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and was a wealth of information about Maui. It was disappointing that we got rained out twice, but they are really professional about it. The staff will rebook you if you are able to make that work for your schedule. If not, they refund your money. (It's not at all like an airline.) I highly recommend this.
I chose this company based on a review I read in my Hawaii Revealed app and it did not disappoint. Everything was top notch and ran like clockwork. Pilot was very informative and entertaining and the views were incredible. I highly recommend this activity.
We took the West Maui and Molokai tour. The scenery is awesome. The best part by far was the informative and interesting narration by our pilot - Tim. He made the experience well worth the price. If the price scares you off, suck it up. You don't come to Maui to penny pinch, you come for the aloha.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is a very professional outfit with a friendly competent staff. Ground staff gets everyone processed though in an amiable manner and made all feel relaxed. Our pilot, Glinda, was friendly, knowledgable and made sure we all had a good time. One of the things my wife appreciated the most was when Glinda would hover and rotate the helicopter so everyone could see the sites such as the coral reef, waterfalls and chasms. It's a fantastic way to see Maui and Molokai and would surely do it again. Book it Danno!
My wife and I just finished our tour today; it was amazing! The team at the helipad is very friendly and well organized. Our pilot Derek did a great job showing us the island and keeping it fun and relaxing. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the island.
we initially were supposed to take the extended trip of Maui including West Maui and Haleakala. before we boarded, the staff spoke to us and mentioned that there were dangerous weather conditions over Haleakala and that can we switch to West Maui and Molokai. Though disappointed, we switched and the flight was fantastic. Molokai was beautiful, the pilot was great and the trip was fun. No real turbulence, only a few instances in Molokai and West Maui where we dropped a few times, but the pilot warned us. We saw the sea cliffs and highest waterfall in the world. This is the 4th Blue Hawaii helicopter ride we took and I will not use another company.
We booked the Hana/Haleakala tour, but the weather was bad on the Hana side, so we opted for the west Maui/Molokai tour in its place. We had already done the road to Hana, so it wasn't a big deal. All I can saw is WOW!! The tour was excellent with a very smooth flight. Seeing the north side of Molokai was one of the most incredible things I've ever experienced. So many waterfalls and so much to see that is mostly uninhabited. Everything about the flight was incredible, we even got to stop by Haleakala on the way back! Highly recommend Blue Hawaiin Helicopters!!
