Love helicopter tours and the staff was great getting us on board and the tour itself was amazing. Paying for the front seat upgrade is always worth it for us and we highly recommend this tour. Several operators recommended this company as the best. The only thing I would say is that we didn't like the style of our helicopter pilot/tour guide. It was one of those question/answer type thing where he constantly asked us what things were and of course none of us knows the answer or we wouldn't have been on the tour. I find this irritating and would rather be told more information about Hawaii and the things we are seeing. I'm not sure if it was our pilot or if this is a script but if it's a script PLEASE change it. No one likes feeling stupid and we don't care what hotel each person is staying in or even where they are from. Not necessary for a 2 hour tour that should focus on the island of Hawaii and all it's natural wonders.
DEFINITELY DO THIS!!!! And if you can, fly with Pilot Greg (Kauai) --- he's awesome and makes an incredible trip even better! This is a fantastic experience and well worth it.
The beauty of the island is incredible and when seen from the air, it is emotional. The Napali coast was so beautiful that it truly takes your breath away and touches your soul. I had planned this tour early in the week during our stay & recommend this. It was fun seeing places on the ground after seeing them in the air. John was our pilot and he was the right mix of everything - skill, knowledge of the landscape and his sense of humor. SO glad we splurged for this ride. Blue Hawaiian honored my request for the right side of the helicopter - Thank you so much for our trip of a lifetime.
Visiting from Rhode Island and had a BEYOND amazing experience. We did the Road to Hana van tour and finished with the helicopter over Maui. Unbelievable. Gail, our van guide, was hilarious. She knew so much and kept us all entertained and moving through some really neat stops along that winding road. Black sand beaches, lava tubes, a dip in a waterfall pool, hot and fresh banana bread from the Halfway to Hana stand... amazing views and photo opportunities. She also preps an amazing picnic lunch. š Derek, our pilot, was also a lot of fun. Great flight experience, felt incredibly safe and smooth, lots of laughs and even though he didn't make the playlist it was a great time. It was a beautiful, clear day and he made sure we saw everything possible including whales over the bay. Definitely worth the trip!! Will be back in the future!
Look at the weather in advance and choose a Sunny and dry, lighter wind day! You will see less clouds. AND wear your darker clothes to decrease reflection! The most up to date helicopters and VERY professional tour company! Yes, I highly recommend!

Amazing trip with Blue Hawaiian! We had beautiful clear skies over the entire island, so the flight was absolutely incredible. The pilot, John, did a great job telling us about the different sights we were looking at as well as providing some history about the island. He also made turns and tried to ensure a good view for all passengers as we passed the main attractions (e.g., Waimea Canyon, Jurassic Falls, NaPali coast). I was definitely a bit nervous having never ridden in a helicopter before, but the pre-flight safety briefings also made me feel safe in the helicopter. The whole operation itself was very professional (and looked more professional than some of the other operators also leaving out of Lihue). I took an 11AM tour since I was told it was better lighting for photographs midday - definitely worked out well for me, although on other days I was on the island, it was definitely more cloudy later in the day vs. 1st thing in the morning, so I definitely lucked out with the weather. It is a very expensive trip, but worth it. I also splurged for one of the two front seats (another $100), which was well worth it - I had incredible views and was able to take a ton of great pics! I'd imagine the views would be more limited if you were in the back seats, esp. the middle (esp. if you want to take pictures), but I didn't experience them yourself. The company also gets you a bit with the extras - for example, its $40 to get a copy of the pictures of you outside and in the helicopter (they won't take them on your camera) and $65 if you want the video footage of the flight ($85 if you buy both) - both of those seemed a bit outrageously priced given the high cost of the flight itself. But overall, still a once in a lifetime experience that is worth every penny - I can't recommend doing a helicopter tour more.

I would give 10 stars if I could. My family and I had the most amazing experience with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. A huge shout out to Melveen for providing us the best customer service. She went above and beyond to assist our party, not only with our flight but also our luau. Our next shout out is to our pilot, Greg. Our flight was absolutely amazing. Greg shared so many amazing stories about the beautiful island. This entire experience was unforgettable and Iām so thankful we went with Blue Hawaiian!

Our Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour was truly amazing. We were originally booked for the Ring of Fire tour but decided to upgrade our experience by changing our tour to the Big Island Spectacular (with waterfall landing) and boy oh boy am I happy that we did. This tour is worth every penny you will spend. The helicopter itself was very nice. There are 6 (max) passengers to a bird - 4 people sit in the back and 2 people sit in the front. You can purchase the front seats, which my husband and I did, for an additional $200 each. Had we waited, we would have ended up with the seats likely due to being paired with a family of 4, but it still worked out. I felt like the bird was pretty comfortable - space was adequate and plenty of AC. Our Pilot, Toshi, was incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Big Island and he was also very entertaining and engaging. When coming up on a land feature that someone would want to see or photograph, he would swing the bird around so that each side was able to get a great view/picture. Unfortunately on the day that we did the tour, the volcano was not producing any lava, but it was still really neat to get top view of the crater. Waimea was stunning. It was more than I could ask for. Flying over Waimea actually put tears in my eyes due to it's beauty. And the waterfall landing was fantastic. Toshi was so nice to take great pictures of each person in front of the birder and waterfall. I would highly recommend this tour. Spend the extra and do it - you wont be disappointed. Blue Hawaiian Touring Company also gets 5 stars from me - they were so easy to work with - from booking, to changing our reservation, to check-in and all of the communication in between - I would rate their customer service very high. This tour and company did not disappoint me. I would use them again and again.
We had Loren as a pilot, and he was truly awesome. Funny, knowledgeable and very engaging. This is a truly magnificent trip that gives you stunning views of Hawaii only possible in a helicopter. This was a trip for my partner, Katy's 60 th birthday and was a perfect way to celebrate her birthday. Thoroughly recommend.

We had Mike T as our guide. Mike was extremely knowledgeable about the island and tried to learn about each of us. We got very lucky and only had one other couple with us! They were up front and my husband and I were able to each get a window seat! We didnāt get to sit next to each other, but both having a window seat was incredible. I know this doesnāt always happen. (They are a 6 passenger helicopter). So weāre very thankful for our experience. We had an amazing sunny day and got to see so many things! Truly our favorite activity on Maui!! We were in maui for 15 days and did numerous things, this was our #1. We will come back!!
