Big Island - Waikoloa

Such a great experience! My oldest who usually gives us a "meh" to everything got off and says, "that was awesome!" Barrett was our pilot and was great! We bought our photos and video to enjoy again. The pictures and video doesn't do it justice though. The colors and experience are a must see.

Don't cheat yourself - Fly with pilot Greg
Big Island - Waikoloa

What makes for a truly memorable and breathtaking helicopter tour of the Big Island? Just ask our pilot Greg. It was his masterful flying and communication that made this by far the best heli tour ever (and I’ve been on quite a few). As a Professor of Educational Psychology, I know a few things about how to engage learners Pilot Greg deserves an honorary PhD in Education. He was explicit about the rules with clearly-stated explanations about what was required, why, and how to use the various safety equipment. As we flew over the still simmering and smoldering volcano, he explained with pinpoint accuracy the history of the volcanic activity on the island, the series of recent volcanic events, and the current status of Mauna Kea. We saw the earth evolve with lava! Greg punctuated the learning with chatting with the passengers. Myself, my friend from London, and two lovely nurse anesthetists from New Orleans. He fostered a true sense of group esprit de corps and we all found ourselves is perfect harmony. The lively conversations never deterred from the sightseeing. Greg knew where to find whales and dolphins. When he spotted a boat on the northern side of the island, he explained that this was a sure indicator of unusually calm seas. Eventually we landed in front of a very steep and majestic waterfall. As we walked about the small grassy/rocky area, the comradery was even more wonderful. Greg shared a bit about his family and the four passengers spoke about familiar themes that engaged the whole group. We took group shots and Greg shot a selfie of all of us. Was the 2+ hour flight expensive? Absolutely. But it was replete with wonderful memories and new friendships. Make this investment in a lifetime memory.

AMAZING! Wes our pilot was fantastic. This experience was one of the best of my life. The volcano, the valleys and waterfalls, even whales along the coast, all made my vacation! Mahalo!

We did the big island coast tour. Flew over to the west coast and saw whales and most of the coastline. Then headed across to the east coast. Before getting to the east coast, the pilot was very informational and answered our questions. Saw pigs and cattle roaming the land. As we were getting to the east coast, the beauty became ever more real. Huge valleys and a real sense of how this island came to be. I don’t want to ruin any surprises so just know that tears were shed of just how spectacular this ride really is. You MUST do this adventure.

Spectacular views, awesome pilot and ground crew, super safe FAA-certified helicopters
Maui - Kahului

For my partner's birthday, I treated him to a helicopter tour of West Maui and Molokai. Needless to say, it was spectacular. The views of the Molokai seacliffs (highest in the US!), interior valleys, and remote waterfalls are all amazing and something you can't get any other way but from the air. Our pilot Matt was calm and laid back but absolutely precise with the aircraft's controls. Our flight was super smooth. Matt also gave us quite a lot of info about the area and the sights, stopped to hover over some whales in the channel, and even pointed out two flocks of mountain goats way up on a ridge as we flew over. On top of all the awesomeness, Blue Hawaiian has the top safety record and the helicopters they use are quiet, clean, and well -maintained. If you take a look at their website under "Safety," you'll see that they go above and beyond to ensure their operations are the safest they can possibly be. The ground crew is also great -- friendly and professional. You can't go wrong with Blue Hawaiian!

Our family went for the Big Island Spectacular with the waterfall landing. Kaj was our pilot and he was awesome! Entertaining and educational. Learned a lot about the island, volcanoes and local foods! Highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and hope to go on another tour next time we visit.

Incomparable!
Kauai - Lihue

Take the longer tour with the landing at Jurassic falls. Although the falls are impressive, landing in the forest and skimming the treetops on the way out before dropping into Waimea Canyon is more unique. The trip offers the usual views of the Na'pali coastline, but adds an extensive overflight of the rainforest with impressive waterfall views. Worth budgeting and saving your pennies. Maui and Hawaii helicopter rides are not worth it (unless the volcano is erupting).
