This helicopter tour was absolutely amazing. The whales and the sea cliffs were super awesome. Our pilot was Mike and he was very knowledgeable about the area and its history. He brought us through all of the valleys and around the coasts which was beautiful. I highly recommend this heli tour I felt totally safe and think it is great for anyone who is thinking about doing it.
We booked the Hana & Volcano tour, fantastic new US version of the Eurocopter. Amazing views of the coast, waterfalls, celebrity gardens & the volcano crater. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
Our guide, Greg O, GoGo, was great, we saw whales breaching, Madame Pele fire dancing, incredible views of the Kohala coast valleys and waterfalls. Very comfortable, great window views, sound system was truly good. We were on the eco star helicopter more expensive but well worth it. Took our grandson and he was busy with his go pro and grinning the whole time. Definitely the way to see the big island.
Rick (the pilot) showed us a fantastic time. Booked the 90 min Maui Spectacular, but due to weather issues up the top of the big mountain, he took us on a brilliant sightsseing tour of Molokini and a shipwreck instead. Was not disappointed in the slightest. Thanks Rick! Bloody well done.
This helicopter tour, especially across Maui and to Molokai is an unforgettable & surreal experience! It wasn't my first flight- I've also done Kauai (also incredible!!) a couple of years ago. Even still I was speechless and in complete awe and goosebumps the entire time. Our pilot ("Chase") was perfect in all senses; engaging, professional, easy going, competent, informative, and fun. He took us past loads of whales, waterfalls, valleys, vistas, the bluest seas and coastlines. If its possible to fall in love in 45 minutes, this is it! Well worth the money, even if you have to splurge. The staff is fantastic, playful, and kind. And the aircraft was super sleek and comfortable. I can't wait to go back!
We wanted to see the rest of Maui which can only be done by air. Our pilot, Noah gave a one hour tour that was simply fantastic. He was also very knowledgeable regarding how the islands were formed and the different weather microcosms prevalent on the island. We were also able to view the many waterfalls on the island some of them falling directly into the ocean. You're in Hawaii don't leave without seeing all of it. We also saw whales swimming off shore. The best money spent on Maui!!!!!
We had a great tour of West Maui and Molokai. We had to cancel our original date because of bad weather and Blue Hawaiian was very accommodating at arranging another date. It was so windy the day we went but you would never have known. It was a fun experience and I would highly recommend purchasing the video for $25. It is a great reminder of what you saw.
We flew over Kauai the first day there. Breathtaking views of mountains, canyons, waterfalls and beaches for miles. It was nice to explore the island via Sky first because then we knew where we wanted to visit via land. Do it!
My 11 yr. old daughter and I had the amazing opportunity to fly the Maui/Molokai tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter while visiting Maui. I'm slightly regretting this magical experience, as she now wants to be a helicopter pilot! The ground crew was entertaining and professional while we waited and we were lucky to have Chase as our pilot. He was cool as a cucumber and made us all feel at ease during the flight. One lady was slightly queasy and he made sure she was comfortable and ok. Although he stuck with the tour route, when there were pods of whales or other significant features, he made sure we all got a great view and time to enjoy the sights! Many friends have asked me if it's 'worth the cost' and I emphatically reply, "YES". There is nothing like this experience and I'm so grateful to have purchased the video of our personal flight to always relive! Thanks BHH!!!
Before we left for Maui I was looking at reviews of helicopter tours and someone made the point that if you are going all the way to Hawaii, don't miss this experience, despite the cost. I am so glad I took this advice to heart. We loved our tour of West Maui and Molokai. It was a fantastic way to see both islands and a few whales along the way. It was the highlight of our trip - for both the teens and adults. I'm home now, have reviewed my credit card balance and am still advocating that this is a must do experience.
I did the Ecotour ride with Blue Hawaiian in February and it was a great experience. Since this is my first helicopter tour, I couldn't say if it compares well against others, but the flight over West Maui and Molokai was spectacular to say the least! Our captain was obviously experienced and gave us some fascinating commentary during the ride. I could almost imagine that I was part of the Jurassic Park experience soaring close to lush green clad cliffs, soaring waterfalls and in and out of the clouds. We saw whales sporting in the crystal clear waters and the manta rays in the reefs were an unbelievable experience! One piece of advice given to all travelers is to wear dark clothing, this makes photography possible with minimal reflection from the glass and I wish people would heed that. White print on dark background still causes reflections and if you could cover those pale arms and legs not yet tanned, that helps out too! ?
I was nervous about riding in a helicopter so of course I was given the outside passenger seat where all the glass is! It was worth getting over my fear as the views are spectacular. Our guide (Gernot Holl) was informative and engaging and also gave us lots of quiet time with beautiful music to soak in the scenery.
This is just an amazing experience. This tour takes you to places you cannot see from the ground. You see the old and new Hawaii from the air with an experienced Pilot. We saw waterfalls and whales. Isolated farms to abandoned plantations and what you see on Hawaii Five -0. It is not a cheap trip but it is once in a lifetime. If you are self concious about your weight be prepared you are getting weighed. Make a reservation you must have one
We absolutely loved this...my husband, 15 year old daughter and I went on a 45 minute west Maui and Molokini trip. The whole experience was wonderful-we had an amazing seat in the helo and the field of view was breathtaking. We were able to see the waterfalls in the valleys of Molokini and views of Ka'anapali and Lahaina...even some whales. Yes it was pricey...but we will never forget it. Dean was a great tour guide too
My wife and I visited Maui on a business trip in March 2016 and had the opportunity to experience Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. We were scheduled one day and it got postponed due to inclement weather, but they were able to quickly reschedule us for the next day. We were not sure what to expect as we had not previously been on a helicopter and I do sometimes get motion sickness, but we both loved it and would do it again. We were supposed to tour the Hana area but due to clouds and rain, the pilot took us over West Maui and then on to Molokai (another nearby island). While some of the tour was over open water since we had to go to Molokai, once we got there we were not disappointed. We got to see many waterfalls and incredibly blue waters off the coast. We were there during whale watching season, so our pilot even worked in some whale watching from the sky (being careful enough not to get too close to scare them away from the boaters). We were able to get some good pictures. Our only disappointment was the glare from inside the windows of the helicopter from the other passengers and the impact it had on our pictures. Each helicopter seats 6 passengers, so if you are into taking pictures and want know your fellow passengers I would suggest wearing dark colored clothing to cut down on the reflections. My company paid for this so I have no idea how much it costs, but regardless we would go up again if we were paying.
