A good tour guide, our pilot Josh was articulate and informative, but its just your basic helicopter ride. No stopping at points of interest or second looks. A one-time event.

You will be Amazed
Kauai - Lihue

This trip is worth every penny. Our Pilot “Kris” was super friendly and had a tremendous amount of knowledge in local history and Kauai in general. The helicopter is set up so everyone on board is comfortable. The views you will see cannot be captured in words or photos. You have to experience it for yourself. If your in Kauai you cannot leave without experiencing this excursion.

Once in a lifetime experience
Big Island - Waikoloa

If you are visiting Big Island, you must do a helicopter tour to experience the full beauty of this amazing piece of nature. We did the complete island tour with volcano, cliffs, waterfalls, valleys, ocean, desert, etc. Yes, it is very costly, but worth every cent. You won‘t regret to spend this amount of money after the 2 hours tour. Also if you don‘t have a front or window seat you can see everything very well. Our pilot Josh was amazing and gave us a lot of information about the island and made it to a funny and unforgettable trip. It is definitely something you cannot experience somewhere else and a must do on Hawaii‘s Big Island!

Bucket List
Big Island - Waikoloa

Worth the price. My husband was nervous but I really wanted to do this. The Big Island has so much to see and I didn't want to spend the whole trip in the car. The pilot (Matt) was highly skilled and could land on a dime. We lucked out and got to do a waterfall landing too! Not scary at all.

View Hidden Valleys
Big Island - Waikoloa

We have flown Blue Hawaiian to view each of the Big Island and Kauai. While the volcano is not active at this time on the BI you still get to view hidden valleys and the beautiful coast. The views of Kauai are just breathtaking as you can see views you would not otherwise ever get to experience.

Worth Every Cent!!
Big Island - Waikoloa

We flew with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter from the Hilo airport, the girls at the reception made us feel so welcome, after a short safety video we were escorted to our awaiting helicopter, we were introduced to our pilot "Sarah" we did the 55 min tour of the volcano's and coastline, Sarah was very informative and I believe she made the flight, she is a true assist to Blue Hawiian Helicopters and totally recommend flying with them. A bonus is that the helicopters have cameras located inside and outside of the helicopter and for a small cost the gave us an excellent video of our flight.

Epic
Big Island - Hilo

I got a same-day single-seat booking with a pretty decent coupon-book discount by "Local Expert" (have a look for these; the coupon books are everywhere and you can find deals), and drove over from Kona for the tour. The staff were friendly. If you have a light-coloured shirt they'll lend you a black one so you make fewer reflections on the windows for photos. No bags or hats allowed aboard, cameras OK. My coupon came with a keeper shirt and free DVD of Hawaii by air. The safety briefing was a bit confusing because they go through both helicopters' protocols before you know which type you'll be on. They should divide you up first and tell groups "this particular seat harness/safety info applies to YOU." We did have to wait some time on the tarmac, maybe partly for a recalculation of weight and balance when one of the passengers backed out feeling ill. I can see how the middle rear seat would be much less fun, especially if you want photos. And you do get a better view of the land on the way out if you're on the right side. I lucked out with the best seat up front. Our pilot Wesley was funny, friendly and full of information. He answered lots of questions and included everyone in the conversation, remembering people's names to point out what was on their side. He sounded like someone who thinks he has the best job in the world, and maybe he does. He also circled around features so people on both sides got views. The ride was smooth, the views fantastic. We saw the new lava fields from last spring's eruption, Fissure 8 in the distance, craters you can't get to from the road, and looked into the maw of now-sleeping Pu'u O'o. The waterfalls portion was very short -- just one -- although he did take us looking for whales near the harbour and we spotted one briefly. Last time I took a helo tour (Kauai, with Hawaii Helicopters) the video of your tour was free (it was a VHS, so that's how long ago it was!). Nowadays, you gotta pay for them and it was $40 on a USB stick. Plus 35% CAD exchange, ouch, but, how could you not want to replay this epic tour at home? At the terminal, there's a little souvenir shop with shirts, hats, toy planes, etc. A staff person checked over the video and showed clips for those considering buying it. Helicopter tours in Hawaii are crazy expensive... but, look for last-minute or attraction-book deals, as this is a must-do activity and a great adventure -- at least when the weather's fine. I will be looking up Blue Hawaiian on my *next* trip ;)
