Went for a 2 hour helicopter ride with pilot Gary O. What a great experience. I am happy that we planned this early in our trip because we now have a better sense of what to do the rest of the week. Gary was very knowledgeable and really added to the trip. We took the 7:00 am option which I recommend. The highlight was getting to fly through a number of valleys where we got to see many waterfalls up close.
If one is going to do a helicopter flight this is the One to pick, the copters are Quite almost as if one was riding in a car and I felt Safe , we had Kristi as our pilot she gave a detailed description on the highlight as we flew over them but the real plus for me was when we flew the path the the Japanese flew when they bombed Pearl Harbor and came right over the Arizona and gave ample time to take pictures
We had Karl fly us and what a treat it was! He knew so much about the island and gave our family an extremely smooth ride. He flew us along the lava flow to the ocean, over the rain forest and beautiful waterfalls.
good helicopter tour but i guess somehow expected more content from pilot and lower views from flying did whole island tour and hit most of the major spots in the 45 min flight had choice of similar tour on other companies and the concierge was probably right this company ah a more corporate feel vs customer but i would recomend
I'll make this review short and sweet. - Helicopter was safe, clean, and seemed new. - Tour was fun. We chose the tour as the lava flow was currently active, so we got to see the lava reaching the ocean. Maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity - The waterfall portion of the tour was pretty lackluster. - Our pilot was very informative and engaging with the whole cabin. Only downside to the tour was the price.
Took a tour of the island with my wife and two kids. Had a fantastic time. Flew over where several movies were filmed, the coast, canyon, etc. Pilot was Greg, he was very good, added humor and facts to the tour. Helicopter felt very safe and was roomy. Kauai is stunning from above. First class company and experience.
First we watched a safety video then got ready for our flight. Brody was our pilot. He was on the serious side but very informative. We could ask questions once we were on our way. The scenery was beautiful and different depending on what part of the island we were flying over. We got close to the side of mountains and near waterfalls. Brody also knew so much about the island and told of the respect for the Hawaiian gods and people. I felt very safe. There was only one problem it went by too quick!
We loved this helicopter ride. It is truly awe-inspiring. It was one of my favorite travel experiences ever. If you are going to do one helicopter ride in Hawaii this is it. I would recommend doing a helicopter ride in Kauai over any of the other islands. It is even better than the volcano one in Hilo. It is truly spectacular.
We chose Blue Hawaiian because friends of ours raved about them from their vacation several years ago. They were right. We had a great pilot, Marty, who had a lot of flying and rescue experience which made us really comfortable in the helicopter. Very professional team throughout the experience, w/safety training briefly before your flight. Amazing views and great history and explanation of the island and all the landscape, mountains, beaches, craters, etc. You can't understand the island as well as you can once you've flown above it. Relaxing music made the journey extra enjoyable and our pictures from our camera were fantastic. The video they take is very nice to have as well, but still bring your camera for unforgettable photos to keep!
We are so happy we decided to take the helicopter tour of Kauai. It's such an amazing experience and the sights are out of this world!
I have been to the Hawaiian islands probably 20+ times but this tour left me and my daughter, in awe. Shane was our pilot and he was excellent. Check in, safety video, on time and ease of Blue Hawaiian Helicopter was perfect. It was a windy day and I was concerned it would be a bumpy ride, however it was surprisingly smooth. Well worth it!
My husband & I went on the full island tour. Chase was our helicopter pilot. We have been on flights before around other islands & Chase by far was THE BEST pilot we have ever had. He pointed out all the best spots & got close to the stunning waterfall falls so we could get epic pictures. It was the smoothest flight in a helicopter EVER. He plays great music too. I strongly recommend blue hawaiian & ask for Chase to be your pilot!
This tour was great and the views were amazing! We had a fantastic pilot! She was very informative and we had a safe and smooth ride. The down side was that we sat in the back of the helicopter and there was a glare in the window so it was tough to get photos. Also, the little girl next to us threw up so the helicopter smelled like vomit. I would go again but would request a private tour or ask to be seated in the front seats.
This is second times on helicopter tour. I would like to confirm this company are the best but is want extremely exciting will not facing. The capital are nice and friendly. Thank you so much.
We arrived at the advised arrival time for our flight even though we did struggle to find the check in desk. There are no signs visible from road and the map on the leaflet made it look like the desk was alongside the loop in the road. It isn't. Secondly we didn't know where to park. When we booked through our hotel concierge we asked about parking and were told it is free at the helicopter site. It isn't - you have to park in the public car park and pay when you return to your car. This is not the first time we have taken a helicopter flight so we were familiar with the procedure. The check in staff were friendly and then we waited in a room for the other passengers on our flight to arrive. We were told we would see a safety video here before boarding. However, this didn't happen and we had a quick roadside briefing before boarding. Our pilot was friendly and reassuring. Take off smooth and then we were on our way. Unfortunately for us visibility wasn't particularly good - it was cloudy and wet. We even had to re-route on one occasion because of the wind. I found it quite scary though I'm sure we weren't in any danger, I just didn't find it enjoyable. Our pilot circled over the lava flow several times trying to make sure everyone on the flight was able to get photos but to be honest we couldn't see any lava just steam rising up. Back at the heliport staff were happy to take photos of us standing by the helicopter. Overall a disappointing experience for us but obviously weather is something that cannot be controlled. No video of the flight was offered to us..
