Great way to see the sights of Oahu! Our pilot, Julie, was highly skilled and informative. We won't hesitate to recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours to anyone we know to be visiting Hawaii. A+A+A+
We took the Big Island Spectacular tour and loved every minute! We purchased our flights prior to arriving in Hawaii, so receive the online discount. Our flight was smooth and we got fly over some of the most beautiful landscapes. We saw the active volcano, flew through the canyons that made us feel like we were going to Jurassic Park and saw the gorgeous coastline. We'd highly recommend Blue Hawaiian for helicopter tours. You see so many interesting things that you may not see when driving. Note: We visited in December 2013. I'm just late in writing this review!
We visited the island and I had to see the island from the sky, so glad I did. Breathtaking! Our pilot was great, he made sure we all got to see everything from all views.
Never been to Hawaii!!! Never been on a helicopter!!! Why not do both at the same time? I arranged a surprise tour of the Island with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. I said it was a surprise for my wife, was it - not really, I wanted to do it more than ever!!! We were picked up at our hotel and after collecting a few others at various hotels around Waikiki, we arrived at the "heliport." It was quickly evident after looking at a few other helicopters around the area that those of Blue Hawaiian were far superior. After the usual safety briefing, we climbed in and eventually took off to the sounds of the Hawaii 5-0 theme - fantastic! We flew alongside Waikiki and saw our hotel the Hale Koa from a slightly different angle - 1000 feet!!! We flew over Diamond Head and along the wonderful coastline and then inland seeing some absolutely wonderful sights. The whole flight took about 45 minutes ending over Pearl Harbour and seeing the Arizona Memorial and the other sights around it. What a great time we had, I would certainly recommend it to everyone who visits Oahu - if ever we go back, we'll be doing it again, I assure you!!!
Our flight with Blue Hawaiian was spectacular. Other reviewers recommended taking the helicopter ride at the end of your stay in Honolulu so we scheduled it for the last full day on the island and found it to be a wonderful way to see all the places we had visited. Fortunately, my husband and I ended up in the front row of seats so we had a great view and could easily take videos and pictures. I'm not sure if it was as good for the four people in the back seats (but you don't have a choice of where they seat you- it's apparently all done by weight so it's the luck of the draw). The pilot was great and kept us entertained with stories of the places we were seeing and provided background music that suited each location. They provide pick up and delivery from the hotel- but be prepared to be squeezed in a van with 12-14 other people. We scheduled a 10:00 am flight which worked well - no fog or haze.I would recommend this for anyone who wants a good overview of almost the entire island. I'd also suggest taking motion sickness pills prior to boarding if you are uncomfortable with the rolling nature of some of the turns. Blue Hawaiian provides a video of your trip showing the passengers inside the helicopter and the area you covered outside for $40 if you want to buy it.
We were amazed with our helicopter tour of Kauai! Our pilot, Joff, was professional, informative, and courteous. We learned about some of the biology, geology, geography, and history of the island. Highlights were the 100's of waterfalls, Na Pali coastline, Waimea Valley, and beautiful Hanalei Bay! Incredible! Definitely worth the money! Don't think twice! Do it!
My daughter and I had a fantastic tour with Joff. He was a great guide and pilot. She kept her face planted on the glass and couldn't take her eyes off the views. It was an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives. Blue Hawaiian was great. The helicopter was very smooth over the entire ride.
They showed us the entire island! It was safe and exciting. Always ask to sit up front because they take an inside video and if you are in the front, you get great shots of yourself. The crew were very knowledgeable and attentive.
Let me start by saying this is a must do on the island. No better way to see Kauai's natural beauty. I applaud them for canceling the flight we had booked 3 months in advance for cloudy weather( we were told they don't give tours of the clouds, even when all their competitors were still flying). They were very accomodating in rescheduling our flight and got is on the air 3 days later with mich clearer skies. Flight was awesome, pilot was fun, and could answer all of my questions, I really can't say enough about how awesome the flight was. My only gripe, and the reason for 4 stars instead of five, was the advertisement of purchasing a dvd or a bluray video of your actual flight, which as it turns out they do not offer. Instead, for a little over $40 you can by a usb memory stick with the video, and then copy it to a disc yourself. Besides that, it was perfect.
We booked our Island Spectacular tour through our Wyndham/Expedia concierge. This got us a free upgrade to the EcoStar helicopter. Our pilot's name was Shane and he was awesome. This was a 2 hour tour to the volcano lava flows and the waterfalls on the north coast. The views were spectacular. There are few words that can explain the feeling of flying over the crater and lava flows. But I think even better were the waterfalls. Totally mesmerizing. Highly recommend this trip.
Great views from the Eco helicopter. Wonderful pilot, Ian, who knew when to narrate and when to let the silence speak. Very professional and friendly..
we did the big island spectacular tour on the eco star helicopter. They picked us up from our nearby hotel and even provided T shirts to cover our bright clothes that would have made glares in the picture. The ride was amazing. we had never been in a helicopter before. got to see some lava flows which were actually kind of underwhelming, cool to see but it sorta just looks like a forest fire, not flying over a volcano like we had been imagining lol. but the ride into the valleys and the landing at the waterfall were incredible. one of the coolest things I've ever done! our pilot Carl was great. informative and entertaining. There was even a soundtrack synced up to the ride. just wish we had purchased our tape when we had the chance.
When you get to the Big Island you have to take a helicopter ride over the island, especially the volcano which is oozing lava. The view from the air is breathtaking and these guys really know their stuff. Most of the pilots are ex-military and flying is in their blood. This was our most expensive indulgence but the ride was no five minute sampler, it went for almost 45 minutes and was worth every cent. This is a memory I will have when I'm 64 sitting on the porch watching the world go by.
Agree with all the other reviews. This was the highlight of the trip. Blue Hawaiian stood out from the other helicopter companies nearby - it definitely appeared to be the most professional. At all times I felt completely safe and relaxed. Shay was our pilot and had a VERY nice voice :-) The commentary and music were excellent and made it a trip I will never forget. Do recommend making this the last thing you do before you leave Kauai (we did a 3pm ride and arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare for out 630pm flight).
Lorne was a fantastic pilot. Very experienced and knowledgeable. An experience not to be missed and the views were unbelievable. Definitely would recommend this company
