My wife and I took a helicopter ride with these folks about a month ago and it was awesome! My wife was a little anxious about it, but once we got in the air and Scott explained that he had flown Black Hawks in the service, she calmed right down. We thoroughly enjoyed the hour in the air viewing the awe-inspiring beauty of Kauai. There are moments that will take your breath away; the waterfalls alone are spectacular. It's pricey to do this but it's worth every penny. You won't regret it.
We just finished this helicopter tour of Kauai. It was amazing. We got a look at our cruise ship then into the valleys to Waimea Canyon. We saw the areas used for the Jurassic Park movies, Avatar, and many more. We flew along the Na'Pali (sorry don't know the correct spelling) Coast. So many breath taking views. This tour is so worth the time and money. Our pilot and guide (Greg) was great. So personable. We will definitely do this again when we get back to Kauai.
Having not done this before we did not know what to expect. The ground crew were very informative and friendly. The pilot was fabulous (I believe Shay, a former pilot with oil & gas industry) explaining all the points of interest while providing a really smooth ride. I am sure the weather played a big factor though. We were able to go to the top of the mountains as we were provided a window with no clouds. THIS WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you do nothing else in Kauai do not hesitate and miss this. Thank you for helping make our trip outstanding.
We met people at the hotel who insisted we go on this tour and i'm SO glad we spent the $ to go. Fantastic. Beautiful. Awe-inspiring. From the valleys to the unreachable coastlines to inside a volcano, every view was more awesome than the last. Beth, our pilot, was fabulous providing detailed information about the island, a great soundtrack in the background and a safe/comfortable ride. Blue Hawaiian is the way to go.
What a fantastic way to see the island! The scenery is absolutely stunning, the pilot was knowledgeable and friendly, as were the ground staff. Well worth splashing out for this tour!
We had a terrific ride in the sky over Kauai seeing shorelines, waterfalls, mountains, canyons, and inside the great crater in the middle of the island. Many sites can not be seen without days of hiking and some are spectacular in different ways from the air. Our first trip was cancelled due to weather but we had a much better day the next morning and the cancellation showed that they put safety first. Recommend planning ahead just in case this happens to you. Oh, and the pilot was great! Very friendly and funny.
Good: Super comfy copter, very organized, friendly staff. Not so good: It's turbulent, but once you get used to it, it's fine. The Na Pali coast is breathtaking.
If you like waterfalls, you will get to see them all on this flight. The heliport was easy to get to with plenty of parking. Very organized crew and great facility. It's located just to the left of the Lihue airport entrance. The flight lasted 50-55 minutes. Our pilot was Mark and he was very informative. We were able to see the waterfall from Jurassic park and about 20 other waterfalls. They were abundant. We went along the coastline where you can only visit via helicopter or boat. We saw a ton of sea caves from lava tubes. We also saw the beaches that were featured in Pirates of the Caribbean. Very beautiful. We saw goats on the side of the mountains and flew over Ke'-e beach. Seating is done via computer, so you can't pick your seats, but you will be put with your partner. We went on a day that had a little cloud cover with a little bit of sun which seems to have worked out well for photos. The only negative part about this trip was the booking. We saw a deal in a brochure and called to get the deal, but were told that you had to book at least 5 days in advance to get the special price. That was not in the fine details on the brochure.
Our group of 6 was on a cruise on the Pride of America and this was by far the best thing we did. Such an amazing experience! Our pilot was Shay and he was excellent. Everyone in our group agreed that this was our favorite thing to do. You will see things that you would never be able to see from the ground and we felt completely at ease with this pilot. Don't miss this adventure. If I did nothing else on the whole trip, this made it worth it!
From reading other reviews you already know that helicopter tours of Kauai are an incredible awe-inspiring (I'm too old to use the now trite word "awesome" but it fits.) experience. You just see so much of this gorgeous island that you would miss if you chose to forego this splendid tour. You probably also have read how clouds deliver water to the tops of mountains and the water cascades down their slopes forming waterfalls which over time cause erosion with makes canyons. But to see all of these elements in short ride is startling - and gives you an educational excuse for an incredibly fun trip. What I had questions about before taking the tour - (1) Will I get motion sickness? We experienced none - I think it was largely due to the skill of our pilot, Mark who was able to compensate for some pretty stiff winds and gave us an extremely smooth ride. (2) Will I be able to do trip if I'm scared of heights? I find ski lifts and the observation platforms of tall buildings very unsettling and I especially dislike Ferris wheel rides. I was seated by the window - you don't get to choose; they assign seats by weight - and I was only slightly nervous. I would say that if you can go on a plane you can go on this helicopter
Great helicopter tour. Staff was professional and organized. We had a terrific pilot (Beth) who safely and expertly guided us around the island. I can't speak for the other helicopter operators on the island but I was very impressed with Blue Hawaiian and a helicopter is absolutely a bucket list item if you want to appreciate Kauai's topography.
Ethan was our pilot. He explained things very well. He took us so far down to the bubbling lava lake that we could see red lava. We saw where the lava was flowing into the ocean. We saw water falls on the Wailkulu River. This tour was a gift to my sweetie for his birthday. He loved it.
First helicopter ride! Was nervous! We did the 45 minute ride to the waterfalls. It was beautiful and our pilot was so nice and explained everything to us. Beautiful waterfalls and cliffs. I would take some medication ahead of time if you suffer from motion sickness. I was feeling nauseous at the end, but I am whimpy. Glad I did it!!!
From start to finish this was a fabulous trip. Was a special day for my 3 children and I. The pilot was very knowledgable and did a great commentary. Waikiki Beach, Jurassic Park filming location, Gilligans Island, the Northern Beaches and Pearl Harbour were great to see from the air. Would do this trip again.
This is an amazing experience and so worth the money. We added a landing at a waterfall which was incredible! Chase was our pilot and he was fantastic. He had great commentary and was very knowledgeable about the island. I'm not sure if it's possible, but ask for Chase if you can! Don't miss this experience!
