We flew with the amazing Blue Hawaiian Pilot Shay through the most beautiful scenery on the planet! Helicopter is the only way to see most of this amazing Island. Waterfalls, old volcanoes, Napili Coast that and more!! You'd have to plan multiple tours, hikes and events and still never see everything you experience on this one Helicopter Tour. Blue Hawaiian does a good job. The are fairly priced, professional, safe and experienced. They are at the airport located across the street from the rental car locations and easy to get to. If your on the Pride of America you can take the shuttle to the rental car location, rent your car and be right there for your tour. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian for a Helicopter Tour in Kaui and Hilo. It is a bucket list once and a lifetime experience so do it!!
Start to finish, this is a professional, courteous, and exceptional experience. Our Pilot, Brody, did an amazing job of providing spectacular views to passengers on all sides of the helicopter. He also brought a unique aloha spirit as he shared his heritage and love of Kauai. I would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian! (And, as this was our 2nd flight with Blue Hawaiian, we received a $40 discount per person - an added bonus!)
The helo tour with Barett was awesome. I've done helo tours before in Vegas and Orlando and by far away this ride topped them all. For starts the staff at Blue Hawaiian was fantastic making our reservations. Secondly, the staff was understanding when we checked in late for our flight due to some nasty traffic on the wAy. Last but not least was the demeanor of our captain, Barrett. It's nice to see a local at the helm of the helicopter as he was so chilled out And of course he's a pro at laying out what is on the tour. The facilities at the heliport are first class. This is important as check-in is 45 minutes before the tour starts. Relaxing in the lobby of their heliport offices was a pleasure and there's always plenty to see as helicopters are coming and going. The tour itself was pure majesty for 55 minutes. The Eco star chopper is a first class ride and the little but important features such as Bose noise cancelling headphones do count towards making the journey a comfortable one. While such exploits aren't cheap, the indelible memories of hovering past casacading waterfalls and the Na Pali coast will stick with me for the ages. I'm confident this tour will be enjoyed by all.
The Blue Hawaiian tour at Kauai is by far one of the coolest things that I've ever done on vacation. It's not cheap, but it's well worth it. My wife and I got married in May, and as with most couples we were rich in love and poor in... well everything else. I graduated college one week and got married the next. I think we split every meal on that trip. While we were in Kauai, we saw an advertisement for the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour, but I doubt they would have let us split the seat so we had wrote it off the list. We were talking with someone from the resort, and they mentioned the tour. We told them we didn't have the money, but they said there was a timeshare offering a coupon for the tour if you listened to their pitch. I'm not sure whether you have ever listened to a timeshare pitch, but I like to compare it to going to a family reunion. You don't really want to be there, but you have to. You try to act interested (because you always have it in the back of your mind that they might not give you the coupon if you don't and then you'll leave empty handed) , but the whole time you can only think about when you get to leave. Well, long story short. I sold part of my vacation soul to get that coupon, and it was more than worth it. The tour left out that morning and me and my wife got to sit up front with the pilot. The tour circles around the Napali coast which is breathtaking and takes you up close and personal with some of the islands many waterfalls. Our pilot was great and the ride was super smooth. The helicopters they use are absolutely first class. I would definitely take this tour again given the opportunity, and I'd love to try out their tours on some of the other islands.
An outstanding experience which is definitely worth the price .... a must do on Kauai. All aspects of the flight were well organised and safety was a priority.
Wear our first Helo ride w/ Blue Hawaii and it was more than we expected. Staff are very outgoing and welcoming and ensure you are feeling good about your upcoming ride. Tennessee Brian was our pilot which made it an additional treat because he not only showed us sites we could have never seen by ground, but he also shared relevant facts and stories that he had found fascinating since moving to Kauai himself. Helo was large and comfortable. Brian checked in frequently to ensure all were okay and having fun. His down to earth personality made the ride a truly memorable experience that we would definitely recommend to all. Will try to upload pictures when I can get them off my camera, btw bring yours and definite wear dark clothes to avoid reflecting light in the cab. Have fun!
This was by far my favorite part of our vacation in Kauai. You get to see the entire island on the best guided tour available. The views can not possibly be beat and the pilot was absolutely amazing providing fun facts about the island while navigating through the canyons and the NaPali coast line. Definitely a must do if going to Kauai!
Beautiful flight into the canyons of Kauai. It just took your breath away at how close you come into the mountains and canyons. The pilot was extremely knowledgeable of the areas and gave a great talk of the places we went. Best flight ever in a helicopter.
Booked a helicopter flight with Blue Hawaiian to celebrate my mother-in-law's 93 birthday. We flew out of Hilo to see the volcanic eruption currently underway. My mother-in-law is healthy, but is a bit unsteady on her feet and uses a cane. Nonetheless the ground crew was very attentive, providing a ride from the terminal right up to the aircraft and helping her easily get into the aircraft and secured for the flight. The EcoStar helicopter is smooth and comfortable, and has great visibility from all seats. Pilot Scott did an excellent job to make the ride very comfortable and gave each passenger clear views by flying alternating patterns. His narration is interesting. Passengers are able to ask questions via the aircraft intercom system. The Bose noise-canceling headset does an excellent job of cutting out most of the aircraft noise. In addition to the volcanic crater and lava falling into the ocean, we were able to see waterfalls well upstream on the Wailuku River. All in all, it was a great experience from start to finish.
This was our last "event" before leaving Kauai to head to Honolulu for our flight home. I did a lot of research - Blue Hawaii was worth the money. Pilot Greg was very professional and informative for the entire flight. Learned so much about Kauai, also some of most beautiful natural scenery I have seen in my life. Yes, this was a "once in a lifetime" thing.
There are several helicopter companies and some may be cheaper but you will get a much nicer ride in the EcoStar. Just from looking at the helicopters taking off, Blue Hawaiian's helicopters' are superior. Everyone was very professional and I felt very safe, it was my first helicopter ride! Between Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast you will feel like you entered another world and you are on a different uninhabited planet. Definitely a must do if you are in Kauai. Greg was our pilot, he was really wonderful. He is an excellent pilot and was great in pointing out lots of points of interest. We did some his restaurant recommendations and they were all fantastic! A great experience!
First time on the big island and here for only a week so we wanted to see everything we could about this geological novelty. Considered taking a boat to see lava entering the water but surf and the trades were blowing so wasn't sure it was such a good idea. Decided to splurge on a helicopter tour at 7 am. Perfect decision.....great pilot, Greg was patient and answered all questions. Took us over the army testing range, rotated the copter so both sides could see the same view on the volcano and followed the lava tube to the ocean. Spectacular to see red lava as it enters the ocean. Followed the coast up to the multiple waterfalls and entered valleys that looked like Jurassic park. This tour showed us just about all the climate zones on the island. We had already driven parts but did not see what the copter showed us. All was recorded on video which we purchased after the trip. First helicopter ride and well worth the splurge.
Just got back from Hawaii. We took 2 tours. The Circle of Fire and the "Jurassic Park" tour. Both had a lot of highlights. Great views of the mountains, waterfalls and lava flows.
It was our first visit to Hawaii and opportunistically, while booking a rental at Koloa Landing, we were encouraged to consider a flight of the island. The rationale was that we would get our bearings to better explore at ground level. We were also told that this particular booking desk was able to secure better seats for its customers - front row seats in the chopper, or at worst, the two back window seats. This didn't happen, and we should have known better as chopper seating is based on weight, unless you are honeymooners; they always seem to secure front seats. Nonetheless, the experience with Blue Hawaii was nothing but professional from front desk reception to the rote safety drill that must be performed many times each day. While in the air we had a really pleasant flight with pilot Shay whose laconically relaxed style made flying a pleasure. Ground views were also interesting as we traversed the many geological faces of the island from lush green to red dust. Two highlights included a flight along the Waimea Canyon to the Jurassic Falls, and a sprint around the inside rim of what we were told was an extinct volcanic crater; imagine....a helicopter pilot got married on the floor of the crater not so long ago. Over the three previous days while waiting for our flight, we had driven the island extensively and I am pleased to report that the view from the ground was just as good. However, if you are a chopper novice, this is a great place to start.
We took a helicopter ride over Kauai on Tuesday Sept 20. Geoff was our pilot and he was so knowledgable and friendly! He actually grew up in Kauai which made the trip even more interesting. (It was comforting knowing he's former military and flew helicopters for years too). While expensive, I'm SO glad that we did this tour! You get to see parts of Kauai that you wouldn't otherwise see. It's totally worth every penny. Don't let the weigh in hold you back- they have you stand on a floor mat and no one can see how much you weigh. You barely even notice they're weighing you. I bought the video after and I'm so glad I did.
