Our pilot Glenda was funny full of information and all around just great. We are a family of 6 so we got the whole helicopter to ourselves. We took the trip in Hilo and it was awesome. We had both seniors and a 5 yr old with us and it was great time had for all of us. The views were amazing the staff were amazing. My only complaint would be that the headsets did not go small enough for kids for them to stay on properly.
If you travel to Big Island Hawaii, and you want to see the magnificent beauty of nature, save your money on other activities and go for the 2 hours tour, you'll fly over volcanoes, mountain, forest, valley clouds!!! it's incredible... fly close to 1000ft waterfall!!! the pilot and all the staff from the company are so nice, so professional you won't believe how perfect your ride will be... my 9 years old boy saw the 5 stars rating on the wall before the tour, at the end, he told the pilot, it's not 5 stars, but 6!!! this is how amazing was the experience with Blue Hawaiian... after you can buy the DVD tour for 25$.
The flight starts off rather slow as you traverse the barren, lava rock strewn dry side of the volcano. You then head to the active volcano craters. We were able to see bubbling lava in a crater and a rather sizeable lava flow. In other areas we saw where lava had set the edge of the forest on fire. The flight then headed for the tropical side of the island which had spectacular views of Hawaiian coast, deep ravines, beautiful valleys and incredible waterfalls cascading thousands of feet. Marco was our pilot and was very informative and responsive to our questions. He took great pains to circle the sights so both sides of the helicopter occupants could see. Thumbs up to Marco and Blue Hawaiian.
Yoshi our pilot was the best pilot ever. Very knowledgable and friendly. He made my wife and I feel like he was our personal pilot!! We are bringing the kids back for the Big Island Spectacular !!! Keep up the great work!!!
Our trip around the island of Oahu was spectacular. Julie was a great pilot. We went around and saw many venues that are not normally accessible by car. The flight over Pearl Harbour was the most exciting part. It is well worth the cost to get a real appreciation of the whole island. The only thing I would caution against buying is the DVD that they try to sell to you at the end of the trip. Although the cost is not prohibitive ( $25), the editing and sound was poor and the video footage is definitely not HD quality. You get to see images of yourself in the cockpit, but the overall quality of the video is lacking which is a real shame. I was quite disappointed. I will be contacting the company to register my displeasure with the DVD. Not sure what can be done about it now that we are back in Canada and not likely to go back there any time soon.
A must do if you are visiting the big island. Spectacular views of valleys and waterfalls that would be inaccessible by road. Our pilot Toshi gave a great commentary throughout the whole flight. Very professional operation with top class equipment.
The views were exhilarating. Lots of window area, smooth ride, and sites you'll never see from the ground. Our 8 year old boy did great in the chopper, it was smooth and quiet. Our pilot was superb and was a fountain of knowledge. Lucky for us we had a clear day in Hilo and could get in to the valleys. And of course, we got great shots of the volcano. It's a chunk of change, but after the flight there was no question it was worth it. Tip: wear dark shirt AND pants. My wife's legs were reflecting off the glass, making a good photo sometimes hard to get.
truly an activity not to be missed while on the Big Island and even if it is costly one, save for it and then shell out the money for the Spectacular tour including the waterfall landing. Flight over the volcano was cool (hot might be a better word given the lava flows we saw), waterfall landing was spectacular, pilot was friendly and showing a lot of experience.
What an incredible tour! Our pilot, Adam, was fantastic, fun, full of information and a great helicopter pilot. WELL WORTH THE MONEY! You'll see views impossible to see from the ground and truly have an unforgettable time!
Wow what an experience. We did 45 minute flight over Oahu and the views were spectacular. Our pilot Adam was very professional and informative. This trip was well worth the money. Thanks Blue Hawaiian.
Did a 1 hour helicopter tour of Oahu. Trip of a lifetime. Had a great pilot who certainly knew her stuff and made it very entertaining, can't remember her name but I do remember her saying she used to fly over the Grand Canyon too. Saw many interesting sights and being able to chat to the pilot too was a bonus -would do again.
This was a great tour. Brian took the safety briefing and he was very funny and good value. We can't remember our pilots name but he was friendly too. What I liked was he ensured all of us got a good view of everything.. as an example, I was on the far left window at the back of the helicopter.. there was some beautiful scenery on the right hand side which I couldn't see well or get photos of, however without me even having to say anything, he turned around to ensure I got a good view and photos as well. He did the same for my side, so the people on the right could see too. Scenery is beautiful, took us right around the island. Worth doing. I got quite hot in the helicopter and felt a little sick and was looking forward to landing, as beautiful as it was being up in the air. They suggest wearing they black/dark colours otherwise they reflect on the windows which makes taking photos difficult.
Our first organised trip on Kauai was with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. We flew along the extraordinary Na Pali Coastline, over the beautiful Kalalua Valley, the famous and gorgeous Hanalei Bay, the spectacular Waimea Canyon referred to the 'The Grand Canyon of the Pacific', and the oh-so-green Mount Wai’ale’ale which is one of the wettest places on earth and over Wailua Falls. The pilot Barrett was Kauai born and bred and was very proud of his island so we received a very informative interesting and passionate narration throughout the flight. He ensured we all had a good view of everything for photos whether on the left or the right side. I love taking photos and was thrilled with mine from this flight over this beautiful island. What a wonderful trip! Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Kauai was our first helicopter flight in the islands but after such a wonderful flight we went again with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on Ohau! Next visit we will definitely go with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on Maui and The Big Island.
Recently visited Oahu & decided it was time (after many visits there) to try something daring. The helicopter tour was on my bucket list of things to do and Blue Hawaiian did not disappoint me. It was one of the most exciting things I've ever done. I'm afraid of heights but the pilot Adam was so assuring and full of information about the island, that I soon forgot all about the fright. I would repeat this tour in a heartbeat!! It's the only way to capture the magnificence and beauty of the island. Adam was so professional knowledgeable. Thanks for the memories!!
This was the single best thing we did during our ten day visit to the Big Island and Maui. from the minute we arrived until we left, the professional staff made us comfortable and excited for the experience. Our pilot Scott was at the top of his game and made everybody on the chopper feel part of the experience. The only caveat here is that there are indeed two seats on the seven seat copter that are not as good as the others, and I agree with others that the price for the middle seats in the back should be different. But with that said, this is a beautiful tour of the island and yoiu will leave in awe of the natural beauty. It is pricey but a must-do if you want to splurge.
