It was great! Mark was an awesome pilot and very informative. I would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian, not only for its comfortable pre-boarding area, but also for its professional staff, high degree of safety, and reliable aircraft. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience seeing Kauai!
We took a helicopter tour with our pilot, Brody, and it was just wonderful! The views were just amazing, and Brody was very knowledgeable and able to answer every question. We were lucky enough that the weather cooperated so that our flight was able to fly in to the crater which is an experience like no other. If you only do one tour in Kauai this is the one I would recommend as you can see parts of the island that are only accessible by air! Thanks Brody, it was simply superb!!
This was one of the absolute highlights of my trip...and it was overcast and dreary the day I went. I would tell everyone who goes to kauai to do this! Unforgettable, amazing experience! I originally had my heart set on a doors off helicopter experience (blue Hawaiian doesn't offer this), but the company I planned on going with was booked. So I referred to my "little blue book" (if you have done any Hawaii research you will find that this book is highly recommended) and looked for one of the top rated closed door helicopter companies and ended up w Blue Hawaiian. When people ask me which one I'd choose (granted I never did a doors off experience) I am likely to say Blue Hawaiian, and here's why. I absolutely love taking pictures and sharing what I've seen on my vacations with others. I realized during my helicopter ride that taking pictures -A- didn't do it justice because of the glare sometimes and B- I was missing part of the experience by looking through a lens instead of watching the amazing views around me. You literally have just moments to capture pictures of some of the waterfalls. Blue Hawaiian has cameras recording from the moment you take off, and you have YOUR entire helicopter ride on video (should you choose to buy it). And then you can watch it over again and show others just what you saw. My family will likely never go to kauai- this is my way to share my great adventures w them. Having the video, in my mind, may be more worth the 45 min doors off experience. BEST $ I spent!
I think where you are sitting makes so much difference on this tour and they should charge accordingly rather than deciding what seat you should sit in and making you pay the same I said I did not want to be in the middle so they let my husband change places with me but still, the whole trip along the Na Pali Coast was on the right and I was sitting on the left so was always looking across three people. I expected our pilot, Bradley, to turn around so that the other side could see better as he had done previously, but I only got a brief direct glimpse. I also felt that the information shared was minimal unless you actually asked a direct question which was disappointing for the amount of money you pay.
We booked a trip for our family of five and took off with our pilot, Scott. But before liftoff we were weighed and safety briefed which was all very efficient and quick. We then donned our emergency pfd and went outside to wait for our bird to land and get refueled. Taking precautionary motion sickness meds, we boarded and buckled in for the ride. Amazingly, we covered most of the Kauai island and our pilot was extremely skilled in making this a smoth ride for us. No bumps, no turbulence and no need for the "comfort bag" in the seat pocket! The headsets music and chats made for an unusually quiet and relaxing ride too. The music was calming and very unexpected. As my wife was particularly interested in seeing whales, Scott made the experience ours by abliging her interest, yet still felt we covered the routes he wanted us to see. After we landed, discovered that the music was the soundtrack to our video record of the trip. Although they have the bird equipped with several cameras, we elected not to purchase the DVD. No pressure. My only negative experience was the cost, as because my son is on the large side, and presumably because we didn't have any other people go with us, they charged some kind of fattie premium to our tour, which ended up costing nearly $1200 for the hour. Aside though from the trip itself the experience of hiking the following day was often interrupted by the frequent buzzing of other helicopters, a common sight in the sky's over the northern coast. Definately an example of the rich few imposing noise on the minions below.
Well organised, great knowledgeable pilot (brad), safety briefing, seating allocated based on height and weight, amazing viewing (we were lucky enough to see a pod of whales). Will definitely do one of their flights when we visit the other islands
We booked the helicopter tour of Kauai as an excursion through our cruise on Norwegian. The company shuttle bus was parked on the pier to pick us up and we waited less than 5 minutes to board. The airport/terminal is about a 10 minute drive from the pier. We checked in and were weighed and had to wait a bit for our safety briefing. The staff were very thorough and explained everything very well. This was my first helicopter tour and I felt very comfortable boarding after receiving all the instructions. Our pilot was Trevor and he did a great job on our tour and in giving us descriptions of what we were seeing. He seemed to be able to strike a good balance between conversation and quiet time to let his passengers absorb the amazing views. This was about a 50 minute tour. If you are susceptible to motion sickness you may want to take something before the tour. I was feeling it a bit toward the end. The weather was a bit overcast at takeoff, but we had clear views of the island as we traveled around it. The incredible views of the island are well worth the cost of the tour. I would recommend it with no hesitation.
Excellent. Whole day from Honolulu - domestic return flights, helicopter and bus tours. Not cheap but worth it.
We did the Big Island Spectacular and it was amazing! The whole family loved our pilot, Ian! He was knowledgable, made us feel very safe and answered every single question our girls had! Thanks Ian!
This was the 4th. Island tour for us. We have seen Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai by air and we decided since this was our 48 anniversary we needed to do it. It was great and we would do it again. The only way to see the island.
Very comfortable helicopter and our pilot Shay was fun and knowledgeable. There were a couple kids on our flight and I thought it was great that he paid extra attention to them and called everyone by our names. Highly recommend!
I love Helicopters and thought there would be no better way of seeing the Garden Island than going up in one. We booked with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters prior to our holiday, and our travel agent gave us the wrong address. After a bit of a trek to find the place (which wasn't really obvious to me) we checked in and sat through a safety briefing. It wasn't long before we were boarding the helicopter. The entire trip is recorded for posterity, so anything you say needs to be thought about! Unfortunately, our party had the usual precocious kid who decided to add inane comments, but what can you do. The flight itself was amazing. The view were simply breath-taking with waterfalls, coastline, mountains and cliffs all before us. Special thanks have to go to Marty our pilot, who was brilliant. He made the trip what it was; excellent pilot, and fantastic local knowledge - plus a good sense of humour. All in all, this rates as one of the highlights of our whole journey and we will fly with them again should we go back.
This is the third company we have used for a 60 minute helicopter tour of Kauai. It is by the best. Our pilot Brad told us many stories as we toured the island and we had microphones to ask questions. We were lucky to be flying after the rain of the night before. This rain created so many spectacular waterfalls. It was ethereal - quite a spiritual experience to think of what nature can gives to us. Brad brought us near many waterfalls and other sights, including going into the Kalalau Valley as weather would allow. My husband liked it so much he went again the next week and took more photos for us to remember the beauty of this place. If you are a Costco member you can purchase discount cards to get a 20% discount off the $240 cost. For another $40 we purchased a Blueray DVD of our ride. This way we can relive our experience over and over.
we much enjoyed our Heli ride. We did the one with the stopat the waterfall. Yes it is not cheap, but worth every penny. Very clean and modern heli. Very friendly pilot.
What an incredible experience... from the breath taking views... to the courteous staff... to our incredible pilot Geoff! !4 years later this island is still as amazing as before! Truly a magical place... with sights that can only be experienced in a helicopter!!
