The helicopter ride was good and the pilot great. Our price of $430 for two was pricey but we heard they were good. We were supposed to get t-shirts and a video of the islands included. When we checked in they asked our T-shirt size but unfortunately they only give ONE T-shirt per couple! Guess we are supposed to share that! They should not give any out or provide one per customer at that price. It was basically rude. Try another outfitter who might really appreciate your business. Or you could pay separately and probably both get t-shirts for the same price!
Everything worked as planned. Blue Hawaii picked us up from the cruise ship right on time. The helicopter port was clean and comfortable. Plenty of time to check your belongings and use the rest rooms. The safety briefing was both amusing and informative. Boarding the aircraft was safe and efficient. The pilot, Shae, was skilled and a great guide. And then the flight. I have never seen anything as beautiful in my life and may never again see it's like. I'm writing this two days after the trip and I am still stuned. Do this trip! We choose Blue Hawaii because of the jelicopters they fly. As promised they were quiet and comfortable.
My kids and I gave a helicopter tour to my husband for his birthday gift. He loved every single second of the trip/tour. The pilot was so good about telling about the aircraft, the views, the history and she had everyone on board involved. Well worth the money. This is a gift he will never forget, and he doesn't have to dust it or wash it. LoL!
This is our third trip to the Big Island, and our first helicopter tour there. The concierge at our hotel recommended the two hour "spectacular"--we figured if we're already in the air, might as well get the best tour! There aren't enough words to say what a great experience this was. Our pilot, Toshi, was knowledgeable and engaging. The tour was beautiful--so difficult to imagine that you can see so many different settings on one island--from the dry side of Kona over to the greener Hilo, over to the volcanoes where you can see lava bubbling, to the waterfalls of Waimea. Absolutely amazing and worth every penny!
We did the Big Island Spectacular tour. About 2 hours in the air. Marco was our pilot for the Eco-star flight and he was knowledgeable and had us interacting. Great seating and good views. Marco pointed out the sights: volcanoes, ranches, beaches, shorelines, valleys, roads, waterfalls, etc. We were lucky enough to see volcanic activity, dolphins, a whale, and the crashed plane. There was some fog or vog (volcanic fog) but it was pretty clear so great flight. It is expensive but definitely worth it. You won't get a better view of the island or volcanoes. Driving through the volcano park isn't the same from everything we were told by others. The flight was videoed inside and out so you could purchase the trip if you wanted to. It was really cool.
Well organised trip with efficient hotel pick up and modern helicopter used giving great views of the beautiful Hawaiian scenery accompanied by excellent commentary by the pilot. Well worth the money.
We decided we wanted to see the island from the air so we could see into the volcanoes and visit some of the more remote areas. We enjoyed it very much. The pilot was well informed and took the time to fly over the important areas in both directions so everyone got a good look at lava and waterfalls. It was a little pricey, which would be my only criticism, but the road around the island is long and slow and full of traffic, and this was a perfect way to see all the ecosystems. I'm so glad we did this. You just can't see everything any other way.
Although I think Blue Hawaiian is one of the top notch tour companies, I can't say the tour over the volcano was exciting. I found it interesting, but wish there was a little more activity
We have taken helicopter tours in various places throughout the US. While we were on Hawaii we did a tour in Oahu and Maui both on blue Hawaiin. We had an amazing time on both trips. This place is a class act and wish they had locations all over the world!
If you are coming to Hawaii and only have the time or the budget to do one activity I strongly recommend that you take a helicopter tour with this company!! We took our first helicopter tour on Oahu today and it exceeded our hopes and expectations. They truly care about the satisfaction of their customers and the employees are very friendly, professional and welcoming! Thank you to our pilot Julie, she took the time to wish our son a happy birthday during the tour and was very informative and friendly. Their helicopters are very comfortable to ride in with great views and air-conditioning. Julie made us feel safe and comfortable during our flight and we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful tour. Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours! We'll be back.
We had an awesome flight on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters out of Oahu on Friday, October 24, 2014! We had previously flown with Blue out of Kauai last September, which was just as wonderful! Both the Ground Crew, and our fantastic Pilot, Julie, helped make for another outstanding experience on Blue Hawaiian! This is a first-class outfit in every way, and we would not fly on any other helicopter when in Hawaii! Worth every cent! PS Don't forget to ask for Julie - she is great!
This was a very tremendous experience and I had a wonderful time. Seeing the island of Oahu from the air was great. I would recommend this for anyone visiting the island.
The views are just incredible. There's only ONE WAY to see the island, and that's by helicopter. Our pilot Geoff was a wonderful tour guide. He made sure to point out all the areas of interest and answered any and all questions we had. We'd looked at several companies and were impressed by the size of Blue Hawaiian's helicopters and their pilots backgrounds. Most flew combat and have continued with it since returning. If they can fly in a hostile environment and land every time, that's good enough for me.
It is a great way to see the pretty Kauai. We had a great safe 50 min trip with Brody. We see the beautiful Napali coast and many many water falls (including the one featured in Jurassic Park movie). You won't be disappointed. Oh a big thank to previous reviewers about Costco gift cards. If you want to save money, book online 5 days in advance (to knock off $15-$20 pp which we didn't do since we want to go on the day with nice weather, can't predict that far in advance during rainy season) and stop by Costco (in lihue) to pick up couple Blue Hawaiian gift cards ($100 value for $80).
After touring by car we decided we needed to go on a helicopter tour. I had never been on a helicopter before this trip. It was a smooth and awesome experience!
