Please don't miss this one if you are in Kauai. Well, it is the most breathtaking experience we ever had. The pilot, Scotty took us to some unknown peaks and valleys. There are unlimited waterfalls and lush greenery. Oh man, we really saw the paradise on earth

Rowena  has so much aloha! What an informative and kind person.  The company is lucky to have her as an employee.

Had my first helicopter ride and let me say it was awesome!!! We had a party of 4 that went up in a ecostar that we each got a wonderful view from our seat while up. (the helicopter seats 6, 2 center back seats were empty) Julie, our pilot was wonderful, explaining everything she was doing and what we were seeing when it was on a specific side of a particular rider. Julie made sure that each side got a view of things by turning the helicopter so the other side would also experience the views!! We saw things that we encountered on land that were far more beautiful in the air. And the view of sacred falls was breathtaking!!! Highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters if you are looking for a tour of Oahu!!! Helicopter does have doors, headsets for noise and communication and a microphone. Felt very safe!!

After researching various helicopter companies online, I decided to book my Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour via telephone.  I had a few questions about the location and parking lot since I live on the island and would be driving my own vehicle, but the woman who answered the phone couldn't quite give me exact directions since she worked for the company but lived on a different island.  However, she was really helpful in that I asked her if it was possible if we could have the front row seats and that is what we got the day of our flight.   Having the front row seats made all of the difference!  There was nothing that obstructed our view, which was excellent.  The pilot drove over some well-known landmarks (Dole plantation, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Kualoa Ranch, the house from the movie 50 First Dates, etc.).  However, as someone that grew up on the island, my favorite part of the flight was seeing all the waterfalls that you don't typically have access to.   At the end of the flight, I decided to purchase the video of the flight to remember the experience.  However, after going home and trying to watch the video, I discovered that they had given me someone else's video, which was disappointing.  The next day, I went back to tell them that they gave me the wrong video.  Although they were able to find footage of my video, they discovered that it didn't have any sound and unfortunately they couldn't correct it.  On the bright side, they did refund some of my money and gave me a complimentary DVD that they sold in their store, which was a nice gesture. Although it was a bit inconvenient to come back to the office due to the video issue (which explains my rating), I did have a good experience with the flight itself and would probably use this company again to check out the sights on the other islands.

I took my dad for his birthday. The helicopter is really nice, and was was our pilot. Its a gorgeous view. Unfortunately since I was sitting behind the pilot, once we got up to the north shore, most of what there was to see was on the right side, so that was unfortunate. We flew right up to the water fall, so beautiful. I purchased a recording of our trip but unfortunately you can only buy it on Blue Ray or they put it on an SD card. Its windy on the north shore and I started to get motion sickness, 30 minutes into the ride. Oahu is gorgeous. My friends have recommended that next time I go up in a helicopter where the doors are open.

It's tough for me to review Blue Hawaiain fairly because I had two totally different experiences. Had I written this based on my first trip there would be a lot less stars involved. Let me explain. I was really looking forward to my first time on a helicopter so I booked the Kauai tour as I heard it was the most scenic. We had requested the front as we were on our Honeymoon. When we arrived, the place was very well organized & clean. The staff was friendly, professional, & ran the operation fluidly. We did the safety briefing which consists of a video, then we were given our bright yellow safety pouches(not the most ideal color considering you are told not to wear bright colors due to reflections on the helicopter glass) but hey, safety first I guess. Side note, these reflect a LOT on the glass. My smile quickly faded & turned into a WTF as I boarded and we were given seat #4 & #5 on the Eco Star. For those that haven't ridden on the Eco-Star, there are a few seats in front next to the pilot. These are the seats that are worth paying full price for. The other seats(a row of 4 behind the pilot) pretty much have a LOT of obstructed views. The window seats aren't so bad however the back middle two seats are horribly obstructed... this is the seat I got. Right from takeoff I knew this was going to suck. I was so mad I could barely enjoy any of the flight. The pilot was cool, the actual tour itself goes to some beautiful places but the only way to get your money's worth in my opinion is to sit up front. I spent most of the flight trying to lean out towards the windows to attempt to see anything. We ended up buying the video so I could at least see all the stuff I was supposed to. When we returned, I voiced my frustration with the staff in as polite a manner as I could being that I just spent $300+ for what I felt was worth much less. I was leaving the island soon so the best the staff could offer was a small discount to try them again on another island. Not wanting to have that be my first & last experience on a helicopter, I agreed & requested front seats again. The staff member (who was very understanding & helpful) did what she could to try & get us up front but could not 100% guarantee it. When we arrived at Blue Hawaiian in Honolulu, I was trying my best to go into the second trip with a fresh attitude. My smile was ear to ear when I heard we would be sitting up front this time! Although, as expected, Honolulu is more historical than scenic(compared to Kauai) it was still going to be a great flight. Our pilot was very nice, & even with a little rain, we were still in for a nice flight. We got to fly over Diamond Head, Hanamana Bay, we got to see where they filmed Giligans Island, 50 First Dates, & Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The most eerie part was flying the same flight path the Japanese Zeros took on Dec 7th, 1941 as they attacked Pearl Harbor. Having done both flights, if I had to rate sitting up front in the Ecostar to sitting in the back middle seat, it would be a 10 up front & MAYBE a 3 or 4 in the back. I can only imagine how amazing it would have been to sit up front during the Kauai tour after having watched our video. In summary, I'd only fly the tours again if I sat up front, but that's just me. Riding in the back might not bother some people.

Wow. Spectacular views from the top. I have lived here all my life and was surprised at some of the scenery that I had never seen before! Beautiful! We saw waterfalls, Diamond Head, North Shore, Dole Plantation, the beautiful ocean, a pod of whales (this was back during the spring time btw- I took a while to complete this review), as well as the Arizona Memorial from above! SO neat.  I do suggest that if you get any kind of motion sickness to definitely take something like Bonine or Non-Drowsy Dramamine. There is a lot more turbulence and rocking due to wind, and even when the pilot turning the helicopter around made me feel a little queasy, (to be fair, I get a little air sick and motion sick in a car, so I am pretty prone to motion sickness). Overall, we had a great pilot (he previously flew Black Hawk helicopters for 23 years- we felt pretty safe) and saw so much more than what we see everyday while driving around. It was AMAZING! I would HIGHLY recommend at least doing a helicopter ride at least once!

We used Blue Hawaiian in Kauai last month. The pilot was awesome! So personable and knowledgeable about the island. He did a great job even on some of the windy areas in the valley. A really wonderful experience! The only reason I didn't get 5 stars is because we paid for the dvd of our flight, but the recording equipment wasn't working and they offered to mail it to us. Then they sent us a letter saying there was a malfunction of the video footage all together. So we are still awaiting our refund check.

Blue Hawaiian is so great. I have flown with them on 2 different islands and have not been at all disappointed. I love that they have very experienced and friendly pilots. They are very informative and they make sure you feel safe. I can't say enough good things about this experience. The tour was fantastic. The staff was great. It was 5 stars for sure.

I took a flight over Oahu with my girlfriend on 12/05/16.  Everything about the company and the flight was very good.  Can't really ask for better.  All safety procedures were followed. The pilot was knowledgeable and informative.  The flight lasted an hour and it takes off from the airport in Honolulu.  The actual office is a bit hard to find, but once located, everything was great.  I recommend Blue Hawaiian.  Cost for 2 people: $480.75.

We flew with Loren on the last day of our visit, and I can't imagine a better way to have concluded the trip. The pilot: Loren was equal parts professional, informative, entertaining, and skilled (as far as I could tell with my non existent previous helicopter experience). I'm sure the rest are also great (not sure how many there are in total), but if you can help it I highly recommend him. The route: The 50' flight starts at the airport, and after flying east over Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head for some amazing views, you head north following the east coast all the way to the north end. There are several spots along that coast that we did not have the chance to visit during our 5-day stay, including some that we couldn't visit by car or foot even if we wanted. Among those, a few breath-taking valley views and a very exciting close up at an otherwise inaccessible waterfall, one of the highlights of the flight. The tour experience: We flew in a 7-seat helicopter including the pilot, and we were lucky enough to sit at the front next to him, with 4 more people in the back. Seating is arranged by the ground crew based on weight distribution, so there is no point trying to make it first etc. From what I could tell, lighter people are seated in the front, while trying to seat groups (etc couples) together, so the best you can do is lose some pounds. I am sure all pilots are equally good at describing what you see and keeping the 50' minute flight captivating. Aside from being hilarious, Loren's commentary was very informative. Small touches like the perfectly fitting music in the background along the different points - e.g. epic music as we flew above military bases (which made me want to play Battlefield again) made the experience complete. In order to make the most of the flight, I suggest that you save it for last, so that you know what you are looking at as you fly over it. Loren filled us in with some details on the attack at Pearl Harbor, and since we had just visited Pearl Harbor that morning, it was great to actually fly along the path that was taken by the dive bombers and reimagine the attack at the different bases. Similarly, recognizing the different beaches and waypoints made the flight much more interesting (let alone the "I can see my house from here" part). Finally, if you book 5 days in advance, or if you book through expedia or a resort, you can save ~$30 off each ticket. We paid the $245 because we booked directly through Blue Hawaiian, because we wanted to choose a particular time slot (agencies give you a 2-3 hour window, and I'm not sure when they tell you the exact time of your flight) 5/5.

The highlight of our Hawaiian vacation. From start to finish Blue Hawaiian exceeded our expectations. The shuttle from our Waikiki hotel was a real bonus considering that the tour originates at Honolulu International. Ater the safety briefing you'll board an Ecostar for an unprecedented low level tour of Oahu that includes remote valleys, shore vistas, the interior pineapple plantations and Pearl Harbor that even many locals have never seen. Our pilot Julie provided an excellent narration and maneuvered in such a way that all on board had an opportunity to take photos and observe the spectacular scenery of the island. She also pointed out historic details that worked to enhance the experience. Don't be confused by some of the comments here that lament not getting the front seat. Seats are assigned by weight in order to insure the safest balance of the aircraft. In any case, there really are no "bad" seats on the Ecostar which has wide windows that afford all passengers a great view. This one is a no brainer folks. Worth every penny.
