A great helicopter ride even though it was on a slightly rainy day, but we got to see most of Kauai that cannot be reached normally. We got to see Puff the Magic Dragon's outline, as well some great waterfalls, and even fly right over a rainbow. The tour was great and the pilot was quite knowledgeable.
I just had the most incredible day with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters on Kauai. I am on a cruise and from pick up at the pier to delivery of the DVD that recorded the flight, this was a top notch experience. The employees were all friendly and obviously love what they do. Our pilot was Geoff and not only was he capable, he was a great guide, answered any questions and demonstrated his gentle Hawaiian manner and love of the island he calls home. The only complaint was there was too much to see - I had a seat next to Geoff and between watching him fly and trying to take in the scenery, I'm sure I missed half of it...I will return for another journey the next time I visit Kauai - and will return with the new appreciation that Blue Hawaiian has given me for the island. Mahalo and Aloha!
Just got back from Kauai and had booked the helicopter tour and had an absolutely amazing time. The Captain was Scott and he led an amazing tour full of history of the Island. The views were spectacular. If in Kauai this tour is a must. We had a little issue when checking in, but the staff corrected the problem and gave us the flash drive of our tour for the inconvenience which was very gracious. Thank you Blue Hawaiian.
A truly memorable experience, fantastic! Highly recommend.
My husband and I have been on many helicopter rides, so maybe it is a bit harder to impress us with such rides now. We were on a cruise ship in Kauai for two days and needed an activity to do on the second day. The shop for this helicopter company was the first one that we walked into. (We later encountered another helicopter ride business in another part of town, but later on, given our experience, we were glad that we went with this one.) Helicopter rides are expensive, but we saved money by going directly through the business rather than the cruise line, and we also had the extra fee for my husband's weight (over a certain number of pounds) removed by the kind cashier. Prior to the ride, we watched a thorough safety training video on a TV in a large room with other passengers. We climbed into the comfortable Eco-Star helicopter and met our friendly, informative, and skilled pilot. We immediately ascended into the air and headed on our way to see the rest of the island. We saw Waimea Canyon, mountains, valleys, plains, hills, waterfalls, and the coast. The land was very beautiful with its many shades of green, brown, blue... The ride was not long--maybe an hour--but I am glad that we went, because we otherwise would have missed so much of what the island has to offer. In the end, after we got off the helicopter, we ended up skipping the purchase of the DVD, as we probably would not watch it frequently. However, if this helicopter ride is the only one that you plan on taking in your life, maybe purchasing the DVD is not a bad idea. Overall, I would recommend this helicopter ride of Kauai if you are not on the island for long and want to see more of it. Every employee at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was professional and gave us a good experience.
This is one year late but better late than never! Took a 55 minute tour back in April 2015 and wow it was awesome! Incredible scenery from above that you simply can not see otherwise. Office staff and pilot Jeoffe or Joffre (sorry not sure of the spelling!) were friendly and awesome. Felt very secure with our pilot as he was a veteran (thank you for your service!), a definite plus for those like me that are not super crazy about flying (first helicopter ride for me). Thanks again guys, I will definitely recommend your company to my friends and family!
My husband and I took a flight with Scott on Wednesday. He was a wonderful tour guide (giving just the right amount of explanation) and we had a fabulous time. We felt safe and saw some truly incredible views. Our only complaint is that our helicopter malfunctioned somehow as we were coming into the airport. Our pilot kept a cool head, but we had to land at a maintenance station. A shuttle drove us back to the main waiting room. The staff was not accommodating or apologetic about the situation & there was no explanation from them about what had happened. Further - when my husband and I asked about purchasing the video from our flight, we were told we had to wait for Blue Hawaiian staff to retrieve the recording from the maintenance dock. We waited for 20 minutes. When we followed up about the status of the video we were told that as a result of the emergency landing somehow the video had been deleted, which we were really disappointed about (and frustrated that we had been left waiting for no reason). This left a sour taste in our mouth given what was otherwise a great trip.
This was my second Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour (1st was in Kauai). It's a great tour; we had a good pilot, very knowledgable and interesting. You do get to see much of the island that otherwise you wouldn't be able to see. My only suggestion would be that they improve their video equipment. Both my videos (Kauai and Big Island) are not so great, and it's hard to video yourself if you're sitting in the back. For the price of the tour, they should offer a better quality video. Also, we weren't informed to wear dark clothing. Otherwise, beautiful views of the Hamakua coast, Waipio Valley, lots of waterfalls and lava too (unfortunately or fortunately, we took our tour 2 days prior to recent eruption.)
****** MUST DO ******** If you come to the Big Island and you completely skip the helicopter tours, you're missing out on half the island! I first came here when I was really young and remember taking Blue Hawaiian Helicopters so as such when I became older and started going to Hawaii almost like a yearly tradition, I have chosen Blue Hawaiian again without question. I generally get motion sick but yesterday we rode the helicopter with Toshi and it was smooth as butter cream (the good kind and not the lumpy kind!). Don't skimp here with anything less than the Big Island spectacular. You need to be able to enjoy the entire experience of the volcano (yes, we did see lava), waterfalls and valleys. Unless you plan on hiking 6-8 hours, you will not be able to access much of this island! Well, yes, now the lava. The 3 times I have been here in the last 5 years, I have seen lava. Yes, it's not guaranteed as you never know when the lava is going to flowing but Kilauea has been active for the past 31 years. But remember you're not only here for just the lava. You're here to see the Jurassic Park like valleys and the 2k ft high waterfalls... The whole trip took about 2. 5 hours and they offered a stop over in Hilo. They take off at Kona and then take you all over the island. Sure it's expensive, but you really will not regret the amount you paid. If it weren't for my motion sickness, I would go on here every time I came to the islands!
Loved this tour and company! We did the whole island tour and got to see the active volcano! It was a great trip, little long (but can't do much about that), full of great history and fun facts. Shane was our pilot and I felt comfortable with him immediately. It was easy to book, decently priced considering the type of trip we took, and a ton of fun! The staff was friendly, efficient, and safe. The woman at the front desk convinced us to take the first flight of the morning because everything would be "crisp". She was so right! It was a beautiful time of day and allowed us the rest of the day to go experience some things on the ground. Got the DVD and was glad we purchased it so we could relive the trip and see some things we missed along the way!
Amazing! This was my favorite event of a week-long trip to Hawaii. I saw things that I would have never been able to see by foot or car. Although not typical, we got to see actual flowing lava. So cool! Our helicopter pilot, Shane, capped off the trip with a trip to an area that was breathtaking. Needless to say, I was far from disappointed by this experience. Would definitely do it again if I return.
Highlight of our honeymoon... for sure. This was our first helicopter ride and it was totally worth the money spent. We did it after someone recommended it when they heard we were going to Kauai since you can't see most the island otherwise. They have the sweetest, big, comfy, full view helicopters and they pilot was amazing. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and fun. We got to sit in the front because we were honeymooners, very sweet touch. We bought the DVD of the trip so we could show family and friends and relive the fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Unbelievable experience that my girlfriend and I will never forget. Ask for Toshi, great pilot that keeps it very entertaining. Would HIGHLY recommend doing this with Blue Hawaiian. Extremely professional, safe, and fun. Top notch all the way!
Did the Kohala coast your with John! He was awesomely entertaining and a great pilot. The ride was smooth and so worth it. There were so many beautiful sites that we would have missed out on, great job and we will be back!
Awesome awesome awesome! Highlight of the trip for sure. These guys are absolute pros, people...don't miss out! I loved that it was only a 5 minute drive from the Waikoloa resorts also.
