Mind-boggling stuff. The pictures are not lying to you. You see every nook and cranny of the island of Kauai. I think I'm actually a good person to listen to on here for this particular place because I really, really did NOT want to go on a helicopter. I was petrified. Not of heights, oddly - just of things going wrong. And I did fine. There's a low rumble before take off that gets your seat a little wiggly, but once you're airborne, it's pretty smooth. The sun heats up the cockpit by the mid-point of the journey, though there are a few air vents that try to keep things from becoming too ungodly. I did get pretty sweaty, though. While holding the handle bar for dear life, I saw things I could have never seen any other way. These are the fanciest helicopters on the island, and if you're skinny like me, you can usually get the better seats (yeah, seems unfair, but they have to weight-balance). Do it. It's pricey, but you'll be glad you did. And they film it and record your audio into handheld mics so you can buy the .AVI file later on a flash drive and laugh at yourself while gazing at the scenery later.
This is a no brainer once we did it. The pilot was we some and the chopper was great with the stadium seats (we had second row seats but it was not an issues ). The sights and views on the napa like coast and the canyons are amazing !!!
Can't come to Kauai and not take a helicopter tour. We chose Blue Hawaiian because they had the best helicopters. They're located at the airport helipads with all the other ones. Check-in was easy. They weigh you at the counter with a scale discreetly hidden under a rug. We were a lighter couple so we got to sit up-front with the pilot. The seating is 4 in the back row, and two passenger seats in the front next to the pilot. Definitely an advantage sitting up front. The flight time seemed like the 50 minutes promised. The routes were standard and Marty, our pilot, was very nice and knowledgeable. My only negative was that I saw other helicopters flying closer to the mountains/cliffs/falls. But I guess something can be said for being a little further back and seeing more. I'd give it 4.5 stars if Yelp allowed it. Bottom line is that it was definitely worth the money.
AWESOME! One of my favorite things we did in Hawaii! My husband and I were the two lucky ones that got to sit up front with the pilot and saw some amazing views of Kauai! Our pilot was Barrett who is a native Hawaiian and would point out a few of his childhood adventure spots as we flew over them. Communication was great as we were giving microphones to talk to the pilot and ask questions during the flight. They also record your flight with high definition camera's on the helicopter (they record views outside and inside the cabin and all conversation is recorded) and you can purchase the flight when you land. It's expensive ($50) but worth it if you want to remember it to the fullest. The flight was as smooth as it could be with rain and wind and there were just so many rainbows! A few of them were so vivid they looked solid. We flew by the Na Pali coast which is just gorgeous! We went into some cliffs and flew over the water for a bit. Barrett noted that a few pilots had seen whales just before whale watching season began (we didn't see any unfortunately). Over all shortest our of my life (I wanted it to last longer because I was having so much fun) and would do it again.
My wife, two kids (11, 13) and I went on this tour over Kauai due to a friend whom highly recommended it. It cost over $800 for the four of us, which is alot for me to spend as I'm a tight wad with money! It was worth every penny! By far this has been the high light of our trip. Between the time we paid and went i was concerned because of some of the negative reviews, specifically about seating and views. Trust me there is not a bad seat in the helo. The pilot, Barrett, was awesome as he is a native and narrated the tour superbly. He rotated the helo so that both sides could take photos of key sights. This is a must do tour! After having done this i do not recommend the long drive to the Wiamea Canyon as you see it on this tour. I would have liked the dvd of our tou,r but as i mentioned, I'm a tight wad w money! Perhaps a $10 price for the dvd as opposed to $25 would have had me buying it. It would be something cool to see later once the kid were all grown up. Thank you for the great experience.
Pilot Miguel and the crew and staff are helpful and polite. Safety first and enjoy the ride. They also recognized when someone was not feeling 100% and gave them some Quease-ease, but the person pulled though (that would have been VERY interesting, not in a good way!). Great job and worth it. The BH helis looked more substantial than then others we saw flying (I'm not an expert but they looked more new and hefty).
Great time. Pilot was great. The views of the valley , coast and waterfalls were great.
I'm a pilot for a major airline and had a layover in Kauai. I took the 50 minute helicopter tour of the island and can't say enough good about this company! They are efficient, friendly, and most importantly, safe. Every tour operator will say safety is their priority, but Blue Hawaiian shows it in everything they do, from the safety briefing to loading and deplaning. I am very careful about who I let fly my family. I would without reservation send them to Blue Hawaiian!
Wife and I took a tour on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters around Kauai, HI. Marty was our pilot. The aircraft was comfortable and quiet. State of the art aircraft equipped with cameras, music, and A/C. Highlights were the Waimea Canyon, Na Pali Coast, and the waterfalls. Highly recommend this company. Very pleased.
This was a splurge but an event that will be remembered. Pilot (Mark) was smooth and very knowledgeable about the island. This was very cool!
Great pilot (Shay) and wonderful experience. Kauai is such a diverse island and seeing it from the air is a once in a lifetime experience. Professional staff, clean facility, safe and affordable.
Overall great time. Scott, our pilot, was friendly and knowledgable. This was my first time in a helicopter and it was a nice view of beautiful Kauai. Very professional staff and setup. They are located right on the airport with a nice place to wait for your ride.
Incredible! I'm afraid of heights and also have a history of motion sickness so at first, I was really afraid to do this tour. However, my husband and my friends urged me to try, so I did. I'm so happy that I did. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had! Our pilot, Geoffrey Smith, a retired military guy, was so awesome! He flew the helicopter so smoothly that I didn't even get sick. And he was very friendly and professional. He was an extremely good pilot. You can tell that he's very skilled. Thank you Geoffrey for an incredible experience. The views of the crater and Napali coast were simply breathtaking. Highly recommended .
My parents treated my husband and I to this amazing helicopter tour of Kauai for our honeymoon because we thought it was too expensive and boy am I glad they did. I would have really felt like we missed out on something had we not taken this tour. Shay was a great pilot, with lots of history and fun tidbits during the ride. He also made us feel completely safe, always letting us know when we may feel some turbulence. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and there is no better way to see the island. The music played during the ride was great, especially the Jurassic Park theme song! Any seat from the helicopter pretty much had a great view, but try to request window or front seats, though this depends on your weight. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to hike the Napali coast, so I'm so glad we were able to see everything from the air. Great tour!
I was worried I would probably get a little motion sickness, but with this helicopter with there was no worries about that. The helicopter was stable even in very windy conditions. Our pilot, Geoff, was very competent and knowledgeable. The views that we saw can only be seen by helicopter. If it is a helicopter you need I suggest blue Hawaiian. There were six of us on the helicopter in each of us had our own individual seats with Glass all around to be able to take pictures throughout our trip. My only suggestion would be to wear "black" so you don't get any reflections on the windows for your pictures.
