I'm a pilot for a major airline and had a layover in Kauai. I took the 50 minute helicopter tour of the island and can't say enough good about this company! They are efficient, friendly, and most importantly, safe. Every tour operator will say safety is their priority, but Blue Hawaiian shows it in everything they do, from the safety briefing to loading and deplaning. I am very careful about who I let fly my family. I would without reservation send them to Blue Hawaiian!
Wife and I took a tour on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters around Kauai, HI. Marty was our pilot. The aircraft was comfortable and quiet. State of the art aircraft equipped with cameras, music, and A/C. Highlights were the Waimea Canyon, Na Pali Coast, and the waterfalls. Highly recommend this company. Very pleased.
This was a splurge but an event that will be remembered. Pilot (Mark) was smooth and very knowledgeable about the island. This was very cool!
Great pilot (Shay) and wonderful experience. Kauai is such a diverse island and seeing it from the air is a once in a lifetime experience. Professional staff, clean facility, safe and affordable.
Overall great time. Scott, our pilot, was friendly and knowledgable. This was my first time in a helicopter and it was a nice view of beautiful Kauai. Very professional staff and setup. They are located right on the airport with a nice place to wait for your ride.
Incredible! I'm afraid of heights and also have a history of motion sickness so at first, I was really afraid to do this tour. However, my husband and my friends urged me to try, so I did. I'm so happy that I did. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had! Our pilot, Geoffrey Smith, a retired military guy, was so awesome! He flew the helicopter so smoothly that I didn't even get sick. And he was very friendly and professional. He was an extremely good pilot. You can tell that he's very skilled. Thank you Geoffrey for an incredible experience. The views of the crater and Napali coast were simply breathtaking. Highly recommended .
My parents treated my husband and I to this amazing helicopter tour of Kauai for our honeymoon because we thought it was too expensive and boy am I glad they did. I would have really felt like we missed out on something had we not taken this tour. Shay was a great pilot, with lots of history and fun tidbits during the ride. He also made us feel completely safe, always letting us know when we may feel some turbulence. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and there is no better way to see the island. The music played during the ride was great, especially the Jurassic Park theme song! Any seat from the helicopter pretty much had a great view, but try to request window or front seats, though this depends on your weight. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to hike the Napali coast, so I'm so glad we were able to see everything from the air. Great tour!
I was worried I would probably get a little motion sickness, but with this helicopter with there was no worries about that. The helicopter was stable even in very windy conditions. Our pilot, Geoff, was very competent and knowledgeable. The views that we saw can only be seen by helicopter. If it is a helicopter you need I suggest blue Hawaiian. There were six of us on the helicopter in each of us had our own individual seats with Glass all around to be able to take pictures throughout our trip. My only suggestion would be to wear "black" so you don't get any reflections on the windows for your pictures.
My spouse and I have talked about taking a helicopter tour on Kauai, as it is supposed to be the best island to do this considering all the areas that you can't access by car or even hiking. Finally deciding that we would do it, we looked at all the companies available, comparing prices and reviews, and it came down to Jack Harter's and this company. We found gift certs at Costco ($79.99 for $100 value) and bought 5 allowing us to pay for 2 tix on Blue Hawaiian and with the left over $20 odd, we bought a hat. We booked a 9am tour b/c we would have the best views in the AM before the clouds came over the mountains. They fly Eco stars which are more luxurious A-stars. Great comfortably firm seats, they have head sets to talk with the pilot and hear his narration, and really large windows to view out of. The pilot is on the left side, allowing the front 2 passengers all the viewing, esp as all the helicopter companies go around the island in a clockwise direction keeping the right side to the views. Our pilot, an Army Ranger retired, did turn around to redo areas for those on the left. The flight lasted 50 minutes (they say 50-55), which sounds short, but was still long enough to get great views of the island. We wanted to sit in the front to get forward and side views, esp for the person in the middle, who, like the ones seated in the middle rear seats, has to lean over the other to see out the side. The rear seats (4) are not as good in terms of no real forward photo opps, but for those seated on the outside, the side views are unobstructed. Due to weight considerations, everyone is weighed when they come in the door to sign in on their flight day, we got the right side. The front seats have to equal to the pilot's weight, and then balance in the back. I was on the outside so my spouse had to lean over me. While he could get great views without the camera, the angle that the window is when leaning over, made photoing somewhat difficult for the middle passengers. The safety briefing is done by video and then repeated by the staff, which makes it stick in better. Also, there are individual vents over the seat so that if you want more or less air on you it can be adjusted. I tend to get motion sick on small boats and planes, so I took a Dramamine and kept the air vent aimed at me, this took care of the problem. The pilot will also increase or decrease the temp or flow in the cabin if individual vent manipulation is not enough. I would definitely recommend this company for a safe, fun, value filled flight! They are friendly and take care to give you a great experience. If I had the money, I might charter our own so as to get the front seats, but that isn't until I win the lottery.
Most beautiful tour I've ever been on. Puts the Grand Canyon to shame. Pilot kept the helicopter flying smoothly even with imperfect weather conditions. He talked a lot about the island but honestly I was so blown away by the views I don't remember what he said. LOL! We spotted some whales and he flew over for us the check them out. We paid about $220 and it came with 1 shirt and a DVD of various heli tours of the islands. If it was $50 less it would have been way better but it was so amazing to see the island like that I'll forget what we paid and just have an amazing memory of Kauai.
Breathtaking. Absolutely the highlight of our trip. Blue Hawaiian is very organized and the whole process was seemless and fun. Our pilot Joffrey was fantastic- very knowledgable about the island, friendly, and was clearly a very experienced helicopter pilot. Highly recommend and worth the premium to go with Blue Hawaiian!
Highly recommend this! Was so awesome and such gorgeous scenery! We got to see places on the island that can only be seen by air. The pilot was very nice and informative as well as all the crew. I do recommend taking a Dramamine before if you get sick easily. We had some turbulence and I even got a bit queasy, which isn't normal. But I would do it again! Next we wanna helicopter tour of the big Island!
My wife and I took a helicopter tour on our very first visit to Kauai, more than 30 years ago, and we weren't really planning to do one again, but the boat trip that we were supposed to go on was repeatedly cancelled because of rough waters in the NaPali coast area, and we did want to get a nice view of that area of the island, so on our last full day on the island we decided to splurge and do the helicopter thing again. I'm glad we did; it was a phenomenal experience with exceptional views of Kauai's wonderful scenery. Expensive, yes, but well worth it in terms of memories and photos. The helicopters used by this company all seem quite modern and up to date. One potential drawback that customers should be aware of is that not all seats are by the window. My wife and I were guaranteed that one of us would have a window seat, and while she did get one, I wound up in the second of two rows in the middle. (It's not a question of first-come, first-served; seats are selected by a computer based largely on weight distribution, and heavier folks are likely to get stuck in the middle.) Had I not been traveling with my wife, this would have been a real problem unless single passengers are guaranteed window seats, and I don't know if they are (I could see fine, but taking pictures would have been very problematic), but at least with her in the window seat I could stick my camera in front of her and take pictures out of her window (we had a pre-flight agreement that I could do this). Even with this accommodation, I think she had a better experience than I did, so perhaps my 5 stars should really be a 4, but I give them 5 anyway because I really liked the people and the overall experience, and short of flying with fewer people on each trip I don't see how the company could do much about this issue. There are several cameras affixed to the copter, one internal and the others external, and the pilot switches from one to the other depending on where the best views are. Thus, for every flight, an individual video of that particular trip is made, and can be purchased for a little more than 40 dollars. (There are two options: a blue-ray, or a memory stick that you can use to download the video on your computer.) We purchased the video, which came out beautiful and makes for a great souvenir. (Because of the internal camera, though, there are frequent cuts to the people in the helicopter, so be sure you don't pick your nose or anything while flying). The videos record not only great views but the pilot's excellent commentary, so at the end of the trip you know where you've been. My wife found this very helpful when she posted an album of photos that she took. All told: highly recommended. This may easily prove to be the highlight of your visit to Kauai.
Professional! Great pilot/tour guide; excellent equipment; great ride. Worth the money. We loved it and paid for our grown daughter and her husband to go during a return trip to Kauai. Highly recommended!
The most amazing part of our trip! It's an absolute MUST DO! We had Pilot Brody and he was spectacular! Literally had tears in our eyes the entire time, it's an amazing way to see the island's beauty and wonder. Highly highly recommend Blue Hawaiian!!
