What a great experience and what a great pilot Greg if you get the chance to do this the circle of fire it is worth every penny. I was so nervous being in an helicopter but Greg put you at ease the whole experience was wonderful A must do

Enjoyed the great tour by Colleen. Her knowledge and Q&A responses gave us a much clearer understanding for ALL we would see and do on our trip to the Big Island. Highly recommend this as a starter activity!

Jim did a great job of flying us around some of Maui's mountains, including the volcano Haleakala and provided tons of information about the history and ecosystem of Maui and Hawaii as a whole. Would definitely fly with Blue Hawaiian again.

My first trip in a helicopter and it was definitely worth every second. Scott was our pilot who made everyone feel comfortable, was so knowledgeable about the volcanoes especially with the current lava flow about to cross the highway and possibly cut off that part of the island. I was sitting in the front and had amazing views of the volcanoes, the steam rising, the old lava flows and the vegetation coming back. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Then Scott took us to view the waterfalls in the other side of the island which were spectacular. Thanks Scott, a great start to a days adventure on the Big Island.

We flew in the Eco-1 series. There were 6 people in total on our tour. Matt was our pilot. I have never been in a helicopter and I am very prone to any type of motion sickness! To say that I was very anxious is putting it mildly. I had heard that seeing the volcanoes this way was a once in a life time experience! And I have to agree. First Matt did an outstanding job, flying explaining everything, asking if everyone was ok? He kept the craft so steady that I had 0 problems. He circled around each volcano so everyone could see, there was no bad vantage point. I felt very safe. Really he explained every step of the way so there was never a time when I felt unsure of what was going to happen next. I was glad we booked the larger bird. In my opinion it was worth it to have the extra space. We got to ask lots of questions. Learned and saw so much. It really was the highlight of out hawaii trip! We did leave from Hilo, eventhough we were staying in Kona the drive over the mountain is 1. 5 hours. Next time I would check out other tours that blue hawaii does. They fly on the other islands as well! I would highly recommend this company.

We researched the helicopter companies out of Hilo, called the main ones and chose Blue Hawaii. They exceeded our expectations! The front desk was very professional both on the telephone and in person. The safety briefing was well done and appropriate. The personal and friendly service taking us to and from the aircraft was well done and efficient. The flight itself was fantastic! The pilot, Scott, was a tremendous host! He ran a great tour that far exceeded our expectations. Very well done from start to finish!

First trip on a helicopter. So a bit concerned, but need not have been. Our pilot Eric was very good. Smooth flight in windy conditions. Cancelled once, the weather the day before was terrible. The waterfalls were amazing. Would recommend this trip.

I think our pilots name is Mark and he was great at narrating. No to talkative. Had a great view of the volcano. Theost disappointing thing was the water fall. Was not very impressed.

The weather near Hilo is unpredictable and we did have some light rain or car wash as Ethan our pilot called it. We were able to see the new lava flow (most all of which is under ground right now). We did see a couple of small areas of orange lava and went directly over the active volcano. The waterfalls were awesome to see from the air and Ethan did a great job of narrating our trip.

We did circle of fire helicopter. Our pilot was very friendly and informative. That being said, we had already done a road trip on the Big Island and saw plenty of lava rock, steam vents and visited Volcano National park. We took the helicopter to see flowing lava and especially to overlook the crater as is depicted on the brochure and do a close up of a waterfall. We didn't get anywhere near the Kilauea crater and our pilot indicated they don't go there because of the VOG, volcanic air polution and we only quickly saw what appeared to be a port hole of flowing lava. Given the volcano was very active at the time, we expected more. We saw a number of waterfalls but from a distance. If all you want to see if tons of black lava rock and a few steam vents go for it. We could have spend $500.00 in a better fashion.

if you are on the big island a must to do is the helicopter tour how amazing and beautiful, wonderful pilot amazing information and the volcanoes and coast line are breathtaking. Be sure to buy the dvd of your ride which shows inside the cabin and all of the scenery outside. You can go on many tours but the helicopter is the only true way to see such beauty, The music that is put with the tour is first class. A most memorable trip for my husband and I, we couldn't stop smiling, enjoy Aloha!!!

I always say that a person's (or in this case a company's) true character is revealed when adversity strikes. In my case, this is exactly what happened. We signed up for the Fire and Waterfalls trip and when we got on the helicopter, they discovered that a door was stuck. While they were attempting to get it open, a rainstorm hit. While I was nice and dry inside the helicopter, my parents were getting drenched outside. It took the crew a good five minutes to realize this and they finally got us under cover. Needless to say my folks were not happy and to make matters worse, they made us wait another fifteen minutes before they informed us we would not be going on the trip. Back at the front desk, we were given an option to go later in the day which did not work for us. Frustrated, I asked about the next morning. That is when things started taking a turn for the better. They put us on a flight at the same time the next day and gave all four of us a complimentary upgrade to the larger helicopter (Eco Star). This represents a $200 value so it was an extremely nice gesture. In the end, they made a bad situation better. Thanks! The next morning, the flight took off without incident. The flight itself is rather short but you do spend a decent amount of time looking at the lava flow. The pilot was very accommodating when it came to circling the area a few times for us to take video/pictures. You will also get a nice view of the coast and old lava flows. The waterfalls part is a bit disappointing. You are so far up in the air that it is not all that impressive. Those promo pics of a helicopter hovering next to a waterfall is NOT what you will see on this adventure. Think more of a walk through Legoland where everything is in miniature and you won't be disappointed. You might think that from my description and initial unpleasant experience that I was not happy plucking down my $200 for a ticket. Quite the opposite. I cannot convey the sheer wonder you will feel seeing a live lava flow or watching lava cause a tree to burst into flames. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience and is not the place in your vacation budget to be pinching pennies. I will also strongly advocate for buying the DVD of your trip. Yes the quality is not HD but the video is still watchable and you would be surprised how easy it is to miss something when you are trying to shoot video through a helicopter window, even one that is as large as the ECO star. Which leads me to my final recommendation... If you can afford it, go with the ECO star. I have sat in both and there is a very noticeable difference. Depending on where you are sitting in the helicopter, it can be a big deal. One last note... there is a fee to park at the airport. This is not the Company's doing but it does add a few bucks to the cost of your trip (I want to say $5 but I'm not certain).

What a great way to view the Kilauea volcano! As an added bonus you will see some great waterfalls on the way back to the airport.
