We made a booking weeks in advance and got canceled at the last minute due to impending weather. Such things happen, so be prepared. They were great about rebooking us and were able to get us on a copter that left the next day (and not at 7am). Tour was so great we bought the cheesy DVD of our experience. Probably overpriced, but a nice record of a great experience. Lava wasn't flowing much (like it is now), but the pilot did his best to find some interesting spots to show us. Great experience... expensive, but worth it.

Everything about our flight and experience with Blue Hawaiian was excellent. The sights were amazing and our pilot and guide, Scott, brought everything together. I highly recommend and hope to be back soon for another cherished memory.

We recently rode the 2 hour Big Island Spectacular from Waikoloa with Blue Hawaiian helicopters and had an absolutely fabulous experience. The views and sights were out of this world as we got to see the lava flow as well as beautiful cathedral waterfalls. Our pilot, Shane, was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining. This was our 4th helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian (2 on Kauai and 1 on Maui) and we will always recommend this company. The grounds crew and pilots have all been professional and very friendly and we always get our money's worth. We enjoy the dvd's of our trips during the long, snowy winters when we are far from the islands as well.

we expected alot, but what we got went far beyond our wildest expectations. Interesting, safe and absolutely breathtaking - pricey, but more than worth it. I've taken many helicopter tours all over the world, but this one was the best of all. besides, there's no better way to see this awesome island close up - they take you to areas that aren't accessible any other way. DO IT - the memory will last a lifetime.

This was by far the highlight of my trip to Hawaii. We took the Big Island Tour and we flew all over and saw the volcano and the waterfalls. I have never done anything so amazing before.

The pilot was excellent in both personality and flying skill. The sights were fantastic. We were able to look down upon the Kilauea volcano and see the molten lava in the crater as well as the flow setting trees on fire a s it inches along. Thrilling!

This was my first time in a helicopter and it was awesome. Our pilot Scott was great and made the trip fun. He made sure everyone could see the lava and waterfalls. I would go again in a heartbeat.

We got to see actual lava flowing...what an excellent way to do that!!!! No seat was bad and the company helped deal with special needs with dignity. Originally concerned about the price but it was more than worth the cost. The pilot, Coleen was outstanding. Did the Company proud and knows more than many Hawaiians. The support ground staff was great too!!! Thank you so much!

The helicopter pilot "Tim" was very informative about the area we flew over. Able to view current lava flows and could observe red hot spots. Tour was good value for the cost. Thanks for the experience.

What a fabulous flight we had. We booked the volcano and waterfall flight and it was amazing. Our pilot Nathan gave excellent commentary throughout and ensured we all saw the very best views possible. Flying over an active volcano is truely memorable. A definite must to do when you visit Big Island. Thank you

We took the flight early from Hilo. Pilot Jax was gentle and knowledgeable. He offered us as much as we wanted to see over the lava. We saw many falls and it was nice. Although, nature been nature manage your expectations; you may must see not so much real lava. Ride is interesting, great tour. Professionnal company. We reserved the tour at the hotel with expedia but next time we will go directly on internet . We payed à bit morte than it was rated on their site.

Now if you expect to see lava spewing up out of the ground, then you will be very disappointed. If you expect to see a remarkable landscape with flowing magma in spots and an active caldera, then you won't be disappointed. Our pilot was Colleen and she really had a lot of great information. She had good historical knowledge and put things in perspective. The way they fly they make sure both sides of the helicopter see the sights. We could see the magma flow at the end of the rain forest slowly burning it and then you fly over the cone of one and see the steam vents and what they call skylights, pockets where the ground collapsed and you can see the magma flowing under it. We did the Circle of Fire and Waterfalls tour, and you get to see some great waterfalls as well. We did have a very clear day because we could even see the observatories atop Mauna Kea in the distance which is a rarity. I was sitting in the back in the middle and could see everything very well. My 9 year old daughter sat next to me next to the window and had a great time. The pilot engaged her in conversation as well to really make it special. We took Blue Hawaiin years ago in Maui for a tour. It was great as well.

Flew with Nathan - great tour and very good pilote. Smooth ride and Nathan made sure that everybody saw everything. Will recommend you!

A very experienced pilot, comfortable helicopter with excellent headphones, and a beautiful day. We had the perfect flight, early morning before got too hot. Only disappointment was Merilyn having a centre seat. Next time would insist on a seat on right side (pilot's view) or front seat. Weather is the challenge here, cloud and rain roll onto the hills and visibility can restrict scenic views. We watched the forecast a few days ahead, then crossed fingers. August is not high season, but even then had to book ahead three days with Blue Hawaiian or Safari. You can trek six hours each way to see hot lava up close, or do it this way. Talking to people who did the trek then just got to poke a stick at some hot stuff, an aerial view was much more interesting. Unless the volcano is really active, lava is always going to be grey on top with the odd red hot liquid patch showing through. Some of our photos show trees smouldering alongside what otherwise look quite innocuous lava fields. Tour also takes in some impressive waterfalls. Next visit we very much would like to take a 4wd trek to the top of Mauna Kea.

Awesome tour and a must do for anyone visiting the Big Island. Our only regret was not doing the longer tour but we had a nervous flyer with us. Chelsea was amazing and very accommodating when we under estimated our journey time from Kona. Highly recommended.
