Not having been to this part of Hawaii before this is one of our best vacations- in part to experiencing the whole island of Maui tour by helicopter. With 5 in our family we really had a chartered flight- lucky us!! Reading other trip advisor comments I rang confirming that today would be good no matter whether it was morning or afternoon as the weather had steadily been perfect with no cloud and only minor winds. This Eco star tour was worth every cent. Excellent safety instructions, Bose noise cancelling headphones with appropriate music and a microphone to talk to the pilot and each other. We had Gernot the pilot supervisor with 22 years experience- lucky us- the conditions were amazing and he said that's why he wished to go today.Seeing the road to Hana from above meant we didn't have to do the tour on road.(It was very much like the roads in NZ so for us probably wouldn't have been that worthwhile). The greenery, valleys and deep crevices, lava tubes, Jurassic park scenery and amazing waterfalls, as well as the "crater" were all in their splendour.65 minutes of pure bliss, wonder and laughs. A highlight was seeing 6 humpback whales!!! 2 lots of 3- what a treat. We bought a wee aviator bear, magnet, a t shirt,as well as the DVD which was hilarious for us to watch due to our teenage girls comments. All the ground and support crew were also amazing. Just a wee note that parking is $7 and if you don't have the right amount no change is given(we could have parked for 4 hours! but really who cares when you experience the ride). Thanks to Gernot and Blue Hawaiian helicopters this will be a memorable time for us and our girls for years to come!!!
I got the "blue skies of Oahu" tour as a gift and loved every second of it. From pick up to drop off. Ground crew was great. Especially Martin (?) who took care of pick ups. Very friendly and professional. Keep on singing buddy :) Chris, our pilot, was awesome. He was professional and made me feel safe. I loved how he narrated the tour, it made me smile a lot!! Thanks! The views were spectacular and a fantastic way to see the island. All in all a VERY good day! I would recommend it to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
The West Maui/ Molokai Tour was fantastic! You check in for your tour about 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. The waiting area is comfortable with seating areas throughout, water, tea, coffee, and some water features that help to calm your nerves (if you're like me and are nervous to fly in a helicopter for the first time, this is great). We went on one of the larger Eco Star helicopters, which I highly recommend! They are much larger then their other helicopters (a-star??), and look like they'd be a bit cramped inside. This was my first helicopter tour, but I can definitely recommend the West Maui Molokai Tour for those visiting Maui. It is great to see Molokai, an island most people don't get to experience. Molokai has the largest sea cliffs in the world, and is full of enormous waterfalls, which are truly breathtaking! Our pilot Rick was fantastic!- He was super knowledgeable on the history and geological history of Molokai. Due to weather we were unable to explore West Maui, but Rick took us whale watching instead. I have been on several whale watches and seen them from the beach a bunch, but seeing whales from an aerial view was such a unique sight- it was amazing! The entire experience was excellent. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!
We did the west Maui and Molokai helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian ecostar helicopters. It was expensive but definitely worth it. This was our first helicopter ride and we were amazed how smooth the ride was. The views of the Island and the waterfalls were stunning. Strongly recommend.
We enjoyed our flight and found it very informative. We did see several whales in the water and a number of waterfalls. Felt safe the entire time.
Blue Hawaiian proves to the best among the others . Our pilot was amazing and she took care of each and every one . Always prefer to fly by eco type gives more space. The 2 hour one is the best.
Enjoyed the volcano tour today. Weather was great. Felt very safe. It is a very good way to see the island, water falls and volcano in one day!
We booked our trip "small group road to Hana luxury tour and helicopter flight"through Viator, we have used this company before and they are very good. We went to the heliport and had a safety briefing and away we went. It was fantastic and the pilot ( a lady) was very professional and knew her job very well. She answered all questions and explained everything very well as we went along. We landed in Hana and was picked up by luxury mini bus. Again we had a lady driver and she was exceptionally knowledgeable we had a nice lunch in a picnic area by the sea served on white linen table cloths (a nice touch). We had a nice leisurely drive back and stopped at various points of interest. I must say in my opinion the road from Hana was not as bad as we thought, you have to be careful and some places you have to let cars through when it narrows but we have been on scary roads in Greece. Overall Avery good trip.
Hard to know where to start. Staff are professional. The equipment is modern and well maintained. Worth the extra money to go on the Ecostar. A wonderful modern flying machine. No bad seats. This is a "must do" amd frankly worth every penny. We have been coming for over 18 years amd had never tried it due to the cost. Well.... let me tell you, we waited 17 years too long! They have a fair rebook or refund policy if it rains so don't hesitate.
The Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours on the main four islands are the best investment to see all of the islands. You cannot experience the vast and beautiful Islands of Hawaii without getting in the air. The pilots give you great information as you fly over the vast volcano and sea around the islands. They found whales in the beautiful ocean. From the molten lava to the tubes of red, hot lava streaming and steaming into the ocean. Unless you spend a lot of time on each island, there is no way to see the beauty and volcanic land building of the islands. The pilots give you a lot of background of each island and some of the history of the islanders. We did helicopter tours on four of the islands and it was well worth the cost. Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours!
I was so nervous getting into that helicopter but it was something we really wanted to do! We wanted to see the full island of Maui from the sky. But as soon as I was buckled, head set on and our pilot started talking to us, I felt safe and secure. As soon as we started to see the views, all the fear went away! It was absolutely breathtaking! Definitely a must do in Maui, the complete island was so worth it! They are so safe, professional, knowledgeable and kind. We had a female pilot (I can't remember her name) but she was so awesome. She definitely made the trip! Thank you Blue Hawaiian! We will definitely be back. P.S. - The music they play into the headsets is awesome! And really helps you relax. So cool!
My husband and I went on the West Maui/Molokai helicopter tour. The scenery on Molokai was breathtaking, but I think I loved the flight over the channel the best. It was amazing to see the whales breaching from above. We went on several whale watches by boat that were fabulous, but from above, you can see the entire whale from tip to tail. Dean was a great pilot and made sure everyone had great views of the scenery.
Excellent guide (Greg?) with a good sense of humor. The flight was breathtaking. Of course the perfect weather and low winds added to the experience. Check in was seamless, very well organized. Lots of opportunity for pictures.
Our pilot was 'Rick' - he gave a really excellent tour - the flight was very smooth (no turbulence) - we flew up canyons that are inaccessible by land - circled whales - and made a complet tour of the island. I thought it was super!!
On the morning of our 40th anniversary we did the Maui Spectacular tour, which circles all of Maui and lands in the upcountry for about 20 minutes, where you enjoy a glass of champagne with an amazing view. It was a first helicopter ride for both my husband and myself and it was amazing. Katie, our pilot, was fun and informative, and since it had been raining a lot the previous week, we were able to see so many waterfalls we wouldn't have been able to see any other way. It was not bumpy, even though we passed through lots of different weather over the 90 minute tour, and it was fascinating to see the landscape change. On our first visit to Maui, we'd done the sunrise at Haleakala and the Road to Hana, but this time we saw all that from the air, a whole new perspective. I'm not a person who liked thrill rides, but I absolutely loved it. It was a wonderful splurge and we were both so happy we'd done it. The HD video of the tour was $30 and it was all on a small jump drive that made it easy to take home, and the memory lasts forever.
