We did the helicopter over the road to Hana and Haleakala crater yesterday morning before we left Maui. Our pilot was Tim, he was awesome. The views from up above are beautifu,l he told us some of the history. If you've never done a helicopter tour, you should!!!
We actually were hoping to do the West Maui/Moloka'i tour but were upgraded to this Complete Circle Island Tour instead. So grateful that we were able to see the Haleakala National Park from above, totally surreal. Our pilot showed us where all the water that feeds into Hana originates from. The highlight though, was probably the spectacular waterfalls in West Maui. The "Wall of Tears" in the Pu'u Kukui Forest Reserve was mind blowing. Service was easy through our concierge desk. The heliport is 5 minutes outside of OGG (a 45 minute drive from the resort areas in Lahaina/ Ka'anapali) and they have you check in 45 minutes prior to the flight. We were advised to wear black or dark colored clothing without large logos to minimize the reflection in photographs. Helicopter sat six people and my partner and I were on the rear bench, she had the window and I was next to her.
A "must do" on the island of Maui ! Bird's eye views, incredible scenery. Friendly, accommodating staff.
My husband wanted to go. I said, no way are we paying $600 to do this. He said he would pay, so off we went. While I was nauseous and scared out of my mind, it was the best part of our trip. We did the West Mountains and Molikai. Kate was our pilot. We were so impressed with her. We went places no one has ever walked. Flew into canyons with waterfalls. Yes, I thought I died and went to heaven. We bought the flash drive of the trip and I just wish it was better to show the beauty. It was like I was on a National Geographic film shoot. I still say, pinch me, did I really do this. Everyone, just do it.
Don't wait another year to do it, its so worth the $ & your spouse will love you for it. Tour a few islands and see waterfalls that few get to see.
Ryan was an outstanding guide. He made the flight memorable and also had a sense of humor. The Maui Spectacular tour was pedometer with a landing. We also saw a whale. Overall an outstanding flight.
Tim was our pilot and was full of interested statistics and information about Maui. This was my 9th visit to Maui and I learned a lot from him. We did the complete tour and got to see all the high points of the island
An absolutely thrilling experience, presented very professionally and with great customer service. We took the West Maui & Molokai North Shore trip, and recommend it for a great introduction and (literal) overview of these most beautiful areas. Check-in and the safety briefing were quick, thorough and professional, and pre-flight checks for seat belts and headphones/mics were likewise straightforward and thorough. The flight itself was brilliant; handled with enough care and smoothness to provide an exciting experience without ever becoming scary. It's tough to present the best views to passengers on both sides of the helicopter, but the pilot made enough turns to provide great (if different) views to everybody, and gave a steady, well-informed commentary throughout. Playing the theme to "Hawaii Five-O" on take-off was a bit much, though, although it did give everyone on board a smile! One caveat to set expectations: the Eco-Star helicopter we flew in seats six, but the four in the rear are on a single bench seat, so the center two positions don't get quite the view the others do. The prime seats are the two up front alongside the pilot, and while you can request them the mandatory requirements for passenger weight distribution and balance may require them to be given to someone else. The suggestion to wear dark clothing to prevent unwanted reflections and highlights in the helicopter's windows is for real, and if you can stand to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants you really will minimize the problem. But it's hard to eliminate, so be prepared. The video of your trip is well worth the extra $40 for the clarity of the photography, compiled from three external cameras and one in the cockpit. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Any helicopter ride is a thrill, but Blue Hawaiian's professionalism and thorough approach make a big difference.
This is the ultimate must do when in Maui. This amazing experience is very professionally run from check in to departure. We did the complete island tour with our pilot Tim on weds a.m. Tim is soooo knowledgable about the entire island especially when it comes to the islands ecosystem and history/culture. This melded with a fantastic sense of humour made our trip all the more enjoyable. Big thank you to blue Hawaiin and especially to Tim our pilot
We hadn't planned to do a helicopter trip, but heard rave reviews from a friend and booked the tour. So glad we did. We flew over Molokai - what a beautiful place! The people were very friendly and knowledgeable. It rained and we were blessed with a beautiful rainbow! We would definitely do it again.
Our helicopter tour over West Maui and Molokai was fantastic! We had a nice day and saw waterfalls thousands of feet high, beautiful coastlines and gorgeous scenery. This is a must do and worth the expense. Our tour lasted about 1 hour and we took Blue Hawaiian because it was the top rated helicopter tour company. Several of us had not flown in a helicopter before and the ride was very smooth and our pilot was fantastic. Thanks to my brother Dan for treating us to a great experience!
Took a trip with my mom around the Maui island. Saw a lot of amazing waterfalls. The views were absolutely beautiful. Staff was pleasant. Trip was a but pricey but well worth it.
I spent a lot of time researching the various helicopter tours in Maui and choosing Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was an excellent choice. The entire experience was very organised and professional, from check-in to the flight to purchasing a DVD of the flight afterwards. The flight itself was magnificent - very smooth and he views were breathtaking. Our pilot, Glenda, was chatty without being over the top and she ensured that everyone on the flight was able to take ample photos. I would highly recommend a helicopter flight over Hana / Haleakala and I would recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.
The new EcoStar helicopters are wonderful Like flying on a magic carpet - unbelievable experience! My only complaint is that they force you to listen to silly music via the headphones After 30 minutes of involuntary music I asked the pilot if he could turn it off, which he did. Much better with just his occasional commentary.
Book early in your trip in case you need to reschedule for weather. No better way to see the island!!
