We saw the West Maui Mountains and the huge water falls of Molakai. We have been told that driving Maui only gives so much prospective and so much scenery. This trip was unbelievable and the waterfalls over in Molakai were so worth the trip. I never knew or thought about the summer breeding area of hammerheads but, now at least we know where the spot is located.
Blue Hawaiian is the way to go. Great customer service prior and during the flight. They are prompt, responsible, and courteous. Glinda our pilot was wonderful. She explained everything throughout the flight and told us interesting facts about Hawaii and Maui. They are a wonderfully run company and I would 100% recommend them. I loved it even though our original flight was cancelled due to weather so we had to pick a different route but it was still every bit of exciting and amazing. Thanks so much Blue Hawaiian!
This was on my husbands bucket list for our trip, we booked the trip while still in Oahu, with Kim from the Hyatt who is awesome by the way!! The staff were friendly as we checked in, we had to be weighed as seat assignment are computer generated based on weight.....Derek our pilot (who had only been there 4 months) was great...the pilots play there own soundtracks, and Dereks was awesome!! starting the flight with "Kill Bill" on to Mission Impossible Jurassic Park (when we flew over the Jurassic Rock) everything fit!! and made the flight more enjoyable..we didn't get to see the crater due to cloud but he took us as far into the Valley as could, we did the 60 minute tour and couldn't believe when it was over... Irecommend this to anyone, you will never regret doing it!!!!
A must in Kauai. Not a heights person at all. Felt entirely safe. No turbulence. Scenery is out of control. This is the best co to use. Best safety profile
The views are just amazing and we were able to see a lot as the weather was on our side, we have done the complete island tour. We have chosen Blue Hawaiian, because we could talk to the pilot, which was really a plus. Mike, our pilot, was very friendly and informative. Juste à WOW experience and highly recommend it!!!
Went on our vacation with our 10 year old and 13 year old kids. Bought the high end tour in the biggest helicopter and the longest tour time. Our pilot was Michael. Hanger was very clean and nice. Crew on the ground were very professional and nice. The helicopter was a seven passenger Eurocopter. I'm a helicopter freak and this was a treat getting to ride in one. Our pilot was very safe and courteous and knew a lot of information about the island and the tour. We flew a loop of the island and landed for a snack. Would definitely do this again. My only complaint about the whole experience was the long check in time. We arrived at 10:30 as required. Watched a 5 minute FAA safety video and then sat and waited until 11:20 to leave. The lobby is very nice and they show a professional and educational video about the Hawaiian islands and some of their tours, but that's a long time to wait when you are on vacation. But that is a small complain for the overall experience. Would go again.
My wife and I have previously taken Blue Hawaiian on the Big Island and on Kuai - both excellent trips. Our tour of Maui achieved that same high level. The helicopters are comfortable, and the pilots are great and very informative. A helicopter tour is great way to get the lay of the land and should be done early in your stay - it can identify other places to go. Blue Hawaiian is a class act - and not all companies achieve that level.
I have never been on a helicopter before, so this was a first! I was a bit nervous, because I do not like to fly, but this was super fun! Tim was our pilot and he was a wealth of knowledge about the island and the history of the island. He played some really awesome music too! The views from above is pretty spectacular. You stop on top of one of the mountains and have a champagne toast! Be sure to wear closed toed shoes, as there are cow patties on the mountaintop. We took a lot of pictures from the helicopter, it is best to wear dark clothes so that your reflection doesnt show up in your pictures. We went on the morning tour. Take lots of pictures
If you've never done a helicopter tour in Maui, then you need to check out Blue Hawaiian helicopter tours. Their helicopters are state-of-the-art, quiet, smooth, and comfortable.
Our first helicopter trip and I was more than a little nervous. We had a private helicopter tour because I wanted it to be an exclusive experience for my husband and I, but with that said I wanted to be in the back seats. LOL. Mike, our great pilot, came out and tried/and did talk me into the middle seat up front. He was right and I am glad he talked me into it. The trip was amazing. We went on a great morning, with no clouds, took the Hana/Haleakala tour on Maui, and even got a sneak peak into an area Mike said he only gets to go into 30% of the time. My husband got awesome pictures which we already have put on our “vacation” wall. The staff were great and again, Mike was informative, professional and understanding of my apprehension. One of the highlights, beyond the waterfalls that you can only see from the air, was when we started out they played the Hawaii 5-0 song, very funny and a stress reducer. The views and the turns were spectacular. The hour trip “flew” and we recommend it to anyone who is going to any island in Hawaii.
My husband and I took this trip and really enjoyed it. The staff when we arrived was a little preoccupied, but as they processed the guests, they became more talkative and friendly. In fact, it seemed like the more I visited, the friendlier they became. So often when dealing with the public, you aren't treated well. The pilot was nice and we were able to see all but one valley on our tour. Unfortunately, clouds had moved in and made it unsafe. The views from above were amazing. I appreciated how the pilot took the time to make sure both sides of the helicopter received great views. He also did a great job talking us through the bumpier part of the flight and worked at reassuring a few of the really nervous passengers. I would go on another tour and see more of the island if I ever get back to Maui.
Went on the big island spectacular from Waikoloa with Greg O as our pilot. Helicopter was roomy- air conditioner blows better from the inner seats and the view is still fantastic. Views of Kilauea lava and Waimanu falls were gorgeous!! Excellent commentary and music by the pilot. Expensive, but worth every penny!
It was cloudy so we detoured but were satisfied. We saw Oprah's house and private road, and where Jurassic Park was filmed. Lots more.
I would highly recommend this helicopter tour! It was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life. You start out flying under the clouds through the 5,000 foot high valley and mountains in West Maui. The tour then circles back to the East where you can see the last lava flows on the Island. You then land at a small cottage on top of one of the mountains where champagne is served and you can get a few cool pictures of the Island from above. From there the pilot takes you up to 9,000 feet to see the Haleakala volcano and crater practically in the clouds. He then circles above Hana town and you get to see all the waterfalls and the rain forrests. You get to see the entire Island in about 1 hour 45 minutes. The pilot was excellent, funny and engaging with each guest on a first name basis pointing out all the sights below and giving a lot of history about Maui. It didn't matter which seat you were in because he circled all the hot spots so everyone had a view. This is also one of the only helicopter tours that has a 2 way radio so you can talk with the pilot. Awesome trip worth every penny!!!!!
Two things that are worth the cost of admission in Maui - whale watching (during whale season) and helicopter rides. And if youre looking at helicopter tours, BH is such a great option. Their aircraft is new, up to date and super comfortable. Their pilots (at least ours) are top notch. We were not only provided a smooth, fun and exciting flight but one that was filled with substantial and intriguing information (not just the same old boring script read from a cruise line manual). The pics on their website speak foe themselves - stunning. And the data port video take homes are so cool. My wife thought we'd never watch those things again but we've actually had a blast revisiting our trip from the comfort of our Colorado home. It was so much fun. Highly recommended!
