I was nervous about riding in a helicopter so of course I was given the outside passenger seat where all the glass is! It was worth getting over my fear as the views are spectacular. Our guide (Gernot Holl) was informative and engaging and also gave us lots of quiet time with beautiful music to soak in the scenery.
This is just an amazing experience. This tour takes you to places you cannot see from the ground. You see the old and new Hawaii from the air with an experienced Pilot. We saw waterfalls and whales. Isolated farms to abandoned plantations and what you see on Hawaii Five -0. It is not a cheap trip but it is once in a lifetime. If you are self concious about your weight be prepared you are getting weighed. Make a reservation you must have one
We absolutely loved this...my husband, 15 year old daughter and I went on a 45 minute west Maui and Molokini trip. The whole experience was wonderful-we had an amazing seat in the helo and the field of view was breathtaking. We were able to see the waterfalls in the valleys of Molokini and views of Ka'anapali and Lahaina...even some whales. Yes it was pricey...but we will never forget it. Dean was a great tour guide too
My wife and I visited Maui on a business trip in March 2016 and had the opportunity to experience Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. We were scheduled one day and it got postponed due to inclement weather, but they were able to quickly reschedule us for the next day. We were not sure what to expect as we had not previously been on a helicopter and I do sometimes get motion sickness, but we both loved it and would do it again. We were supposed to tour the Hana area but due to clouds and rain, the pilot took us over West Maui and then on to Molokai (another nearby island). While some of the tour was over open water since we had to go to Molokai, once we got there we were not disappointed. We got to see many waterfalls and incredibly blue waters off the coast. We were there during whale watching season, so our pilot even worked in some whale watching from the sky (being careful enough not to get too close to scare them away from the boaters). We were able to get some good pictures. Our only disappointment was the glare from inside the windows of the helicopter from the other passengers and the impact it had on our pictures. Each helicopter seats 6 passengers, so if you are into taking pictures and want know your fellow passengers I would suggest wearing dark colored clothing to cut down on the reflections. My company paid for this so I have no idea how much it costs, but regardless we would go up again if we were paying.
The views were stunning, and most of what we saw was impossible to see any other way. Jeremy, our pilot, was an awesome pilot and guide. He had lots of info and history on everything we saw, and entertained all the questions from my 10 year old son! The newer eco-star helicopters are very comfortable with great views and great audio equipment, so you can ask questions or point out whales as you're flying from one island to the next. It was a great time!
The 4 of us had a great time. Rick, our pilot was great. He drove so smoothly which was super because my husband get car sick. The views and waterfalls breathtaking. When we go again it will be the longer trip. Expensive but well worth it. Would definately recommend this trip and company.
Incredibly well run, our helicopter tour of Maui was on time, informative, fun and professional and focused on safety. Our pilot, Rick, filled us in on lots of Hawaiian legend and lore and entertained us with a great selection of appropriate music as we soared above Maui, its' valleys, the rain forest and its' coasts. From the front desk staff to the crew, every one was terrific.
Not a bad seat in the Eco-Star helicopter. Was pretty quiet inside and the pilot made circuits around each sight, so everyone got a good view. Saw the whole island and even some humpback whales. Got some great advice on where to eat, how to approach the Road to Hana, history and great view of Haleakala. Free coffee and tea in the waiting area.
Actually longer ago, but the so-called ranch stop set us down in a field of cow pies and we were supposed to have our drinks there. And never go with a pilot that is brand new and has to use a list to start engine and take off. We don't do chopper tours anymore.
Blue Hawaiian never fails. Heard many reviews from guests and travelers and I had to try it out. Our pilot was funny and very knowledgeable. being up in the sky made me realize just how blessed I am to be living on this beautiful island. I love the staff. Very informative and very patient. Thank you blue Hawaiian!
There are ways to see Maui and then there are helicopter rides. Breathtaking scenery. Not a keen flier but we were offered the helicopter ride. Our nervousness was overcome by the professional nature of the team at Blue Hawaiian. 'Chase' was our pilot. Great guy and he made sure we were at ease. As I said if you want to REALLY see Maui then go for a helicopter ride.
Great staff, great tour. 5&7 year olds enjoyed it and no one felt sick. It was a smooth ride even on a windy day. Pilot was very patient and knowledgeable. The kids had a lot of questions, he found many rainbows and made sure to give everyone a view. Recommend west Maui and Molokai.
Born and raise on the island of Maui, I thought I knew much of the island and its history, until I took a flight with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour. What I didn't know is there is so much more to see and learn. I now know more of my family history, 1830s dates far back to my families genealogy where they came from and where we are today. It all made sense when I took my first flight over the entire Island of Maui, and what made it more amazing the pilot knew a lot about my family and he never met them! Anyway, I've seen where it all began, little remote area's where my family first anchored off the shores back in the 1800's, and how they survived all those years for us new generations who came later. As they traveled from place to place making new villages throughout Maui that still exist today. Self sustainable system, healthy and creative, God breathed wisdom and beauty now being discovered only by air. Thank you Blue Hawaiian, you've done well. Warmest of Aloha, Mapuana
A+ for value. Pilot was professional and had incredible local island knowledge about history of the land, animals, culture and really enjoyed his audio as we flew. Of course the sights were amazing as well. We did the complete island tour with the bonus landing on a beautiful piece of land near Haleakala. Overall we were very pleased. We did the newer Eco helicopter which I recommend for viewing and comfort.
we had such a great experience and awesome flight. The Eco Star was quiet and smooth and our pilot was informative and funny. The ground staff was equally as good, friendly and helpful. We felt safe the entire time. We highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours .
