wonderful. Great pilot as well.
It was our first trip in a helicopter, and it was incredible. The views were amazing. I could just get lost in the moment. Truly a "bucket list" kind of experience.
Shay was great. Ride was wonderful. Loved seeing the island
The views of the island were beautiful. The tour was great
We had a great time on our tour! It was a fantastic way to see the most beautiful parts of the island.
It was our first helicopter ride and we enjoyed it tremendously. Our pilot Brandon was excellent and he was very personable and made sure that everyone was able to take pictures and enjoying the ride. Thank you, Annette & Devo, aloha
This tour was amazing! Rick was such a great pilot, he took us on a really nice ride and explained everything we were seeing. This was a highlight of our trip so far! Thank you!
Our pilot was Jeremy, he was informative and was very safe. He spent time at the areas where there was lava and waterfalls and gave us history on the island. A very enjoyable experience, will do it again
Tanya, Robert, Carmela and Ken thoroughly enjoyed your flight and commentary. Very informative. Amazing views. Unforgettable flight. Brody you were awesome. We will be highly recommending this to our fellow Aussie travelers.
Amazing views, great Pilot (Barrett) very knowledgeable about Hawaii and just a really nice guy! Would definitely fly with Blue Hawaii again! Well worth the money and time! Thanks again for a wonderful trip! Mary and Donna
Amazing experience and the pilot was so nice. Absolutely loved it!
I did lots of research before choosing Blue Hawaiian, and was very impressed with their safety and professionalism. What disappointed me was where they seated me on the helicopter. I had the back window seat on the left, and the pilot showed us sights primarily on the right side of the helicopter. I understand the need to balance weight for seating, but I am only 5’3” and could not see over the front seat occupants, both of who were quite tall. The height of the men in the middle seats in back prevented me from seeing out the right back window. I would have appreciated it if Mark, our pilot, had turned the craft so that I could see each sight as well. Since we were back in our car at 10:45 for a 10am tour, I think he would have had time to do this.
Overall this was a great experience but less than we expected. Naively, we expected to see flowing streams of molten lava just as shown by all the brochures from all the tour companies. We did see molten lava, but mostly black with some red. We did see lava flow into the sea but again, black and mostly obscured by steam. We did see quite a lot of red molten lava in the crater and that was definitely special. However, the helicopter seating arrangements are not equitable. The back row seats 4 persons, one at each window and 2 on the inside; I was one of the unfortunates with an inside seat. The viewing is definitely limited from these seats compared to window seats or front row seats. At U$300 per seat I expected at least an equal viewing opportunity as the other passengers. I couldn't see to my right at all because of a rather large passenger who fell asleep shortly after take-off and awoke upon landing!
If you have the extra cash and time, please take this tour. There are parts of Maui that are just too difficult to get to on foot or in a car, so the helicopter tour is the only way to go. I chose the Complete Island tour thru Blue Hawaiian's partner Hawaii Helicopters (the discounted tour). They film the helicopter tour and you can purchase it on DVD for a good price. I cannot remember the cost, but I think it was about 25 dollars. This was great and I would do it again!
great flight, white legs reflected in windows, great views comfy trip
