All the years I have visited Maui and lived here I never got to do a helicopter tour. I had no idea what I was missing! It was the experience that will stay with me, always. We did the west Maui and Molokai tour. Ryan was our pilot, great job! Found out after the tour that the pilots put together their own soundtracks. When we flew over the ridge and the Jurassic Park theme music came on, I was ready to see a dinosaur or 2! It was mesmerizing and the view were phenomenal. A totally different perspective of all my favorite places on the islands.
We reserved a morning flight in Maui, and, unfortunately it was raining. When we arrived at the office, we were told the pilots were continually checking the weather, but, no flights had gone out yet that day. We waited a few minutes and were told that West Maui was clear and we could have a seat on the next flight, but would not be able to see the entire island (the trip we booked), but, we opted for that flight. I'm so glad we did! I got to sit by the pilot, fantastic views and the clouds actually added to the beauty. Very professionally run operation, and the helicopter was awesome!
I'd been on a helicopter tour in Kauai years ago and loved it, so I expected this to be the highlight of my trip to Maui. I researched several companies and chose Blue Hawaiian based on their fine reputation. We selected the full island tour which should have given us an overview of the entire island. I had watched their videos online and loved them, but our tour didn't resemble the videos in any way. We didn't fly along Kaanapali Beach or the Hana coast at all. Mostly we stayed at a high altitude and viewed everything from a distance. Yes, we saw lots of waterfalls and lush vegetation, but not skimming the treetops like the video shows. No, we couldn't see in the crater because of clouds, but that wasn't unexpected. I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't go on a helicopter tour. I think I should have asked more questions before booking I know I would have been pleased if I'd been able to fly with the pilot who made their online videos!!!
This tour was over the top. Blue Hawaiian is such a professional organization. We even had a brand new Eco Star helicopter! We flew valleys and saw magnificent waterfalls. Our pilot, Gernot, was personable, knowledgable and made certain this would be a tour to remember! Wow is all I can say!
We did this in conjunction with a drive back from Hana through Temptation Tours. It is very expensive but may be our only trip to Maui so we booked it and are so glad we did. Our pilot Chase was friendly, knowledgable and cautious. I will never forget seeing the cluster of waterfalls that our pilot had never seen a human around. You only live once!!!!
This company is outstanding and the tours you can take are great. We went on the full island tour and the captain was well educated and very professional. Our flight was to touch down at the ranch but because of the weather conditions, we just went on the rest of the tour. SAFETY first and Blue Hawaiian does practice this.
We were quite disappointed by the lack of "Aloha" spirit shown by the staff. Everyone seemed to be put upon by the customers. They were quite busy, but one would think that would make them happy. Our pilot on the other hand was amazing! He was friendly and informative and funny.
I went on the West Maui and Molokai trip and it was fantastic. The trip was easy to book and the staff was very helpful in giving us directions the the heliport when we got lost. The check in process is simple and they are very efficient getting you on to the helicopter. Our pilot, Chris, was very informative and entertained us along the way, too! The views were amazing and it was an overall fantastic experience. I definitely recommend a trip!
The trip was awesome, the flights were smooth, and the crew was awesome, would highly recommend it to anyone and would do it again?
We had a great day to see West Maui and Molokai. There was alittle bit of turbulence, but our pilot Glenda handled it very well. Definitely worth the cost!
We had the best pilot ever. Her name was Katie and she was terrific. We saw the best views of the entire island. Katie was very knowledgable and shared with us some very interesting facts. We saw a volcano, waterfalls and beautiful views. I am super excited to have done this - it was definitely out of our comfort zone but it was the awesome. I would totally recommend to anyone that could to do this. I felt very safe and entertained the entire time and we have a video of the scenes as well as audio.
We booked to do the Hana Rainforest & Haleakala Volcano Helicopter Tour in an Eco-Star helicopter. On arrival we were advised that weather conditions over Haleakala meant this wasn't feasible. The staff handled this in a very professional manner and offered us the choice of rescheduling, a tour of West Maui and Molokai or a full refund. We went with the alternative tour and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The scenery was spectacular and the helicopter was comfortable and offered terrific viewability. Highly recommended.
Took the Hana / Haleakala tour and it was worth the cost. The weather broke for us so we got see everything on the tour. We booked on the Eco-Star and it was comfortable, lots of visibility as advertised and our pilot (Peter (from South Africa) was most informative while keeping the bird on a steady flight pattern. When booking ask for the front seats (there are 2), no guarantees as they distribute the passengers by weight, but nothing ventured nothing gained. Front seat visibility was excellent. Gratuity is up to each passenger, we didn't pay and I think most don't as it is a pricey ride. Most guests I think would drive to the heliport (or taxi) and I'm not sure if public transportation is available, I think not. There is a charge for parking (not expensive.)
After checking out all the helicopter companies ( at the heli airport) we chose Blue Hawaiian for their rates and customer service. where you sit in the helicopter is done by computer according to weight. You can choose from 2 types of helicopters. Ours held 6 guests plus the pilot. if you are going as a couple one will have a window seat. We were lucky enough to get the front seats. The vews are amazing. The ride soft.. You can buy your trip's video showing yourself of your actual trip if you choose to spend $50American. I would save up and do it again.
WOW!!!!! Breathtaking! Tim was great! Seeing Maui in a completely different view. This is a must do! You will not regret it.
