Hilo lava and falls tour. Most reputable helicopter company and very friendly. Hope for a window seat!

Carl says "We're gonna set her down right over there" I say "where, all I see is a cliff" then the Jurassic park music begins as we head straight for the base of a cliff. in behind the trees there is a little flat spot no bigger than 2x the rotor and down we go. Landing at the base of a huge waterfall and 100' from a picnic area overlooking 30' waves pounding the north coast. We lucked out and had a perfect sunny day, Carl said the wind was 30 knots and the waves reflected that but you'd never have known that as we ducked in and out of valleys over and down cliffs and seascapes. A helicopter tour may seem like a lot of $$$$ but it was SOOOOO worth it..... Awesome experience.

We had a somewhat bumpy experience on our boat trip to Napali Coast the day before due to the high waters in winter on the Kauai coastlines, and were somewhat apprehensive about our helicopter ride, however we really loved our flight on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters with their Eco-star helicopter tour. Mark was our pilot and he was so good at explaining all the sights we saw during our flight. The helicopter can sit 6 people and Blue Hawaiian was kind enough to accomodate for our desire to put us on the front row sits on the right hand side of the helicopter (so that we can see the Napali coast line as we fly over it, clockwise). The ride was very smooth, though there can be a few bumpy parts due to strong winds, but overall we felt very safe. We didn't want the doors off experience and wanted the safest ride possible and we were really happy with what this company offered us. It is about a 55-min ride from start to end, and we saw the most dramatic sights of the island (Waimean Canyon & Waterfalls, Jurassic Waterfalls, Napali Coastline, The wettest spot on earth, etc) starting from the East Shore all the way around the South, West & North Shores. They give you a headset so you can listen to the pilot & there is a microphone that you can pass around to talk directly to the pilot and ask questions if needed, though I would recommend not to use it all the time so as not to distract the pilot constantly. The check-in experience was somewhat generic and the staff was OK. You will go thru a 15-20-min video presentation of the flight experience & safety measures, and you can use the restrooms prior to your flight. Also make sure to wear dark clothes (black, dark grey or dark blue) so that they don't cast reflections for the pilot. They operate at least 4 helicopters as far as I could see. We picked the 11am flight as we were told it is a good time to see most places and get good visibility for the season we were flying (winter). Overall, we couldn't be happier with our experience with Blue Hawaiian and highly recommend them. It is somewhat pricey but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the beauty of this magestic island from above. Some people recommend to take that helicopter ride early during your stay, yet we felt it was so much better of an experience to take the ride half-way through our stay as you already have an idea of the place from the ground and get to fully enjoy it from above! There are many other companies to take the helicopter ride from, but we felt that we wanted the safest option to fly on and The big ecostar helicopters were the safest in our opinion. This place was also really close to where we were staying on the East Shore, next to Lihue Airport, so it was really convenient for us. All in all, it was pure magic & bliss to fly over such an amazing paradise on earth!

Tony provided an excellent narration to a terrific flight over Kauai. The experience was amazing. Only one thing the guy in front seat alongside pilot was not wearing dark colours as advised this should be compulsory as his reflection was in a lot of my photos.....great shame and very annoying! Would love to do it all again!!

Simply fantastic. A must do in Kauai if you don't want to miss the most beautiful landscapes.
