Pilot was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the tour and the musical soundtrack but wouldn't have minded the Jurrasic Park theme thrown in somewhere haha! Beautiful way to spend an hour and get a different perspective of the islands.
You have not seen Hawaii until you have seen it with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. From the time we arrived at the Heliport, to the time we exited, the staff went above and beyond our expectations. The views from these spacious Helicopters, and the knowledgeable pilot made this the best part of our trip. Thanks guys
As you can see from the title, heights are not my thing. Once you get up in the air, you don't even feel like you're moving. I would have kicked myself for not trying this. My wife and I rode with a lovely family from Australia. Our pilot, Justin, was very knowledgeable, and was able to give us points on how and when to see the things we were flying over. He even gave us an additional 10 minutes in flight because he is so into what he does- which is flying helicopters. If you're afraid of fatalities- I did the research, which you can too. In 15 years, they estimate a total of 50,000 flights on the islands with 10 crashes. That's 1 in every 5000. You have a greater chance of getting into a car accident on your way TO the attraction. Blue Hawaiian was also the top rated helicopter tour place form what I could see on the internet. Also, for an extra $25, you can get the DVD of your tour. It's worth the money. Go another $10 over that and you get a tour of 4 islands that you can watch so you can plan your next trip over.
We toured West Maui and Molokai and the views are one of a kind spectacular. Although I'm not a fan of airplanes, heights, etc. and was a little nervous our pilot Ryan put me right at ease. He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and clearly loves what he does which made the tour that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian and plan to tour with them again on my next visit.
I highly recommend the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour. This was something my husband wanted to do so I went along. I really didn't have a desire to go and thought it would be an expensive excursion and not sure it was worth the money. Well let me just say it was spectacular. Maui it gorgeous but seeing it from the air gives you a whole new perspective on the island. The waterfalls, the farming, the valleys... just gorgeous. The whole experience from the office (very clean and professional) to the music on the helicopter was first class. Our pilot was and he was so nice and knowledgeable. They give you a mike so you can ask questions which was unexpected. Let me just say I was smiling from ear to ear the whole time I was in the helicopter. It was amazing. They do offer you a CD of the trip (but don't push it on you at all) for $26. Considering we have "swam with the dolphins" on other vacations and they was $100 for that video this was a steal. If you have the extra money to spend I would do this.
We did the “full island tour”, which I found very enjoyable. The clouds around Haleakala cleared enough to see the observatory; lots of waterfalls; flying into the valley and seeing Honokohau waterfall (I think) was very exciting. The “flying through the mountains/valleys” was what made the price worth it for me. Pilot was informative, friendly, and very receptive to questions.
We flew over West Maui and Molokai and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever done! I've flown a helicopter over Grand Canyon and New York City but this was the most beautiful! You can't beat flying in between the totally green mountains of west Maui! The company is very professional and the staff and pilot was very friendly and made us feel very well taken care of! We bought a usb stick with our flight but when we returned to Sweden it was empty! I contacted them of course and they will send us a new one by mail! Thank you so much for that! You will not regret taking a tour with this company - it's a must when visiting any of the Hawaiian island!
I was a little anxious about booking this because I am claustrophobic, but I am so glad I booked this. Smooth ride and our pilot Mark was very knowledgeable. Be prepared to be blown away by the gorgeous views and scenery!!! The take off and landing were so much smoother then riding in an airplane. I would definitely do this again!! Oh, and for the 40 bucks its worth buying a cd of your personal trip!! Thank you again Blue Hawaiian for the awesome experience!!!
6 friends hired the helicopter for a full island tour although it was only 65 minutes we loved every minute of it. We were on a cruise but decided to book this ourselves as it was quite a bit cheaper this was. We got a taxi from the ship there and back no problem booked the trip for 2pm so if there was any problems we had time to get back. Rick was our Pilot and he was excellent knowledgeable and attentative. We all had good views which I was worried about but no one had any problems. If however you buy the DVD you will not be seen if directly behind the font seat passenger which was a shame for my hubby but bought it anyway. Wish I had asked for the trip to be on USB due to DVD not working on my home DVD in England - still worked on Laptop though. A great adventure that none of us 6 had done before loved it.
We were in Maui for 9 days and attempted to choose, what we thought was good weather days for our excursions. We found out the hard way that this is not always predictable. The day we went there were threatening storm clouds and we saw a full rainbow on the way to the airport. Once we got in the helicopter the seats were comfortable and the headphones did their job well. Biggest disappointment was that it rained (hard to get any good shots with water on the windshields). Also, because the cloud level was low, could not see the top of the mountains, just clouds. Narration was boring. I was not expecting much since I was aware that the helicopter tours were much more interesting and breathtaking on the Big Island and Kauai, but even so, quite disappointed in what we saw. Just glad we didn't opt for the more expensive and longer tours. We took the west Maui, Molokai tour, 45-50 min. It was a very professionally run operation, and my husband preferred a newer and more comfortable conveyance over price considerations. Took a lot of pictures, but deleted about a third, due to poor weather. Probably would NOT recommend unless clear weather. Too pricey for mediocre experience.
Wow what a flight what a helicopter smooth and fabulous. Flew to Hana with a van trip back with several stops along the way. Way more fun that driving our self as have done in past.
Rick was awesome!! He was entertaining and had so much information to share with us. It truly was the experience of a lifetime!! I highly recommend these tours, well worth it. We did the 90 minute tour with landing.
So this was my first helicopter tour ever. I was so nervous. But the staff at Blue Hawaiian made the experience an unforgettable one. Marco was our pilot. What a smooth ride. And he was so great with giving us fun facts & showing us beautiful view of the waterfalls. Total bonus to this experience. That the whole experience is choreographed to music. When you enter the helicopter they play fly me to the moon. Then at take off as you begin to go up, they play the James Bond theme. What a great way to calm down a nervous flyer by making them feel totally fierce! As we looked at waterfalls the played calming music like Enya & then when they flew over the ocean & smoothly tilted the helicopter to make a rainbow over the water. They played Somewhere over the rainbow. Bottom line, these people know what they are doing. It really should be called helicopter theater! A truly spectacular experience.
Amazing View & Great Pilot! Such a great experience would love to do it again! We got to see over everything & gorgeous views of the many waterfalls you are only able to see from hiking and from the sky!
My husband and I plus a friend did the West Maui and Molokai tour. It was my first time in a helicopter so I wasn't sure what to expect. Our helicopter sat 7 adults total (6 guests plus the pilot). I had read some reviews that if you are in the back middle seat, your views aren't as good so I was skeptical. The seating was arranged by their "computer" based on everyone's weight so I was actually placed in one of the middle back seats with my husband next to me at the window. Our friend had front middle seat (the best seat!). My views were still phenomenal and I had an amazing time! Our weather was good for the most part except for some mild rain and clouds at some point but nothing I can complain about. The pilot was friendly and I felt safe the entire time. I would definitely recommend doing a helicopter tour while on Maui!!
