Despite that we had to return to base before we saw any lava, I give them the highest reviews. Highly professional crew, brand new helicopters and the full refund due to the aborted mission was handled promptly.
This is an excellent attraction. It is fascinating to be able to see the recent volcanic activity on the Big Island. There were six of us on the helicopter and every one could see. The pilot we had would go in one direction and then circle around to the other direction making sure we got the pictures we wanted. This was a 'once in a lifetime flight!'
We've done the Volcano tour. The Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Team has been extremely friendly and motivated. Reservation, check-in, safety introduction and division in groups was very quick and professional. We flew with an Eco helicopter and this was perfect! Perfect view and only few noises. Our pilot Darren was fantastic!! He told us much about the landscape, Kilauea and the people who are unfortunately affected by the activities of the volcano. He made sure, that every passenger can see the lava. The balance between getting close to the lava and feeling safe was perfect. He was still so entusiastic about this area and the ongoing eruption although he has done this tour already for months. We've seen bubbling lava and the lava flow - it was so impressive, fantastic, amazing! For us, this flight was one of the most impressive things we've ever done. The Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Team and especially Darren made it a perfect flight! Thanks!!
Blue Hawaiian's Heli ride out from Hilo to see the flowing lava on big Island is definitely once in a life-time experience! I have been totally awed by Mother Nature (or we should say Lady Pele)!!! I booked with BH a couple days before by phone and it was pretty easy reservation, no prob w/ check-in etc. at all. The pilot/guide, Tim, was very knowledgeable and considerated in making sure everyone get to see the magnificence from the best angle possible. What we got to see was so awesome that it was almost unreal. Only downside I could think of would be the quite narrow seats, it was an A-star so space was a bit tight, don't bring anything except camera & sunglasses. But it's only a 45-min flight! Anyone got a chance should TOTALLY DO IT.
Wasn’t bad but def not worth the hype and $$. It felt very corporate/mechanical and we didn’t feel it was a must do. Unfortunately, the lava walks were not available or we would have done one of those. We got some nice pics but this was nowhere close to some other places we visited on big island.
felt totally safe on the 2 hour volcano/waterfall tour. all companies close in price but we recommend Blue Hawaiian...
Brody was an excellent tour guide and pilot! He was very informative! We enjoyed this tour very much, and will definitely recommend this to all our friends! Again,,, awesome!
Great experience. Don't forget to wear dark clothes to avoid the glare in the pictures
The tour was amazing! The tour guides were all excellent and the experience was great!
It was very fun and exciting. Our tour guide Rick was great!
Brian, We had a great time and I am sure we made memories together to last us a lifetime. Thanks for keeping us safe and sharing your passion for the island. Best Wishes, The Yoda Famiy
Brody was our pilot today, he was exceptional, his Hawaiian heritage and compassion and loyalty to his ohana and island was amazing. Brody make us feel at home andcomfortable in his rig. We learned so much about the island and we will back. Kauai is ounew favorite island. After being raised on Oahu our entire lives we have new respect for Kauai and it's people. Mahalo Brody and Blue Hawaiian Helicopter /The Blackman/Bonawitz group
We are both very pleased with our pilot and the tour itself. Wonderful scenery, probably the most beautiful we have both ever seen. And to see it in another point of view is something we couldn't imagine before. The star of the show was our pilot Brandon, who showed us the whole island and interesting spots. We can tell he has been doing this for a long time. So a warm thank you to Brandon and the Blue Hawaiian helicopter for the experience Best regards Rawand & Nadine
Great views of fissure 8. Because of the large amount of activity going on with the lava, I would have rather spent all the time in that area and forgone the waterfall.
Brody was awesome you live and work in heaven see you soon
