It was absolutely amazing! 10 out of 10 would do it all over again! Staff is amazing as well as the pilot especially Derek.
What an amazing tour! From the pilot, to the views, to the music, everything was incredible. Perfect way to see Kauai!
Awesome tour. Greg was great and included so much information on our tour. I loved that we got to see so many iconic spots.
We flew over the volcano and could see pretty well everything. But in direct comparison with Safari Helicopters that we used in Kauai we felt like mass tourists. Pilot was bored and one could see that is was just another trip in his working day. Also the instructions in the beginning were with no heart. Just technical and advertising.
Our trip was over the Volcano Fisher 8 during its very impressive activity. Our pilot was very informative and easy to talk with. At no point did I feel any concern.
I don't know what this tour is like during normal times, but do you really want to go all the way to the Big Island and not literally watch Creation in progress? I was on Hawaii for a business conference, and I didn't do my homework, assuming there was somewhere I could drive to see lava, like I did last time I was there. This turned out to not be true. The only ways you can see lava are from a boat or helicopter. Luckily, we managed to find and open slot just before our flight home. Don't make our mistake: book before you go! We paid a bit extra for the "Eco-star" helicopter, which has much more window area, and I'm glad we did. There are two seats up front with the pilot and four in back. They assign seats based on weight balancing, so there's no awkward jockeying for position. My wife had the window seat, and I was next to her in the middle, but the views are great from every seat, and pilot always passed everything worth seeing in both directions, so both sides could get a good view. The helicopter looked brand new and had excellent air conditioning. That's good news for anyone prone to air sickness, but at least on our flight, no one had a problem, because the ride was smooth as glass. Seriously, it felt like we were riding in a mini-van. My wife was a little nervous about the whole thing, but calmed down as soon as we took off. We headed for "fissure #8", which at the time of this writing is the most active eruption. As we got closer, the pilot gave the history of the eruption and the destruction of the town. We flew right over the fissure, where rules require them to stay at at least 3000 feet. The view was still amazing, but if I had it to do over again, I'd bring binoculars. He circled the eruption twice in each direction, so everyone got a good view and plenty of pictures (which don't do it justice). We then followed the lava flow to the ocean. It looks like an old lava field, but then you realize it's moving - fast! At the shoreline, we were able to go down to 1000 feet and watch the lava going into the ocean. Before going back to the airport, he took us by some waterfalls, where he was able to go much lower to give us a good view. The pilot was very friendly and very knowledgeable throughout. He made a point to remind that as amazing as it was, we should remember that a lot of people have lost everything. All in all, a truly amazing experience. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
We took the trip over fissure 8. Seeing the eruption was a once in a lifetime experience and this did not disappoint. The view from a helicopter is the best way to see the lava flows. The pilot Casey was a great guide and we felt safe the whole time. The only downside was the video we purchased. The quality was not good, and it was a fixed camera so it missed a lot when the copter was ovine around.
My husband and I booked the volcano tour for our honeymoon. The volcano is currently very active by Fissure 8 and it was an unbelievable experience to see the devastation the lava flow has caused and see the power of an active volcano. Our pilot was extremely professional and gave us an amazing experience! I would definitely recommend this if you are in Hilo!
Our experience with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was outstanding and unforgettable! The website was very informative, the staff was helpful, professional and kind, calling the day before to confirm and offer reminders and suggestions for the best experience, and the flight crew and pilot was outstanding. Adi, our pilot ensured our trip was breathtaking while ensuring our safety. This trip was well worth the money and this company is the best. A must do on your vacation, memories are made here!
I went with 3 of my kids (age range: 10-16). My wife and my oldest child stayed behind. The four of really wanted to go on the ride, even though we were a little apprehensive about riding in a helicopter. We researched it extensively and Blue Hawaiian is the best provider of these flights -- it was worth every penny. We had an incredible experience flying over Kauai. BH was incredibly professional. We had never been in a helicopter before and felt completely comfortable once we were on board -- there were no sudden jerks, no scary moments, no time during the 55 minute flight that we sensed anything out of control...and we got to see several parts of the island that can only be seen by air. I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian to anyone going to Kauai for a view of this beautiful island that is one of a kind.
This was the best thing I did in Hawaii on the island of Kauai I recommend it to everybody to do ,the scenery was just out of this world, and the commentary and pilot were very good. When the flight was over I could have done it all over again
My fiancee and I were hesitant to do this in the weeks leading up to our trip judging from the cost but decided to splurge as it was our honeymoon. There was a ~10 minute safety video before the flight per safety requirements and a few minutes wait as the previous tour landed and deboarded and the helicopter refueled - all in all the whole process was a little over 90 minutes. Compared to a sunset dinner/snorkel cruise we took to the Na Pali coast the day before, the views from the aircraft were surreal, nothing that could compare from the boat at sea level. Plus, you get to see all parts of the island so it may be smart to plan this early in your Kauai stay so you can get a better sense of what you'd like to visit over the rest of your stay. We learned of numerous hiking trails that led to very scenic spots, the 80+ movies shot on the island, and the dozens of pristine waterfalls. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great tour of Kauai! Our group of 12 family members loved this trip. Some of the family members were very nervous about going, but everyone went and was surprised at how much they enjoyed the tour!
The best way to view Kauai! Ryan, our pilot was awesome with his narration and music set to the tour. Our whole family agrees it’s the best way to view the island! The video was an incredible keep sake.
This was one of the highlights of our trip. Our pilot, Beth, was great. Our teenage daughter was thoroughly impressed we got the female pilot, who told us she was following in her Grandmother's footsteps - also a pilot. Cool. The tour itself was beyond words. And Blue Hawaiians soundtrack perfectly captured the mood at every new vista. So much so that we were all humming the Jurassic Park theme for the rest of our trip and we downloaded and watched it that evening!
