Our helicopter tour with our pilot Barrett was one of the highlights of our trip. The views were stunning and Barrett was amazing. He made all of us feel comfortable and told us so much about the history of Kauai..... my favorite fact was that Barrett was The Rock’s body double on the last film made there.....yea.....we believed that Barrett!! He was very amusing!
Being from Hawaii, sometimes we can become accustomed to the beauty that surrounds us everyday. Taking a tour in a Helicopter is not something people even think to do...but they should! Seeing Oahu from the air with Blue Hawaiian has given me a lasting impression and new found awe of an island that I have lived on for most of my life. They have an excellent safety rating and use modern helicopters that feature individual seats and Bose headsets. As an aviation enthusiast and student pilot, I can say that most people in the aviation industry will agree that Blue Hawaiian is among the best air tour operators in the state.
My family voted to take this helicopter tour to see Maui. 65 minutes of terror for me and sheer joy for them! We were 5 passengers each equipped with cameras. I was in the front seat with the pilot and enjoyed seeing everything from up high, but admittedly got very quiet towards the end when the pilot did this 360, so my family in the back could see the valley up close just below the line of clouds. I would strongly recommend this tour. Just remember to bring your Dramamine and Sea Bands!
On a morning when 7 helicopters took off, only two made it past the clouds to see the lava and the rest returned. We were amazed by our trip. Our pilot Shawn got us close to the lava, circled making tight turns to help all 6 on the helicopter see the brilliant sites. In this case the tight turns are a complement, no one complained of it being rough. When we landed, we learned that the other helicopter that made it up wasn't happy with the amount they were able to see. I highly recommend this tour, choosing the eco star helicopters, and if you can request Shawn as the pilot. Great trip.
Mark was fantastic: very knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you everyone who helped make our honeymoon treat so wonderful!
Had a scheduled flight to see the volcano on the Big Island. We arrived on the gate, watch the instruction video /presentation and had no idea there was any issue with our flight. When we were assembled getting ready to board, we were informed that our helicopter was grounded due to mechanical issues. It would of been nice to find out earlier or a notification that there may be issues with our flight. This would of made it easier to adjust our schedule. At that point we had checked out of our hotel and we would not of done that if we thought there might be an issue with our flight. The agent was very helpful and apologized for our problem, she helped with our cancellation to the travel company that we booked it with. We have used Blue Hawaiian before and never had a issue. I guess the good News is we were not on the aircraft with a mechanical issue.
We had book the 2 hour volcano and waterfall tour. Unfortunately, the volcano had created an unfriendly atmosphere that early morning with heavy rain, poor visibility and possible lightening so they hd to cancel that part of the tour, We were so bummed but would rather be safe. They offered to reschedule us or take us on the shorter tour of just the waterfalls. Since it was our last day on the island we opted for the waterfalls. They were amazing!!! Our pilot, Sean, was a former Black Hawk pilot who had served our country. He gave us a smooth breathtaking flight with many close-ups. The crew was very knowledgable and treated us all with respect. Well worth the $$$
This was my first time in a helicopter and I can say that Blue Hawaii was a home run experience. We arrived early, and their facility was large and had a lot of places to sit and relax before getting in the helicopter. Complimentary coffee and lemon water was provided, which was a nice touch. The safety briefing was thorough and I felt confident in the safety of the helicopter before setting foot on the runway. Blaring the helicopter was equally nice, with ground crew helping me into the helicopter and then making sure my harness was properly secured. Our pilot, Geoffrey, was professional, knowledgeable, funny, and experienced. I was completely confident in his skills and during our flight he gave us useful insights about the island and the things we were looking at. Music was also played to be in line with what we were seeing which was a nice touch, with the Jurassic Park theme playing while we were looking at Jurassic Falls. Upon landing, we were escorted to a safe distance where a member of the ground crew took a picture of my family in front of the helicopter. Upon reentering the office area, a video made during our flight was already playing, with the views of the flight as well as cockpit views of our reactions, all with music playing over the top. This was a completely enjoyable and stress free experience and I can see myself going on many more helicopter rides like this in the future.
