I had never flown on a helicopter before, but I was eager to have this experience while we were in Hilo. After our safety briefing, Wesley, our wonderful pilot, gave us a good 50-minute tour including the coastline north to Onomea Bay with its beautiful waterfall and then south to the lava fields around Fissure 8. We took the Eco-Star helicopter tour and loved having the large windows and individual seats. There are 2 passenger seats in front and 4 in the back with the seat assignments given out as you board the helicopter based on weight distribution, so you won’t know until then if you will have a window seat. I was lucky enough to get one of those and wore dark-colored clothes as they suggested. However, my arm and hands still reflected off the windows in some of my pictures which was frustrating. I would highly recommend this experience, and you don’t need to be nervous about it at all!

We went on a West Maui/Molokai tour and it was great! Schedule your helicopter tour early during your vacation, so that if the weather doesn't cooperate you can still get your tour in. Our first trip up was cancelled because of clouds and I'm so glad that we rescheduled on a good day. I would have hated to have missed it. There are so many things that you can see from the air that you would otherwise miss. We were the last trip up for the day for our pilot, so he seemed a little lackluster, but he still gave a pretty good running commentary and turned the helicopter so that everyone got a chance to see the water falls, canyons, etc. Everyone at Blue Hawaiian was very professional and friendly and the trip was very safe!

Out of all the excursions we went on and participated in while in Kauai, which we did a lot, our Blue Hawaiian helicopter ride with Greg was everyone’s favorite by far! Excellent pilot and guide. Greg had a sense of humor, was relaxed which helped me relax and you could just tell he loved the island he was sharing with us. The scenery was spectacular!! We purchased the video they offer of you and your tour and I’m so glad we did. We’ve enjoyed reliving the experience and sharing it with others. Highly recommend this up close, thrilling, and beautiful helicopter ride!

Wonderful flight with unique view of the island - some places can only be seen by air! Loved the personalized commentary and the opportunity to buy a digital version of your trip so you can re-live the experience.

Our family of 5 reserved an early morning tour. Took a few of us to find the location even with google maps. Staff helpful and orientation thorough. Our pilot Loren was great. A bit on the dry humor side which fit perfectly with our group. The scenery was even better than I imagined. Liked that we had done some hiking and driving around for a few days prior to the helicopter ride as the perspective from above was more memorable. Well worth the price.

The entire process of booking, checking in, and flying was very well done. At the checkin counter, Noel too exceptional care with us and made our experience better than expected. Our pilot, Ethan was full of great information about the recent lava flows and the helicopter was in excellent condition. Very comfortable seats and headphones. We were on the Eco-Star helicopter and it had plenty of room, low noise, and nice big windows. We would highly recommend Blue Hawaiian for your helicopter experience in Hilo.

Not to be missed. The captain played Ride of the Valkyries as we took off and it just got better from there. We flew up the coast and around to the recent lave flow. Very informative and very fun flying - yes it was my 1st helicopter ride. We then went a bit south of Hilo to a few water falls. It felt like we were flying so slow but I asked and he said we were doing 120 mph. Felt like 10.

What an awesome experience! I could tell a few folks including ourselves were a bit uneasy having never been on a helicopter. Once we took off it was a very smooth ride and we never felt sick or scared. The ride was unbelievable. Also, enjoy the entire trip not just the volcano and waterfalls. This is your chance to float above the earth and enjoy the views. This is in no way scary. It is unbelievable. We will definitely do this again.
