We did the 45 min helicopter flight with Makani today. We did the 8am flight. They picked us up on time from our hotel and showed the safety video en route. Explained that doors off you can take a camera or phone (with a strap, which they can loan). Lockers are available for $1 (in quarters) for any other belongings. The weather was a little inclement and we had not packed jackets. They kindly offered jackets as we were doing the doors off flight. Our pilot was Doug. He was excellent as was our driver/flight preparation man (sorry,can't remember name). I haven't used any of the other helicopter operators so I can't compare but Makani were excellent, professional and safety comes first. Highly recommended. Also, the price we paid via hotel concierge was it, no hidden extra fees or plus tax. Round trip transfers were included.

My Husband and I did the 50 minute doors off helicopter experience this past week on our honeymoon and loved it! Our pilot was Jim and he was so fun and enthusiastic. Jim looks like TC and the copter was very Magnum PI! We paid a bit more for the premium seating in the front row and we're happy with our choice as the back row chairs didn't look as comfy. Overall, a great way to see the Island and we had a blast with Jim!

I had several hours layover in Honolulu a couple days ago and had heard about the Doors Off tour from a friend. Schedule matched so I booked an afternoon flight! As I arrived direct from the airport the friendly people at the office helped me store my hand luggage for the duration of the flight and showed a brief safety video while I was waiting for the other passenger to arrive. Our pilot was Jim and I really liked his style of casually talking through everything that was about to happen during the flight - just enough serious when needed and plenty of humor. The doors off experience was really cool, I must have grinned ear-to-ear for most of the flight - I know the guy on the other side of the chopper did! The flight took us around most of the island with really good visibility to the sights. After the flight I got the complimentary shuttle to Waikiki to spend the rest of my layover before continuing onwards with my trip. This was definitely an experience worth the cost, I highly recommend!

Service was great and everyone was friendly. Our pilot, Rhonda, really knows her stuff and got us back to Maui safely, avoiding an incoming storm and the tail wind of a 737 upon landing. The only criticism I have is the absence of soap and water and a little elbow grease on the interior of the planes. They are pretty dirty. Otherwise, the flights were great.

My 13 year old daughter and I booked the short tour round Honolulu and Diamond Head...it was her first ever helicopter flight and she was completely blown away by it. We had an excellent pilot called Mory...ex apache gunship pilot...what a dude!!! He was calm professional and friendly, even when it got bumpy he was soooooo laid back..you couldnt help but feel completely calm and have total trust in his skills. It was an excellent flight and we saw so much. Would do it again in a heartbeat...not to be missed worth every cent :-)

We had a wonderful flight all around Oahu for an hour. Our pilot Margot was informative , humorous and very personable. The scenery was spectacular and the flight was fun. highly recommend this to anyone visiting Hawaii.

Three of us did a doors off helicopter flight around Oahu. We all love rides and are ok with heights but this was so much more exhilarating, exciting, scary and amazing than anything I have ever done before! Our pilot Jeff was fantastic. He was entertaining and knowledgeable and made sure each of us enjoyed the flight. The views of Oahu were beautiful and Jeff made sure we had plenty of opportunities to get photos. We had so much more than a scenic tour and it was well worth every dollar. When we landed, we couldn't stop talking about the flight! For the rest of the day we were on such a high from the adrenaline. For me, it was one of the highlights of the trip. If you're looking for a little adventure and want to get the heart pumping, do it!

This is a fantastic hour tour all around the Island of Oahu. I highly recommend to Sacred Falls Tour. It is worth the expense and you will see many sights that would take several hours of driving and expense of a rental car or guided tour bus/limo. Perfect for the traveler that appreciates an overview of the Island before venturing out on your own.

J'ai choisi de faire le tour de l'île complet, qui dure 1h et je ne regrette pas! Certes, le prix est élevé, mais c'est de l'argent bien dépensé! Les vues sont simplement incroyables! On peut voir presque toutes les plus belles plages d'Oahu, mais aussi la vallée Kaaawa où a été tourné Jurassic Park, les champs d'ananas, ou d'éoliennes, et les Sacred Falls, cascade fine et mais haute. J'ai particulièrement aimé les montagnes, je trouve qu'elles ont des formes uniques et superbes. Même en souffrant encore fortement du jet lag, j'ai adoré cette expérience! De plus Makani Kai offre une navette entre Waikiki et l'aéroport, c'est très pratique.

Huge shout out to Jeff our pilot for our doors off helicopter tour of Oahu today. What an experience and with Jeff's awesome flying skills made the trip all the better. Loved your zip lining over the mountains the birds eye view of Sacred Falls, Gilligans Island, Pearl Harbour just to name a few. Definitely add this to the top of your list of things to do if visiting Oahu and request Jeff as your pilot. He was fun and clearly loves what he does. Hope you got your tip we left for you! This was 30 mins scenic flight in the helicopter over Honolulu, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Koko Crater to Lanikai beach and back over Pearl Harbor. The flight was nice and smooth and the pilot was knowledgeable. Have to say that 30 mins is not enough though, next time have to do doors off and 60 mins.

The best way to see Oahu without any doubt. The whole experience was awesome - I highly recommend paying the extra for the front seats as the view is spectacular. Our pilot Marley was the best - good fun and really gave you a great tour. I would do this again anytime - from hotel pickup to drop off the whole experience was perfect. Thanks.

Sometimes it's hard to choose the right tour/tour operator when they all seem to offer the same packages. Faced with this choice, two things swung our decision, (1) a recent Trip Advisor (2015) Award and (2) knowing that TV Executives chose this operator to film a major TV series, namely Hawaii 5-0. Well from the minute we were collected, FOC from our hotel to the return journey, this was a great experience! This wasn't just about the flight, which was exhilarating in its own right, but about the total service. Attention to detail, considerate & polite, health & safety focused, but real characters working to make the whole experience something to remember. From our experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining pilot, Doug to all the individual ground crew team (too many to name individually), there wasn't one criticism of the service and many plaudits for the fun yet safe time we had. Nothing was too much trouble and as a consequence we were left with a feeling of complete 100% satisfaction with every element of this experience. So with that in mind, I have no hesitation in recommending this operator. If you're looking for something memorable for your tour, you won't go far wrong in chosing Makani Kai Helicoptor tours to give you a complete experience, not just a flight! Thanks Guys! Had 30 min flight that cover good part of the coastline volcano craters and finally pearl harbour . Excellent pilot very smooth ride for my first time in one never felt sick at all . All in all a must do trip only down side was video they made of trip didn't come out but gave a free promotional DVD free of charge instead .
