The tour was great. the company was really good. the pilot was knowledgeable. we saw so many water falls that it was amazing!

It's was our 3rd trip to the Big Island. I thought I had seen all major scenic points of the island and decided to check out the Kohala coast. Well... I was in for a surprise that exceeded all my expectations. I first noticed Blue Hawaiian Helicopters advertised at the KOA airport. Of course it looked awesome and you don't always get what is being advertised. I can tell you now that the experience is much above and beyond what any video or image can capture. Experience: Memories that will last you a lifetime! The flight was amazing. The views were unbelievable, so gorgeous. The helicopter, pilot and land crew were all very professional, confident and friendly. When my friends saw the images, they thought it was Kauai... Some tips: When deciding when to go, call up Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour to see availability then choose a date when the Kohala coast will be sunny. Get there early, that increases your chance to be able to get the front seats. There are 2 front seats next to the pilot and 4 back seats. Their computer calculates the load balancing (positional seating) of the guests in the copter but they will keep couples together. While I enjoyed the tour from the front seats, the guests on the back row seemed to equally enjoy the trip. The company does sell videos with audio if you'd like to see what their multiple cameras captured during your own flight. You can also take pictures and videos with your own devices if you are happy with those (as I did). At the end of the trip you can quickly look a the quality you recorded and compare to the quality they offer when played back on their monitor. I would certainly go back for more flying with them based on the weather and price of the tour.

I can’t say enough about this tour. It was unbelievable and worth the time and money!! MUST DO. Pilot Greg was the best. Very safety conscious as was the whole team. You can tell they put safety first!

I've been on Blue Hawaiian Helicopters previously and both times they have been excellent experiences. They start you off with a safety video then put you into seats assigned primarily for the best weight distribution. Matt was our pilot. Everyone was very friendly. This location was 5 minutes from our Hilton resort. It helps if you wear black clothing to cut down on the reflections when taking photos through the windows. Depending on the position of the helicopter you may have to wait for the right shots. Matt was very good about moving the aircraft around so everyone could take photos. They make a video of your flight that you can purchase when you get back (for about $60). It's a good memory. Moving your camera (I used my Samsung S10+ for my camera and it worked great) around near the glass to find a good reflection free shot also helps. I found the closer to the glass I held my camera the better. Matt explains a lot to you and you use the hand held microphones to ask questions and communicate with him (and others) when flying. This is a great adventure. I got some good photos which are now hanging on my wall at home. Highly recommended.

It was something to behold! Flying over water, then mountains, then in through the valleys to see numerous waterfalls, it was quite breathtaking to say the least.

Entire staff were fantastic. Professional and courteous. Shane the pilot did a great job of describing the the views, and helping us get the most out of the experience.

We had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this business. All staff is friendly and professional. We definitely felt we were in good hands. Our pilot was knowledgeable, interesting and friendly. He managed to engage my sons (ages 11 an 8) in conversations. Everyone loved the flight, the scenery, and the entire experience.

We weren't necessarily going to do this tour, but some friends recommended and I'm glad they did. The staff was very well prepared, the safety information well-done, and everyone was very friendly. But that's not why you're reading. The tour is absolutely stunning. You start off heading to the east/northeast and see views of lush farmland before approaching deep rainforest valleys, where you go down into places that are extremely difficult to see by land -- watching waterfalls flow from the clouds down a cliffside. Then you come out to the coast and see just how beautiful the Big Island is. Light and dark blue waters, pristine and barely touched beaches and waterfalls running through the cliffs into the ocean below. The ride is extremely smooth and the pilot (Greg) was very knowledgeable, funny, and had the right balance of storytelling and just letting you enjoy the scenery. 100% recommend this if you're on the Big Island.

Kai and Blue Hawaiian tours were spectacular! Janie, our on-ground assistant, was so helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome! The flight was a bucket list item and did not disappoint! The coastline is beyond amazing and Kai provided a wonderful commentary as well as encouraging questions. A memory to be treasure for sure!

My daughter and I enjoyed seeing the Big Island from the air. Blue Hawaiian Helicopter pilots and staff were so kind and accomodating. In our experience, our flight had to turn around for safety concerns and they added a flight the next day to accommodate us. I appreciate their wisdom and how they took care of us. Once the weather cooperated, we had a terrific adventure!

Our pilot and guide--Greg--was top notch. He was professional, experienced, knowledgeable, and attuned to all of his guests, especially with my tween daughter. I value that Greg has years of experience as a pilot with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, which showed in his professionalism and comfortable interaction with guests, and is a long-term resident of the Big Island, part of the community. For these helicopter tours, the pilot/guide is not only safely "delivering" you to sites, but s/he is a critical part of *making* the experience-- the knowledgeable explanations, the informative yet comfortable conversation, and the creative soundtrack that complements some of the viewing. I think it would be too easy to do some or all of this wrong, distracting from the experience. Greg did all of this so *right*, on top of his core responsibilities as a pilot. I had considered paying less at a competitor (and also skip the amazing landing right at the waterfall), and I know now that would have been a big mistake. This experience was a highlight of our trip--an expensive trip that won't be repeated for years, if ever--and Greg and the Blue Hawaiian setup together made this an awesome experience and exceptional memory.

My two daughters and I went on a northern 80 minute tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter this past Saturday. It was our last full day on the big island and it actually took me the whole 10 days we were there to talk my daughter’s into agreeing to go. Matt was our pilot and he was great. He was informative and talked to us the whole time. There was some major wind that day and the ride was still great. We got to see parts of the island that otherwise we’d never get to see. I would definitely use Blue Hawaiian again. Thanks for a memorable experience.

Seriously amazing views and very comfortable. Our pilot, Kai, put us at ease and got us close to some incredible waterfalls. We ended up buying the video package. I really recommend just enjoying the ride and getting the video package instead of trying to video and take photos while flying, it diminishes the experience. Highly recommend, I want to go back and do a longer tour now!!

WOW! This was an incredible trip and our pilot Greg Fredericks was wonderful. Blue Hawaiian lived up to their #1 ranking. Seeing magma from above was sooo cool, but for me the trip along the coast & into the valley with 1,000-2,000 ft. waterfalls was TOPS -- it was beyond anything I could've imagined and wish I could go back again and again. I cried, it was so beautiful and cry every time I re-watch it. YES, spend the extra $40 and get the recording of your trip. The waterfall landing was the icing and cherry on top...SPECTACULAR!
