This was an absolutely incredibly experience. There's no better way to see all Kauai has to offer than by air and there's no better company to see it with than Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. The booking process was a breeze, the staff on site was incredibly welcoming and glad to share information and our pilot was clearly one of the best. The helicopter was incredibly modern and comfortable and felt very safe. There was no doubt in my mind it underwent regular maintenance by the it started and ran compared to other helicopters in the area. The pilot was extremely knowledgable about the island and shared some wonderful insight. After the tour, we were able to purchase a video of our specific tour and we've already watched it twice. We took some great video with our GoPro, but it doesn't compare to what they were able to record with included the narration from the pilot. I couldn't more emphatically recommend this excursion and can't wait to do it again.
This is an incredible experience and can't miss on Kauai! The staff was knowledgable and made us feel safe and secure. We had a safety video and were easily explained how to board the helicopter. The views were absolutely breathtaking with the etherial music. The helicopters were modern and in terrific condition. Our pilot was fantastic and very funny! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity!
The helicopter ride was great. Worth the money to see the whole island and the waterfalls and canyons up close. We went through Blue Hawaiian.
Absolutely the best activity I've ever done. Our pilot, Barrett, was awesome. Great at pointing things out and had a great sense of humor. We sat up front, totally worth the extra $100 a person. Highly recommend!!
This was my first time on a helicopter and I enjoyed every minute of it. Our pilot, Barrett, was an amazing pilot and a great tour guide. We saw probably about two thirds of the island in an hour. I would highly recommend this tour.
My first helicopter ride and everything I was hoping for! The freedom to go into canyons and over mountains is exhilarating. Our pilot Keith new every waterfall and how they were changing that day and week. Covers the entire island with all its different aspects. I don’t know to express what it’s like to fly into the central extinct volcano with vertical yet green walls 3,000’ high, mists above and waterfalls streaming…transcendent? Be aware there are 6 seats, 2 in front with the pilot, 4 in the back. Without question the best seat is front right window. You can pay extra $100 to guarantee front row and I’d say worth it. Also the right side seats are favored 80% of the ride because it’s basically clockwise tour. If you weigh 250+ you will pay a bit extra and take up two spots. They will literally weigh you on site it’s part of flight planning. Window seats can take excellent photos and videos through the windows with iPhone or real camera. They also take a continuous HD stabilized video of the whole flight with an external camera including audio from the pilot and passengers which they will sell to you after for $60. I was happy with my own shots. My wife doesn’t like to fly and gets seasick but had no motion sickness problems and said although she was anxious it was well worth it! We had about 20 seconds of turbulence at one point early and I was worried but it ended and the rest of the ride was very smooth. I was worried they might cancel for weather, we had 15-25 winds and scattered rain (which is like every day in Kauai…) and it wasn’t a problem. We briefly went through a rain shower which was amazing! Mostly sunny. Amazing smooth landing. I highly recommend doing it once and paying for best seats!
Great experience. I was a little unsure as this was my first helicopter tour but our pilot Greg was top notch and the tour was excellent. There were 6 of us on the trip but the helicopter used accommodated all of us comfortably.
The views and our tour guide Chelsea was fantastic. Chelsea was very informative and very friendly. In fact all employees were great. Don't miss doing this if you go to Kauai it is worth every penny.
- The entire booking process, check in was very straightforward. - The tour covered almost all aspects of Kauai. - Our pilot (Greg) kept the entire party of 6 very engaged throughout the tour. Greg made the tour lively and entertaining. - It would be good to book this tour earlier during the trip so that you get a chance to see the entire Kauai and then select areas which you want to explore more during the remainder of the trip.
Blue Hawaiian was recommended by a friend of mine as we were deciding what to do for our big excursion while on Hawaii and it was beyond worth it. Toshi was our pilot and besides providing a fantastic flying experience he gave a really insightful educational tour of the Island and its history. We flew on a full flight but the seating was beyond accommodating (I'm 6'2" and very broad chested sitting at the door seat). 50 minutes was the perfect amount of time to get a view of the Island that tourists do not have access to, and was blown away from start to finish. Courteous, professional, and funny- highly recommend Blue Hawaiian Tours
The helicopter tour is very cool and gives you incredible views of the island. We did the coast tour and the views of the coastline are incredible. Pilot will also take you in between the mountain valleys which is also an incredible experience. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and is definitely worth it. If you’ve ever seen Jurassic Park, the views are essentially equivalent to that. It’s about 75 degrees or so in the helicopter and you will not need a jacket.
Pilot Greg knows the island so well. He took us on a beautiful ride over the pristine northern coast where no roads exist, and to view waterfalls and lava tubes. Even spotted a humpback whale- first of the season. So glad we did not miss this.
Not worth the price tag for the Kohala coast tour. The helicopter tour in Kauai is way better for the same price. The kohala coast tour with Blue Hawaiian covered only bits of Polulu and Waimanu valley. We didn't even go into the valleys much to view the beautiful waterfalls. Wouldnt hurt skipping this tour.
The tour was great. the company was really good. the pilot was knowledgeable. we saw so many water falls that it was amazing!
It's was our 3rd trip to the Big Island. I thought I had seen all major scenic points of the island and decided to check out the Kohala coast. Well... I was in for a surprise that exceeded all my expectations. I first noticed Blue Hawaiian Helicopters advertised at the KOA airport. Of course it looked awesome and you don't always get what is being advertised. I can tell you now that the experience is much above and beyond what any video or image can capture. Experience: Memories that will last you a lifetime! The flight was amazing. The views were unbelievable, so gorgeous. The helicopter, pilot and land crew were all very professional, confident and friendly. When my friends saw the images, they thought it was Kauai... Some tips: When deciding when to go, call up Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour to see availability then choose a date when the Kohala coast will be sunny. Get there early, that increases your chance to be able to get the front seats. There are 2 front seats next to the pilot and 4 back seats. Their computer calculates the load balancing (positional seating) of the guests in the copter but they will keep couples together. While I enjoyed the tour from the front seats, the guests on the back row seemed to equally enjoy the trip. The company does sell videos with audio if you'd like to see what their multiple cameras captured during your own flight. You can also take pictures and videos with your own devices if you are happy with those (as I did). At the end of the trip you can quickly look a the quality you recorded and compare to the quality they offer when played back on their monitor. I would certainly go back for more flying with them based on the weather and price of the tour.
