Amazing views of West Maui and Molokai. Our pilot Derek, besides being a safe, smooth pilot, was a terrific tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the islands. He also was very courteous and personable and played a perfect play list for us to listen to during the tour. I was also happy I brought along the tour brochure with the maps of Maui and Molokai to follow along as we went. This tour is a must do to budget for.
Phenomenal experience. Our pilot Chris was exceptional. He really knew the islands well and was able to bring a little extra knowledge about everything we were seeing. This was my first time on a helicopter and it couldn't have been any better. This was the best way to see Maui and Molokai that you would not otherwise be able to see. Highly recommend doing this trip. Well worth the money.
A couple of us had been to Hana before and wanted to try something new for this trip. We booked the SkyTrek excursion helicopter/limo van tour to/from Hana through our resort's concierge. The helicopter portion was with Blue Hawaiian and the limo van was through Temptation Tours. You can either fly to Hana and van back or van to Hana and fly back. This trip includes a picnic lunch. If there is one thing you cannot predict on Maui, it's the weather! It changes all the time. The day we took our flight ended up being cloudy and rainy. We figured we had just spent hundreds of dollars for nothing (we booked the Ecostar). However, our pilot, Brian, made sure we were still able to enjoy our flight. We were not able to fly to the top of Haleakala, but he spent time pointing out other things on land and in the water along the way to Hana. He flew us into a wide area of mountain ridges where we saw over 70 huge waterfalls! With the waterfalls and seeing a whale in the water from above, we were NOT disappointed in our trip! The whole trip (about 45 minutes) was very enjoyable and well worth the price! Wayne, with Temptation Tours, picked us up at the Hana helipad for our limo van tour back from Hana. We started with a delightful picnic lunch at Hana Bay and then headed back along the Hana Road to Kahului. Wayne has several years experience in the tourism business and was very knowledgeable about the sights along the Hana Road. I had never traveled this road in this direction, so it was nice to experience it "on the other side", in addition to being a passenger instead of being the driver. Wayne took us to a small botanical garden and would stop anywhere we wanted to stop for pictures. Wayne's insight and experience made this trip the wonderful experience that it was! Make sure you have fresh batteries in your camera and plenty of room on your SD card! Mahalo Nui Loa to Blue Hawaiian and Temptation Tours!
This was a really cool way to see the parts of Maui that you can not see in person. Having the chance to fly over the jungle, waterfalls, and mountains is out of this world. My wife and I booked our trip through our travel agent and we did the Hana / Haleakala tour. We really enjoyed this opportunity and I would recommend this to anyone. The only part of the trip that I had an issue with was when we went to check in for our flight they charged my wife and I an additional fuel surcharge of $45 each ($90). I understand that fuel is expensive and so is maintaining a helicopter, but why not build this into the price?! After our 40 minute flight (I expected it to be a little longer) we got out of the helicopter and went into the main office to leave. The helicopter pads are located next to the main airport, but have their own separate buildings and parking. I asked the front desk if they had a parking voucher since there was a parking attendant when we entered. The front desk agent said that they don't give any out and that it is around $3-$5 for parking! I was shocked that they didn't have anything and were going to make us pay to park....right in front of the front door...all after charging us almost $500 for the 2 of us!! Luckily when we drove out of the parking lot the attendant just waved us on and smiled. One would think that a highly recommended helicopter tour company would include a parking voucher and/or have a deal with the small lot outside their office. This incident by no means diminishes the experience that we had. The only way to see what we saw is by helicopter!
Great pilot with lots of knowledge. Travelling steadily over the terrain into the clouds next to the rim of the volcano. Seeing fantastic waterfalls a d the efforts of the island to preserve native plants from goats. Great sea views and the spirals of wind pumps down the hillside was stunning
Blue Hawaiian helicopter flight from Hana to Kahului following private bus tour of Hana road. 40 minute flight. The Ecostar helicopter is simply first class. Very plush. Smooth ride. Air conditioning. Great views even from the back seat middle. Tons of waterfalls only visible by copter. Pricey but well worth it!
Totally worth the money to see the island from the air. So beautiful and an exciting way to do it. I had never been in a helicopter. Also, we were not big on the crowds and windy roads (600+ switchbacks I think!) of the road to Hana. And while seeing it from the air is not as good as experiencing it in foot and by car, we all agreed we were good with the helicopter view. Just gorgeous.
After days of watching others fly overhead, we decided to call and book a tour for ourselves and boy are we glad we did. Our pilot was amazing and the ride is so much fun. It was a first time ride in a helicopter for me and it was remarkably smooth and slow. I was worried it would be a bit bumpy or scary and it was not at all. The views are awesome and Dave was good about turning the copter so passengers on both sides got the views and money shots. This is not an inexpensive activity but it was worth every penny. We hesitated a bit when other reviewers complained about value for money and length of the flight and are glad we still went ahead as the tour was precisely 50 minutes. We definitely felt we got our monies' worth AND we have a life long memory. Next time we will do the Molokai tour!
Very accommodating staff, gave us the seats we asked for, An extremely smooth flight thanks to our knowledgable and interesting pilot, Rick. He dipped the helicopter down and turned it around so each passenger could get a perfect view of each attraction. Afterwards, we were able to purchase the film which was recorded on our flight so we could relive the experience again and again. We can warmly recommend Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for professional service and an experience well worth the cost. Thank you !!
This was one of my favorite things we did in Maui. We had a breathtaking ~4-hour tour of Hana Highway and Hana Town - our tour guide, Gayle, was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and funny! She made our tour really fun. The van we rode in was also really nice! I am very prone to motion sickness and did not experience any sickness during the 4-hour winding drive up the Hana Highway. We saw sooooo many amazing things and learned so many things about Maui. :) The helicopter tour was incredible as well. Our pilot, Mike, was welcoming and answered all of our questions thoroughly while also expertly piloting the bird! It would take too long to list all of the things we saw during this day-long tour, but all I can say is this: do it! You won’t regret it. Maui has so much to offer!
This was definitely a highlight of our trip. There were some weather issues, so our pilot has to reroute - but we got to see waterfalls that were not originally part of the tour. The pilot was extremely friendly and professional - answered many of our questions about flying, the islands, and whales (we saw several from the air). The flight was very smooth - no issues with motion sickness. Because it was just our family, he even customized the trip and flew us by our hotel for an aerial view. We got to see several of the waterfalls and scenes used in the Jurassic Park franchise, which was a plus. It’s definitely expensive, but well worth the money. Amazing way to see the natural beauty of the island.
This is a well organized operation. The staff and pilot was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Thank you Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and ESPECIALLY Derek for such an incredible tour of Maui. Derek was beyond knowledgeable and incredibly helpful and friendly. The views were spectacular and the helicopter ride was smooth sailing. We’ll be back and hopefully we get Derek again.
My wife was apprehensive about flying in a helicopter, but once we lifted off, it was pure amazement. Thanks to our pilot guide, Tim, and wonderful ground crew, everything went great! I had flown several times while serving in the Army, so I was very comfortable with the flight. I will even tell you it was a very windy day, but we didn't feel a bit of it, and the trip was far better than we could have imagined. The crater of Haleakala was magnificent, and the vast waterfalls and colorful landscape/seascapes were amazing. We were greeted like family when we arrived and the whole experience was top notch! If you're ever in the Hawaii islands, consider this a must on your list of to-do's!
We had an amazing experience with Blue Hawaiin Helicopter. Thank you Hugo for being so knowledgable. It was our first time on a Helicopter and the views were spectacular!!! Blue Hawaiian Helicopters were efficient and staff was very friendly. We will definitely choose Blue Hawaiin Helicopters again when we go to the Big Island
