Many parts of the Island of Kauai you can't see unless you are in the air. The best thing we did was sign up for a helicopter flight with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. They are very well organized and have everything on the ground and in the air planned for safety and comfort of the passengers. We saw fantastic waterfalls, rock formations, beaches and more. The flight was very smooth. To remember this wonderful adventure we paid extra for a memory stick with a video of our flight!
What a fantastic helicopter tour! We lucked out and had a very clear day, so were able to see SO much more, even the inside of a volcano! Blue Hawaiian is organized, safe and comfortable. Marty was our pilot and he was lots of fun! Definitely a DO - you won't be disappointed!
This was an excellent tour, definitely worth the cost and the time. Remember to wear dark shirt or you'll need to purchase one of there t-shirts for $10 US. The dark clothing really helps with not having as much reflection, therefore you get better view and photos. After the tour you also have an opportunity to purchase the video (USB stick) of your tour for $40 US. It was great, the weather cleared up and because of the heavy ran the evening before we got to see so many waterfalls. This was definitely a highlight of our visit on Kauai.
The views of Kauai from the air are breathtaking, and we are so glad we went with Blue Hawaiian for our flight. The ecostar is very comfortable and our pilot Geoffrey was fantastic. He welcomed and answered questions, and was super friendly and relaxed, making us feel very safe. He also did a wonderful job of giving everyone on board a good angle to look at the sights. Highly recommend this tour!
Blue Hawaiian is a great company that prepared us well. The views from this extremely comfortable helicopter (our first time in one) can't be beat. Pilot Tom had a great sense of humor with all of us, and pointed out all of the sights. We were fortunate to have great weather right after a rain event that loaded up all of the waterfalls on the island. Do not pass up the opportunity to do this tour!
Not the best flyer but quickly learnt that there is no need to be scared with these guys! The flight is way more comfortable than in an airplane, no sensation of dropping or your stomach dropping just very smooth! Plus, the views are so insanely gorgeous you forget instantly! Pilot Miguel was amazing! Very friendly and inclusive, interacting with each person throughout the flight calling them by name as he pointed out various landmarks! Music throughout also a nice touch! All staff involved were very helpful including the girls who briefed us and take you to and buckle you into your seats- really nice as you barely have to think so if you are nervous this is gone by the time you even get in the helicopter! Video of the flight also awesome!
The only way to see the best of the island. Lovely and professional staff with very comfortable and safe helicopters. Mark our pilot was very knowledgeable and good fun. It was worth to purchase the recording of our flight as the helicopter has 3 cameras so you can see everything. Definitely one company to recommend!
Going on this helicopter tour was the highlight of my trip to Kauai. I can't say enough good things about this ride. We got to see the entire island and the wettest spot on the planet. It gives you a true feeling for Hawaii and how the island was created over five million years ago. The majestic mountains were a sight to rival flying buttresses in cathedrals. We saw loads of rainbows - in between valleys, over the ocean I saw for the first time a 360 degree rainbow. The tour lasted an hour and was worth every penny! I highly recommend doing this to experience Kauai at its most beautiful.
We took the trip around the island and were amazed at the beauty. We have don the other islands, but Kauai has the most beauty of them all. the huge valleys and massive waterfalls are gorgeous. The Northern coats line with the cliffs and caves are spectacular. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and very engaging with us. I would highly recommend the tour with them to see all the sights you can't see from the ground.
My wife and I did this tour Saturday afternoon. We had never done a helicopter tour and we were very glad we did this tour. You see all of the island and some places you would never see walking or driving. Numerous waterfalls! Marty was our pilot and tour guide. He was outstanding!
My husband and I couldn’t take a boat tour to see the NaPali coast so opted for a helicopter tour, and we were not disappointed! Flying through the interior canyons, past towering waterfalls, and into sacred Hawaiian valleys was an unforgettable experience. Brody was our pilot and he was an excellent narrator. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see all of Kauai!
My husband and I booked an early morning helicopter trip last-minute on our honeymoon in September. This was absolutely the highlight of our entire trip and we both remain awestruck when we think about it! The views were breathtaking and our pilot, Geoff, could not have been better. Aside from being a genuinely lovely guy he had tons of local knowledge (and a killer playlist!) and made us feel as though our trip was very unique (even though he must do it multiple times a day). We felt in very safe hands. I would 100% recommend this for anyone who is looking for a helicopter trip in Kauai!
I cannot imagine a better way to see all the beauty that Kauai offers. Our pilot, Geoffrey, was amazing--the flight was smooth and he shared great info on the island. The views were almost unbelievably gorgeous: every moment was another perfect picture. It's not cheap by any measure but is worth every penny! Very professional outfit--highly recommend. (PS--they offer pick up and drop off, too.)
We are seasoned travelers and this ranks among the very best of all our experiences. First time to Kauai and I had no idea how mountainous the center of Kauai is with dramatic canyons lined with dozens of waterfalls that are not reachable any other way than by helicoptor. Add to this the first-class service of Blue Hawaiian with highly professional pilots such as Greg, and you have a can't miss once-in-a-lifetime experience. We took a similar tour of the Big Island with a different company and it was not 1/10th as good as this one. Very relaxing hour with Greg providing narration throughout. He worked hard to know every passenger's name and to personalize his conversational tour to our individual interests. Cautions: Our helicopter only had seats for 6 passengers. 2 in the front with the pilot and 4 in the back row. This means that only 3 of 6 passengers truly have a window seat. I was very concerned about being one of the two people in the back without a window seat, as the people in the middle have to take photos across the people next to them. In my case, it was my wife, so it was not a problem. However, if you were next to a stranger who is not cooperative, being seated in the middle could be an issue. There is lots of glass in the helicopter and the Blue Hawaiian ground crew loan out black t-shirts to help reduce the reflections and glare from the windows, but. if you are not next to the window, reflections are a problem when the helicopter is oriented at the wrong angles to the sun. I found this out the hard way once I reviewed what I thought were great photos, only to see that 50% of the frame was through a reflection that I had not seen when taking the picture. Greg did a nice job of maneuvering the helicopter to provide great views of everything for everyone. However, even with a great pilot like Greg, your viewing time from one angle to another is going to be limited from any seat, so you cannot linger too long with framing and lighting and such. You have to be ready to take your picture as soon as you see it. One final note: My wife is a seasoned traveler in all sorts of conditions, but the sweeping quick motions of helicopter flying can create issues for her. Blue Hawaiian offers Dramamine at the desk. If you have any doubts, you may want to take one before going up. Even with these cautions and reservations, I wish i could have gone a 2nd and 3rd time. If you have the time and money, be sure to take a helicopter tour of Kauai and be sure to go with Blue Hawaiian!
