Took the entire family of 4 and we had the greatest time out of all of our adventures on the island.
Our tour was booked to take place the morning after Mauna Loa started to erupt. We were concerned that our tour might be cancelled, but the entire staff were so welcoming and assured us that the tour would still take off. To be some of the very first people to see Mauna Loa lava plumes during such an historic event was incredible. Mike was our pilot and guide and we couldn't recommend him and Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours any more! We plan to do this tour again every time we visit Big Island.

Shane was a wonderful heli guide! He gave us great historical insight and even allowed us to spend our final moments of the tour over the ocean where we were able to see 3 whales come to the surface. I would definitely recommend this tour, as it’s a fabulous way to see the island. Thanks for everything!
We booked several weeks ago with the special flight planned for seeing Mauna Loa erupt.....which Mother Nature decided to stop prior to our arrival. Blue Hawaiian offered us an alternate tour that featured Mauna Kea, incredible flights through valleys and a wonderful landing at an immense waterfall on the north shore of the island. As a plus, we got to see a mother and baby whale.....and a rogue surfer as we flew over the ocean. Our pilot, Kai, was top rate with detailed knowledge and narration of the sights. Super smooth flight and highly recommend the experience!
Awesome views and a friendly pilot. Worth the price
Love this company and it's new fleet of helicopters. The tour guide was its a must when you are on this island
Beautiful!! Informative!! Great pilot! Friendly staff! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the ride made my son & I a bit nauseous, & he felt uncomfortable sitting his 6”2 self in the helicopter. Well worth the discomfort & if you don’t have those issues, it’s all good!
We were fortunate to have clear weather in December for our tour and that was a gift! As far as Blue Hawaiian goes, they were professional, friendly and had a good safety briefing and boarding process. Duke was our pilot: he was knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable giving us tidbits of history mixed with island trivia along the way. There could have been a bit more. We had a quiet group without a lot of questions who were just enjoying the experience and that’s ok. The tour lasted about 45-50 minutes as advertised and I would recommend highly. We were not interested in purchasing the video or photos of our group at the end but that is a nice option for those who would want it. Kauai is beautiful and this is a great(albeit expensive) way to see it.
We flew with this company on Tuesday December 20. Early morning flight. I was in the rear middle seat. Poor visibility, sketchy weather. Raining made it hard to see. Rough air. Good helicopter talkative pilot. Pilot recited all the eco propaganda he could during the ride. Was not pleased about this at all. Probably should not have flown as the visibility was sketchy.
This was our second helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian. They are a very professional company with professional pilots and employees. They start by checking you in and having you watch an orientation video. Then they took your pictures and had you board the helicopter. Our pilot was Duke. Duke was very professional and friendly. Duke drove the helicopter with expert care and we felt safe the entire ride. We toured most of the island and he pointed out many different sites and gave us a lot of background information. We saw many waterfalls and rainbows. It was an amazing ride and you will not get to see the island like you see it from the air. We had an amazing time and purchased the video and pictures at the end so that we can relive our experience. We would definitely do a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian again.
Great tour ! They called us the day before to let us know we probably wouldn't have seen much lava if we stuck to our original volcano tour so they suggested we take the waterfall tour instead which we ended up doing. Our tour guy was Greg who was really nice. He seemed very knowledgable of the area and had answers to ppl's questions. We had read on other reviews that some tour guide's didnt seem to have knowledge of the land. We saw a rainbow and some great waterfalls esp since it had just rained so they were in full force. We even saw a whale otw back to home base. I personally got sick towards the end but everyone else was fine. So if youre sensitive to motion, bring some ginger gum or medicine. Even though it was windy, I don't think our helicopter was swaying THAT much but it was enough to get me sick. Luckily theres barf bags on the seats (but i didnt need it phew). You can buy the video of your tour (outside and inside the cabin) for 70-80$ (i cant remember) when you're checking out.
...crossing the island between 2 volcanos, floating the clouds, spying Hilo, hanging tight to the coastline, passing the many waterfalls, and flying a magnificent valley... The tour was excellent! This company was respectful and polite. I would do this again with them.
Our helicopter tour of Oahu was great. We really enjoyed the birds-eye view of the island. This was our first helicopter ride and it was great. Marcus was our pilot and he was very knowledgeable about the island. I would highly recommend taking this tour.
Greg was the best pilot! While visiting Hawaii, we did a lot of activities and excursions, but this Hawaiian helicopter tour ride with a private landing, was by far the highlight of our 10 day trip!! If you are even on the fence about it, this is worth it, I 100% urge you to book this in advance to ensure you get your spot! This will be a memory of ours for the rest of our life, and we cannot thank Greg enough for making the experience so special!
