After seeing a report of a tourist helicopter in the news I was nervous so did my research. I’m not an expert but the helicopters here are superior (more expensive) to those used by other companies. Safety was my number 1 concern! That said, a once in a lifetime experience!
David Machuca was an excellent pilot. We flew around several recent lava flows. Chuey was very knowledgeable about the geology and history of the flows and their effects on the island and cities. We flew in an Airbus helicopter — the ride was very smooth. And they recorded a video you can buy of the trip.

His professionalism and calm demeanor instantly put us at ease, and his knowledge of the area made the entire experience even more fascinating. The views were simply breathtaking — soaring over lush valleys, waterfalls, and the stunning coastline was like something out of a dream. Dale’s expert piloting made the ride feel smooth and secure the whole time. He pointed out hidden gems and gave us plenty of time to soak in the scenery without ever feeling rushed. We can’t say enough about how safe, exciting, and awe-inspiring the experience was.
