The Big Island of Hawaii is the largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago—almost as large as all the other islands combined—and bursting with life. Within 4,000 square miles of land, you’ll experience dense tropical rainforests, black-sand beaches, snow-capped peaks, remnants of ancient Hawaiian settlements, and the incredible Kilauea volcano.

Maui is renowned for its unimaginable beauty. Alpine-like forests cover the upcountry slopes of Mt. Haleakala, the world’s largest dormant volcano. The famed “Road to Hana” hugs the coast, white sandy beaches line the shores, and magnificent sea cliffs hover over the blue Pacific. An aerial tour of Maui will quickly reveal why it’s continually been voted “The World’s Best Island.”

I’ve always liked helicopters, whether from afar or up close. If I was 70 years, younger, learning to fly would be at the top of my to-do list. Having a chance to take a helicopter flight with blue Hawaiian with the icing on my cake. Flying over KILAUEA after a recent eruption was a magical moment. I loved it. Michael did a great job and upgrading to first class was well worth it.
Mixed Experience - Great Ride, but Rushed Service The helicopter tour itself was fantastic. The views of the Big Island were stunning, and my kids absolutely loved their first helicopter ride. The pilot was skilled and the flight experience lived up to expectations. However, the overall experience felt extremely rushed. We were told before takeoff that we could take photos with the helicopter after the ride, but were given barely a minute once we landed - not nearly enough time to get decent family photos. I also paid extra for the photo and video package. Unfortunately, this was disappointing. They took just one quick pose at the beginning of the ride, and the video was simply from cameras mounted on the helicopter - nothing special or personalized. For the price point, I expected more attention to the photo opportunities, especially since capturing memories is such an important part of these experiences. Bottom line: If you’re going purely for the aerial views and flight experience, you’ll enjoy it. But if professional photos are important to you, manage your expectations or consider bringing your own camera.
5/5 stars! Amazing views and very great experience. Highly recommend for people who go appreciate good site seeing, volcanoes, and waterfalls. As well as island scenery. Very comfortable and air conditioned helicopter. Ask for Mike as your pilot!
My wife and I went to Maui for our honeymoon, and one of the excursions we booked is the “Ultimate Road to Hana by Land & Air”. We had a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Our trip started off with our pilot, Chris, who was very warm and inviting. He made the ride very smooth & fun. We were then greeted by our tour guide, Scott, who gave us a lot of information on everything about East Maui, and Hawaii as a whole. He was so knowledgable and he offered to take so many wonderful photos of us! This trip exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend “Blue Hawaiian Helicopters” to anyone wanting to explore Maui with locals who know everything there is to know about the island.
My favorite part was flying close to the Valley of Kings.
We were very upset and dissapointed after waiting 2 hours and spending $100 on transport getting there, we were told that our ride is cancelled. It happens. We get it. However Blue Hawaii did not put us on next flight ( and cancel people who didnt even get there yet ). Yes, they offered for another day but that was not an option for us. So in summary, we spend two hours and $100 on transport without accomodation by the operator. They really should have bumped people from future rides on the same day who didnt spent $ or time like we did. It was very inconsiderate.
